Listening to two flavour-of-the-month girl's pop albums today: Ellie Goulding and Marina and the Diamonds.

Ellie Goulding wins by a considerable margin.

Today, it's Groove Armada's new one, Black Light. I really like it. Aside from one stinker somewhere in the middle, it's very consistent, a little darker in feel than their usual stuff and I really like it. Kudos to them for digging out Brian Ferry for one of the highlights of the album. And for actually making me listen to a Will Young track and really like it, though it does sound awfully Bronski Beatish. Not a bad thing.

      Good stuff.

John Beltran - Ten Days of Blue.

Has a realy nice meloncholy feel to it. Great for those early morning Winter drives

Listening to the much awaited Noisia - Split the Atom album.

If you've listened to their live sets over the last year then you might be a little bit dissapointed to know there's not much new in here, but it's still DnB/Electro at its finest.

Looking forward to hearing that myself! Although I did hear a few tracks lately that aren't the sort that I like (such as Crank, Hubcap, Diplodocus etc...), so I am preparing myself to be disappointed...

OK so I have listened to the album now. Glad I prepared myself. What a let down. I don't understand how this keeps happening - particularly with dnb acts. Pendulum used to put out decent tracks and mixes, then when it came to album time it was a total train wreck. Noisia seem to have used them for inspiration. Oh dear, oh dear.

This album was as if Mr Oizo and Daft Punk had thrown up in a bucket, this being the results. Terrible / 10.

I'm unsubscribing from Edge out of protest.

Listened to Vampire Weekend's Contra whilst testing my new noise-cancellation headphones in town.

Although it's today as the thread suggests, I had to mention that I had Last.fm running on my 360 whilst varnishing the bannister. (that's not a euphamism...)

I flicked between funk and stoner rock and just used Badder Than Evil and Priestess respectively to generate the tunes. Some seriously awesome suggestions for both were blasted out and was really impressed!

Just been out and had the Gorillaz "Plastic Beach" on my iPod. Had no intention of buying it but with songs by the likes of Mark E. Smith, Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg & Gruff Rhys I was always going to cave in really.

Also been listening to The Stranglers "The Raven" & "La Folie", Talking Heads "Fear of Music" , Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's "Baby 81" and Johnny Cash's "American VI: Ain't No Grave".
