I thought it was ok, good bit of evening fun etc.
My main complaint was the "we got to weaponize the raptors! " guy. He was just generic evil corporate man 101 "muahaha we got to weaponize the xenomorphs!" "muahaha we got to weaponize this bioweapon!" Give me a break
Incidentally all that gene splicing crazyness was a bit risky just to get some more visitors, here's my ideas for getting some cash injections.
1) Dinosaur deli. In fact you even see a nice open fire steak house place to eat in the parks main street, soon as it flashed up on screen i was thinking "wonder if you can eat dinosaur meat in there" that'll turn a profit.
2) Dinosaur safari. Yep, rich people pay a massive price to go out and shoot dinosaurs. People would go for it! Couple of million, hunt your own T-Rex.
Put me in charge of the park coach i'm ready

The whole financial model of Jurassic World seems dodgy, the cost of R&D alone must be extortionate let alone the running costs. Did the cost of entry get mentioned? I don't think the visitor rate could possibly be high enough without substantial angel investment, even with John Hammond's fortunes

Does the ferry ride come with the ticket?

It tried and was alright...but it just lacked everything that made the original a masterpiece.
Raptors fighting for the good guys made little sense to me, not least because of how ridiculous it seemed. Raptors were probably the stars of JP1, and despite the t-rex being the daddy on first viewings, the raptors really made up some of my favorite scenes. They just seem so much more suited to suspenseful claustrophobic scenes like the classics of the first film. Remember the kids being chased in the kitchens? they really went to town with idea's in that film.
Also despite the script/casting trying so hard to involve many likeable characters, the talent pool wasn't anywhere near(but to be fair JP1 was one of the best cast movies ever). I really like chris pratt, but felt his talents were underutilized in this film, and the rest were pretty forgettable. likeable? sure...but letdown by a subpar script which couldn't flesh them out enough, let alone live up to the sometimes fantastic comedic value of the original.
I mean who could forget Ian malcolm, alan grant, richard hammond, dennis nedry, hell even the kids? But all took a backseat to the fantastic use of the dino's. The only scene(and only a small portion of a scene at that) which came close to replicating that grandiose feel of the original was where
she opens the t-rex pen at the end with flare in hand no less
. Also any attempt at sentimentality fell way short, but that's a given as spielberg is the absolute master in that regard. I did like how they didn't bottle it when it came to killing off characters though, that is a big staple of JP and it was something which stood out for me compared to what i expected, and also compared to so many modern family focused films.
So overall JP3 is still my second favorite movie in the series, and in fact lost world is still my third. I guess its no surprise given the original is one of my top ten movies of all time, and really was spielberg at his finest. When you think what he produced in one year in 1993, its nothing short of staggering.
By modern AAA standards 6.5/10.
When compared to the original 4/10.
I know i have mainly waxed lyrical over the original in my views, but its rather telling that only a couple of things stood out in the entire movie, and its only natural to compare it with what it so clearly had aspirations of mimicking...i had hoped spielberg would have helmed this but alas. I would really love to see him direct one more masterpiece on the scale of JP1. I doubt he ever will again...but i live in hope.Last edited by PaTaito; 24-06-2015, 18:24.

I really enjoyed the roller coaster ride whilst in the cinema, but it's pretty forgettable. Proper popcorn flick. I agree with Supes that it feels like part sequel, part remake, like a great cover song or something.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the delights of a sweaty Bryce Dallas Howard. All of my mates remarked upon it!

As for Spielberg, he's doing Ready Player One and the book conjures up some amazing action sequences, which I think he can do justice to.
Also, there's rumbling about the involvement of Magic Leap to make it an Augmented Reality movie, which will be a real first:

Actually loved this, particularly the comedy sweaty Bryce dallas close up when she's doing a sex pose on the floor amidst two dinosaurs duking it out.
The Asian guy got some good chuckles, infact some of it felt like Aliens. Look forward to the BR release, didn't need intelligent screen play when the action was this hot, top summer smash em up.
