Spielberg has confirmed that writing is currently underway on the next installment in the series. He says they've settled on an idea which is stronger than the one used in Jurassic Park 3. In a way that's a little upsetting as though JP3 was a simpler film I preferred it to JP2 which was the last one Spielberg had himself involved in. That said, it's a great series and I'm eager to see this made.

I think JP2, although not the best film, has moments which stand out in my mind far better than compared to the rest of the series. Mainly involving the T-rex at the end. I just don't think Goldblum was a good lead and a better distraction/side kick like he was in JP1. JP3 was merely OK, which is a big drop compared to how monumental the first one was.
I heard there was a script floating around where they ending up weaponising dinosaurs/human/dog hyrids and use them with human soldiers in a like dirty dozen movie which sounded crazy but definitely something I wanted to see. Not sure it would have fit into a JP franchise but still . . . . I guess a new trilogy is the way to go, you cant keep sending people back to the islands.

It’s been a really solid series so far and I like the way they’ve managed to retro-fit newly discovered info on the Dinosaurs - find that sort of thing very interesting.

CTN I think your bugbear is shared by most people in regards to JP2, it kinda went King Kong at the end but I do enjoy that shizznit. JP2 was a bit too serious for my liking up until then. Admittedly the rolling giant donut was a bit much but the silence before the ship smashed into the dock was brilliant. As was finding bits of the crew "All over the place". And unlike King Kong they come to a non killing of the innoccent beast conclusion which is always nice
As good as Pete Postlethwaite was I never liked how his character was only effected when it was his mate who died. Earlier when Goldblum tries to ask him for more sensitivity in regards to a guy who gets eaten whilst saving him and his companions and Pete is all sarcastic "Oh, you're breaking our hearts". He starts off interesting character but a wasted opportunity with such a talented actor.
And am I the only one who finds it a little more than weird when the T-rex cant eat the people in the waterfall so licks Julienne Moore. It just wreaks of tentacle porn, like the T-Rex is saying "I cant eat you but Im so bad I'll at least violate you, as best I can!"

I'm nervous about 4 but hopeful they've mentioned the script is better than 3 - for me 3 was awful. I've only ever only walked out of the cinema for two times, for J3 and the new X-Files movie.
I've of course seen it again, twice!! - on DVD and its clearly leagues below the first and doesnt even hint at the quality bar of the second.
The second has its major flaws though, oh my god does it. The first hour and a half is awesome, not including the stupid gymnastic moment, but after that it goes on for too long and tests the wrong waters.
The Third, however, is shocking from the start.
Please make 4 good

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Jurassic Park was a turning point for me as a young movie fan. The film can be enjoyed by people of all ages, but being a 12 year old boy and seeing that film opening weekend, amidst the insanity of the sell-out...
Word is that Rick Jaffe and Alicia Silver who wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes are working on a new draft of Jurassic Park 4.

The Kidd here Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg are all ready to trot out the original JURASSIC PARK in 3D next summer, but, if producer Frank Marshall is to be believed, it's not just extra box office they're looking to rake in....
The current rumour thanks to Frank Marshall is that next years rerelease of Jurassic Park is to also help get the series back into peoples minds ahead of Jurassic Park 4 which could be on screens within 2 years.
