That's the biggest problem with any potential Superman film. He's practically invulnerable. Not really likely to be many threats to him.
I would cast Bradley Cooper as Superman and Laura Fraser as his Lois Lane.

Yep, she was. She had no fire, no character and was a piss poor actress.

For me, that was actually the only thing I didn't like about the movie. For reasons I'm not even sure of (and most didn't seem to agree) the movie gave me exactly what I wanted from a new Superman film and I found it to be very touching and, in parts, awe-inspiring. I think by concentrating on Superman more than Kent, I got this feeling of how amazing it would be to really have a Superman in this world.

That Jon Hamm looks perfect for Superman imo. He doesn't look to old. I thought that Superman Returns was a missed opportunity. what could have been the film of the year was utterly crap. It had its moments but they were so few and far between that they got lost in the drivvle story.

I actually watched this recently again and turned off halfway through as i just seem to remember that from where lois and her son are on the ship, the film just drags to the end.

I agree with the other poster that with Superman being invulnerable, what can you really do to make a story out of him. You'd have to follow the comics and have him either leave earth or have earth invaded by one of his enemies from the comic books like Doomsday. Lex Luther simply can't pose a threat for me tbh.

I just pray and hope that the next movie delivers on the action side as with a character that can fly and who is almost indestrucable, the limit is the directors imagination.

yeah i think superman really needs to go against someone like doomsday or someone as powerful cos i am getting really fed up with smallville/films/etc using kryptonite as a conveniant plot device just lazy writing i think

Well Im not really a massive Superman fan, in fact I much prefer Batman, Hulk or Deadpool. However I still maintain that Superman 2 is one of the better comic book hero movies ever made, especially the Richard Donner cut. the end fight is such a larf, almost dragonball Z like in some scenes. love it

Instead of invaders coming to Earth it has to be something else. like Aliens threatening the universe or summin, Supes is too big for Earth now. Or maybe span it over 2-3 movies instead like a final crisis/infinite earths type plot. These guys need to be more ambitious but with Nolan involved (not a bad thing) I fear it will be too "real worldy"

Brandon Routh and Tom Welling have both said they're up for this. Welling has zero chance and Routh not much though I'd give the Nolan bros massive respect if they gave it to him.

From Routh at that link - “I think the brothers Nolan are both very talented and so that makes it a different kind of film that would be than Bryan’s vision, which I think was a very nice film that I’m very proud of."

                        Ouch.

Remember they'll be thinking Franchise, and Trilogy over say 10 years from the beginning of production on film 1. He'll be 40 next year.

I agree he looks ideal, but with Superman there is the clean-cut baggage that goes with the character. Whether that matters in this day and age, who knows. Yet this is the man who chain smokes for 40 minutes a week on TV, and I really don't think that's the image they'll go with.

Age is an issue I'd imagine. Studio will want some young guy for The Ladies I'd imagine.

I'd like to see Routh back. Wasn't his fault SR didn't do the business. I thought he was great in it. And I actually like SR. I wish it wasn't about Luther, as that's boring - Real Estate, yawn. Too plodding. Yet the Superman bits were awesome. I defy anyone not to cheer when he saves the plane, I can watch that scene over and over, and it gets to me everytime. Brilliantly executed, dramatic, emotional. A most triumphant return.

A film bit on allegory, which appealed to me. Shame about the kid stuff.

I can't see Routh coming back, they'll want a clean break, but you never know. Nolan will have final call on this, and right now there's no Hollywood player I respect more.

In today's first bit of bad news, Zach Snyder is confirmed as the director of the new Superman movie. Expect lots of greenscreen, lots of flash, and zero substance

I wouldnt worry, Superman Returns had zero subtance and you said you liked that.

Plus aparently that new owl movie hes made is really epic and touching and stuff, so maybe hes capable of putting his heart into a film anyway.

I think hes a good director personally, but then I was even moved by 300 so maybe I'm easily pleased.

LOL. I've never heard anyone calling 300 moving. Except in the homo-erotic sense
