Brilliant! Love them beats with that jazzy, Roy Ayers vibe to them.

Yeah, they're kind of happy-making, they do it really well, I'm currently re-addicted to them.

Jesus, remember it well, there were some good tracks on that! I'll manage somehow, being brave, class! I've stuck it on now, blast from the past!

Funny, me and my mates were chatting in the pub last week and trying to work out who the blandest mid-90s band were. I think I agreed that it was Gene, but I also suggested Menswear.

It was a little unfair as I've got their first album, have seen them live and really like the Daydreamer single! I think their manufactured background always put me off.

I remember a review in the music press at the time that mentioned the cover art of a futuristic television that is cutting edge at that moment, but will soon seem dated, be overtaken by newer models and soon forgotten...

So it seems that there's some love for Menswear on here, so who do you think was the blaaaaandest 90s band?

Most indie-rock bands had at least one catchy single, so it's hard to pick out one that had a consistently mediocre output!

That TV is a Bang & Olufsen isn't it?

No way are Menswear bland man, sure they nicked their material from anywhere they could, but damn, Sleeping in is well good. I have the Being Brave EP which has live version of that song and 3 others, well worth getting it has a fancy gatefold CD case. As I recall it, didn't they get on the from of NME or Melody Maker before they'd even released a record?

Think you're probably close to the mark with Gene, though everyone seemed to have Olympian, Martin Rossiter was like a bad Morissey.

Oh Menswear were still ****e on the whole, but they did a couple of good tunes, I didn't realise they'd done more than one album though. It got me thinking about similar bands like them, anyone remember gay dad? I think their singles were 'joy!' and 'to earth with love'.

Lol @ Gay Dad. My fave smaller band from the time were Marion, I wanted to be Jaime Harding more than Damo Albran.

I've got "Manage Somehow" by Menswear rattling round my head, but because it's been about 10 years since I last heard it, I've got about 2 lines from the chorus on a loop.

                            Thanks, you chumps!b

Northern Uproar were truly the crusty foreskin residue of Britpop. Grade A turgid Oasis wannabe ****e of the worst kind.
