Newton Faulkner - Built By Humans

It is a great easy listening album!

"If this is it" might be my favourite tune of the year so far.

Absolutely love Faulkner, really great playing style and as you say, lovely to listen to!

This morning, it's Air's new album, Love 2. On first listen, it's a little hit and miss and many of the hits are so familiar from their other albums that I'm not sure just how much this offers. Could well be a grower.

There is one track I adore though, and it got an immediate replay - Tropical Disease. Odd title for it but a great track.

All sorts really - got loads of stuff on the ipod that I've downloaded/nicked off mates, and it's from loads of different genres. So one minute it's classical the next it's mad hip hop. Mainly I do it for the littlun, to see what he dances too.

Anyway - there was a wicked Def Squad remix in there somewhere. Vague eh?

me too, only listened to once but initial view is its the closest thing they've done to Moon Safari.

My favourite song is 'So Much'.

I must say that the last song on the album is somewhat downbeat compared the rest of the songs - it isn't a highly satisfying song to finish the album with especially considering the 'This Town' song feels like the album has finished... if that makes sense to you; a better final song in other words.

My God Betrays by Cherry Ghost, a beautiful sad song that I think is an unmixed track from their next album. seems they are in a label dispute. there were some amazing songs on their debut so hopefully it will get sorted and the new stuff will surface next year

Got the new Flaming Lips alb' yesterday.

Despite the odd moment, really hasn't clicked yet. It all seems a bit bland and oddly half-hearted.

On the plus, got Wayne Shorter's album 'Juju' through the post. An amazing slice of post-bop fun.

tom waits has put the first 8 tracks of his forthcoming live album up on his website for free, its typically bonkers as you'd imagine :-

The album features all eras of Waits’ as he shifts from an array of characters: carnival barker, preacher, country singer, soul balladeer; cabaret singer and storyteller. Backed by a versatile band, Waits departs from the songs’ original incarnations. The songs instrumentation and rhythms are rearranged and reimagined. There are swampy tribal rhythms, ominous hymns, gypsy flavored ballads, searing rhythmic r&b, and blues boogies.. As expected, the songs are about hanged men, woebegone sailors, sword swallowers, fugitives, shamans, ghosts, dance instructors and prison guards
