One of the biggest artists in Japan. She is very good, but her English lyrical album was not as well received in the west as she would have liked. Her latest album is Heart Station. Here is her latest single from that. Enjoy

A bit of teen-years 1990s stuff this morning:

Me and You Versus the World - Space
        Placebo - Nancy Boy
        Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight.

I always remember when I first got into the Pumpkins. I was on holiday with my folks on the Isle of Arran. In a deserted shop in the arse end of nowhere they had Tonight on the radio, and it just clicked, the swirling orchestrals and sweeping chord shifts. Back at sixth form a week later, I borrowed a tape of Mellon Collie off a friend and I discovered the delights of 1979, Beautiful, Bullet, Cupid de Locke, Bodies, etc. Good memories.

Listening to old man digital radio station Planet Rock this morning. Neil Young is on with Rockin' in the Freeworld so everything is good.
            What a song.

I dug up some old Sisters of Mercy yesterday and have been listening to it. It's still quite good but has taken on a comical feel in my adulthood.

Neil Diamond, Ghostface and Barry Manilow in the car today. Manilow's "I Made It Through The Rain" is incredible.

I was listening to the Flight Of The Conchords album earlier (songs only) and it still makes me laugh!

                          HIPHOP-POTAMUS VS. RHYMENOCEROUS Song Lyrics:

                          I?m the mother flippin? Rhymenocerous
My beats are fly and the birds are on my back
                          And I?m horny
                          I?m horny
If you choose to proceed you will indeed concede
Cos I hit you with my flow
                          The Wild Rhino Stampede.

I?m not just wild, I?m trained,
                          Domesticated
I was raised by a rapper and rhino that dated
                          And subsequently procreated
                          That?s how it goes
                          Here?s the Hiphopopotamus
                          The hip hop hippo

                          They call me the Hiphopopotamus
                          My lyrics are bottomless...............ahem......cough

                          They call me the Hiphopopotamus
                          Flows that glow like phosphorous
Poppin? off the top of this esophagus
                          Rockin? this metropolis
                          I?m not a large water-dwelling mammal
Where did you get that preposterous hypothesis?
Did Steve tell you that, perchance?
                          Steve.

My rhymes and records they don?t get played
Because my records and rhymes they don?t get made
And if you rap like me you don?t get paid
And if you roll like me you don?t get laid.

My rhymes are so potent that in this small segment
I made all of the ladies in the area pregnant
Yes, sometimes my lyrics are sexist
But you lovely bitches and hoes should know I?m trying to correct this.

                          Other rappers dis me
                          Say my rhymes are sissy.

                          Why? Why? Why?
                          What?
                          Why exactly?
                          What? Why?
Be more constructive with your feedback, please. Why?
                          Why?

Why, because I rap about reality?
Like me and my grandma drinking a cup of tea?
There ain?t no party like my nana?s tea party.
                          Hey! Ho!

                          I?m the motherflippin?
                          I?m the motherflippin?
                          I?m the motherflippin?

                          Who?s the motherflippin?

                          I?m the motherflippin?
                          I?m the motherflippin?
                          I?m the motherflippin?
                          Motherflippin?

Good man. I keep returning to Aim - I've got 'Means of Production, a collection of their singles laying around somewhere - it's just great ambient/soulful music. Original Stuntmaster is my favourite track, even using samples from the great man himself - Evil Knievel .

I've been listening to Everything's the Rush, the third album from Delays. Global domination seems to be on the agenda, and the charm of their debut album is fast becoming a fading memory. That makes me sound like an unbearable music snob - turning my back on a band just as they're on the verge of making it big, but it's massively disappointing to hear Greg Gilbert, who has such a unique voice, impersonating the fella from the God-awful Maroon 5 or something. They've even let the keyboard player sing lead on a couple of tracks, which is like substituting your top striker when you're already a goal down.

But this is ok - cheery and sing-a-longy.
