I’m not remotely surprised. And I don’t even know if I blame them. RT is a terrible metric and everyone knows it, everyone in the industry will acknowledge how flawed it is and nobody likes it and yet it has come to matter. To the point where bonuses can be tied to RT scores. But it’s a broken, unfair and unpredictable system with results often not reflecting the quality of a film or how it might go down with an audience (Kickboxer Retaliation has a score in the 90s, just to throw out one example) and often not even representative of the reviews themselves - how often have you seen rotten reviews that actually read pretty positive or vice versa?
It’s a broken metric and, when it’s so easily games, I find it hard to blame those who will try to do that.

it feels like a lot of these review aggregators are open to exploitation, you regularly get reviews from sites you have never heard of with very littel in the way of provenience rubbing shoulders with the more established sites, I hate to pick on Hey Poor Player but its near perfect score for starfeild sees them featured at the top of the reviews and before the click which is super advantageous for a small site as it drives people towards the site.
