BUT a BD50 will allow all that and more for a less-than-two-hour flick. What does a 50-min SD documentary occupy: 1gb or so? At most? There's no reason to use BD25s unless you're ultracheap (which, admittedly, Optimum is) and looking to save the 40 cents or so difference in price between pressing BD25s and BD50s.

I want all my HD media to be at least AVC and would like them to max out as often as they can so 40mbs plus, if I wanted extras I can get my dvd out or if I did not have it I could buy it for £4.
If the extras are HD then ok a second disc for them, if not why bother having them at all

Anephric: I agree totally, they should include everything from the DVD. A lot of the European studios are using BD25 I think? Even still, it's not a small amount of space!

One trend I notice is that the extras are included in SD MPEG-2. If they're short on space, they could crunch them down even more with AVC, but they don't tend to do this. Probably because of the slow speed of AVC encoders.

              What about Red Dragon?

I always thought SOTL was liked by fans, obviously I'm wrong!!

I hate Red Dragon with a passion reserved for console fanboys

People are obviously joking about Lambs. Hannibal's great fun though.

I'll be interested to see if the version of Manhunter is the same trimmed one Mann approved for DVD (it's missing one of Graham's most famous lines). I do wish he'd stop tampering with his films.

Talking of Michael Mann, I'd kill if it meant a blu-ray release of The Keep, but it stll hasn't had a dvd release so the chances of that are about a million to one, I guess. Adore that film, even if it is deeply flawed. I've only got a crappy bootleg copy that I downloaded from somewhere. Wouldn't normally advocate torrent sites, but hey, they do have their uses.

On another note, can't wait for this at the end of August - http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=5451

Five Werner Herzog docs in one boxset. Three of which are amazing, one merely good, and the other, La Soufriere, I've never seen.

I have no love for Lambs, I do enjoy Hannibal due to the fact I enjoy every Ridley scott movie

                        Even G.I. Jane?

Actually, a more appropriate question would be - even Hannibal?

For me, Manhunter was a great film created from a mediocre story. Red Dragon lived up to the source material in that regard. Surely this collection needs that prequel - bundling it in with films people actually want is the only way anyone will ever watch it. Like they've done with Hannibal.

Hannibal is pretty cool, I like the way it's kind of a knowing piss-take of the previous films. Looks wonderful too.

Bit of an odd cover given that Brian Cox is Hannibal in the first

Brian Cox is a better Lecter than Sir Ant! Whadda ya say to that then eh?

G.I. Jane is pretty good up until the last action scene with that zany camera work.
