mObscene by Marilyn Manson is a bit of a rip off of Be Agressive by Faith No More.

Though I did read somewhere that he accused them of ripping him off first or somthing? Dont remember exactly what it was.

a bit obscure again, but the beginning of this lesser known thrash band may have "influenced" metallica.

this isnt a rip off, but it shows how songwriting chord formulas make it possible to use the same 4 chords to write most major pop songs in the last 40 years!

Elastica were notorious for ripping off other bands' tunes pretty much shamelessly. Wire and the Stranglers were the two most obvious ones (especially Wire) and they ended up in court at least once.

Love Spreads by the Stone Roses is suspiciously similar to Voodoo Chile in parts too.

I would love to see that given that Faith No More's Be Aggresive was around long before he even knew what make up was.

Electric Six's "I Invented The Night" sounds very Like Gary Numan's "Down In The Park.

The Metallica album came out a year before the Excel album though so the stealing is round the other way no? Definitely a similar sound!

The excel album came out in 1989, but metallica's black album came out in 1991. it's pretty similar, but not as blatant as that oasis track and john lennon's 'imagine'.

Also listen to metallicas 'king nothing' and 'enter sandman', they are exactly the same structure- he even sings a bit of sandman at the end as a joke! Does ripping your own song off count?

@ Prinny - see my initial post ;-)

@ laruso - Oh yes! I was thinking Sandman was on Justice. My bad mate.

If you're referring to Don't Look Back In Anger, then you only hear the same piano riff as Imagine for about 5-10 seconds in the intro. The actual song doesn't sound a like at all.

haha, I checked through every post for repetition, too. Total stupidity! I think the Coldplay/Kraftwerk comparison dazzled me.

Thats the song, couldnt remember the name Yeah I was referring to the intro not the whole song. It's sometimes a fine line between homage & rip-off

Well if you are going to slag Oasis for ripping off a song, there are plenty more better examples than DLBIA.
