    A fantastic album.
It certainly is a great album. It also has an energy to it that reminds me of the most hyperactive moments of childhood. And I just love 'Banshee Beat'.

Oh, and Daydream Nation is one of the finest albums ever recorded, imo. You wait until Seany sees this, I know he'll agree with me, too!

I'm about to stick on Cornelius' 'Fantasma' before jumping in the bath.

Wilco, Wilco and more Wilco in preparation for the the gig on Sunday night. If I was anymore excited I would collapse and my head explode. IN the few moments when I am not listening to Wilco our lass is listening to the new new Michael Buble album, which is excellent. I hate it when people about Buble but he is the only current singer who can do justice to such classic songs. His version on Always on my Mind is so good.

Manics are a funny band. Their first two albums were great back in the day, but they haven't aged all that well (though they're certainly better than their newer efforts). I always thought The Holy Bible was they best thing they ever did.

That be true. I'm no fan, but I'll be seeing 'em in about a week in a nice little venue. I'll be able to heckle Nicky Wire.

Everyone says this about the Manics. I disagree. I think every Manics album has something special to offer. Yeah sure Generation Terrorists & The Holy Bible are standouts but I think that after Richie dissappeared it changed their style & they grew up slightly, which was a good thing really. A lot of ppl say that the Manics went **** after Richie's dissapearence i.e. he was the only talented member of the band, but Everything Must Go sounds very different to GT & THB but it was almost finished b4 Richie disappeared, & it was Nicky & Richie that wrote most of the album.

As a "local boy" who grew up listening to them when they really were terrible I loved the 1st LP but didn't buy another until The Holy Bible 10th Anniversary release because the music just didn't sound right to me.
After buying that I then bought all their stuff and much have the stuff I hated at first such as Know Your Enemy, This is my Truth... etc has grown on me after giving them time. I feel it was easier to like Generation Terrorists, Holy Bible etc due to the fact that so much of what is good about it is right on the surface and you can't avoid it. Much of the other stuff has really good music on it but I feel you do have to work harder to get what's going on there.
I think what holds the latest album back is that we continue to compare it to Bible which is completely unfair, if we're going to judge it then we should judge it on it's own merits.

                    Ban request. Sorry...

Havn't heard any of the new manics stuff that they've released recently - looking forward to having a listen.

Portishead - Dummy at the mo. One of my fav albums without a doubt, I might put it top 5, definitely top 10.

Think i'm going to put Love - Forever Changes on in a bit, noticed it earlier and realised how long its been since I gave it a play. Should really do some revision but meh...

                      Tricky - "Pre-Millenium Tension"
Pizzicaro 5 - "Landing on The Moon"
                      Super Furry Animals - "Guerrilla"

Portishead are so good...new album out this year sometime too!

The only below average album the manics have made is Know Your Enemy, which is purely due to too many tracks. FACT! hehe.

My favourite band, I've seen em in double figures and been a fan longer than I can remember.

Super return to form in Send away the tigers which I've been listening to today but to be honest, they never lost form, Lifeblood was excellent, just different.

Candie Payne - I wish I could have loved you more (one single, looped, almost constantly over the last couple of days).

Patti Smith - 12. Between her of Johhny Cash for the ability to cover uncoverable songs and addd something new...brilliant.
