The Licensing Expo in Vegas is often an interesting place to glimpse cool stiff from upcoming filmsthis year is no exception. For example, they've got some costumes from Zack Snyder's forthcoming MAN OF STEEL on display. We've already seen...

There's a hint of Silent Hill about that Jor-El costume.

The film is getting an Imax 3D conversion. A new synopsis is also out:

"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world's beacon of hope - Superman."

I'd been hoping and expecting one would appear with Dark Knight Rises but its so quiet I'm starting to think there won't be. Best guess after that is Hobbit

I don't understand why they waste time and money converting these things. I doubt it was intended to be converted when they shot it and no one is going to see superman just becuase it's 3D. Its a well known character and we already know if we want to see it or not.

UPDATE! Just received an email from Warner Brothers and IMAX, stating the following: Hi there! I wanted to let you know that IMAX had made an inputting error regarding Man of Steel on their site and the film is not being converted to 3D....

It's now being listed as an error, final decision pending

A few days before the first footage screens at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego, the Alberta Film Ratings board has confirmed that a teaser trailer for the project is on the way. The G-rated trailer runs 87 seconds and is expected to go online next week sometime, almost certainly attached to copies of […]

An 87 second teaser trailer is on the way. It looks likely to hit online next week and be attached with Dark Knight Rises. Snyder said of casting the lead role:

"We had about 500 guys initially. We did this massive auditioning madness. It got down to the usual suspects in a pretty quick order. Henry Cavill was actually the first one we physically tested on film. We actually tested him in the Christopher Reeves Superman suit. And that was a big deal. That’s a hard suit to pull off. Trust me. If you’re just standing there in that suit, it’s dodgy. It felt like we just bought it a costume shop. Plus, there’s no mask. I’ve been around a few superhero costumes, and it’s weird because when you’re in the Superman costume it’s just you from the neck up. And somebody just combed your hair. But Henry came out of the trailer when we were shooting a test and everybody thought, ‘Okay, that’s Superman.’ He was awesome and did a great job.”

                        SDCC view taken from DH:

Warners pretty much won the convention today with a five film, 2.5 hour presentation that was nearly flawless. Right from the get go Hall H was out of their seats starting with what would have to be one of the most expensive moves of the convention – turning the mega screen into an almost Cinerama […]

"This was the biggest question of the day, the Zac Snyder-directed and Chris Nolan-produced reboot of the Superman franchise. Things got off to a slightly shaky start as an obviously quite nervous Snyder tripped over his words a bit. He then however let the footage speak for itself. The upcoming 87-second teaser trailer that'll hit theatres is likely a significantly cut down version of this extended trailer which surprised. After the big crowd pleasing 'all money shots' action of the previous films, this was much more solemn. The tone much more reverential, serious, and aiming to be something profound.Indeed this was very much Snyder trying to emulate Nolan's filmmaking style - a Hans Zimmer meets Vangelis sweeping score (temp), tasteful handheld photography with an emphasis on the real and practical where possible, plenty of stuff about Clark's journey to determine who he is, and so on. Character beat moments given as much weight as the few big flashy money shots of Clark in the suit flying, fighting, destruction, etc. There's brief glimpses of Amy Adams, Russell Crowe (who also narrates the start) and Michael Shannon's Zod decked in large armour and who seems to have close cropped hair and a salt-and-pepper non-moustached goatee. The Kryptonian design elements ditch the Donner-era crystals in favour of something much more H.R. Giger-esque. Henry Cavill fills the suit perfectly (in more ways than one) and is a great choice from what we could see (though he had no dialogue).Cavill then showed up on stage to various declarations of love from the audience, be it swooning women complimenting him during the Q&A to a random guy in the audience screaming "You're Hot". He also earned his fan cred citing "Red Son" as one of his big influences. Moderator Chris Hardwick, who did a great job throughout, came down from the stage to console one fan overwhelmed and in tears."

                          Saw the trailer before Batman.

                          Amazing trailer.

                          Loved it.

Hated the other Superman films. Not really the greatest fan of Superman in general, but the trailer has me sold. Really excited for this now

Are you taking the pi$$? That "teaser" is pants, it gives you nothing to be excited about until the end, before that it just looks like a fish pie advert lol

And how can you hate the "other Superman films"? Granted the last 3 were pants but the first 2 are still some of the best comic book movies ever, You got the John Williams OST and Reeves and a bloody well done origin story . . .

                              I loved it :-)

'hate' is definitely the right word to use for the latest films, but i take that back for Reeves. I actually didnt mean those. Not really my cup of tea, but i certainly didn't hate them. I find Superman quite boring in the movies to be honest. He is a completely different beast in the comics, the films are very meh.

                              Im excited for this though...

Beyond the stillness in this fish-pie-advert-like teaser is a great sense of power. There's a tension building. I like the subtleness, makes me instantly feel there is something incredibly epic waiting.

Yeah, but you only know about that power because you know about Superman and its a Superman teaser. Taking the teaser on its own and you wouldnt have a scooby doo about whats going on. One minute the guy is on a fishing vessel, the next he's hitch hiking, then he's a kid with his dawg and . . . . ooh look, now he's flying into the sky wearing some strange suit and casuing some sonic booms to appear.
