Well I'm a big fan so I'll have to get it. Just saw it's on iTunes - I didn't think it was supposed to be released yet. The release date is labelled 1998 so it's possible it's a mistake...

Been listening to "RZA as Bobby Digital - Digi Snacks", the third RZA/Bobby Digital CD. They had it in Zavvi for ?2.99, and as I got paid yesterday, I afforded myself the luxury, despite me disliking the 1st Bob Digi Cd and ignoring the 2nd as a result.
A quote on the front of the CD also put me off quite a lot:
"The definitive and most focused album in the Bobby Digital trilogy. RZA"
I mean, the maker of the album is quoting superlatives for himself on the frigging cover, how f*ckin' desperate is that?!
Anyway, despite all that, the bad artwork, it's actually a pretty decent hip hop album, very East Coast, stripped-down beats over vintage Wu soul samples, with plenty of hints at RZA's past genius. It's not a classic by any means, but I was very pleasantly surprised, and it's damned worth ?2.99.
I'm re-listening to it, which is a good sign for me, at least.

Yeah, I couldn't resist buying it from iTunes and I'm loving it. The track, Always Remember Me, is the stand out so far for me. I absolutely adore that. There's something a bit classic about it. Like it could have been an older Brown track but it sounds great. I love it.
And Stellify is excellent too. A great album.

I'm listening to Tiesto's new album, Kaleidoscope. I'm not sure I like it all that much. He always used guest appearances and then did his thing with the production but this one feels like the guests completely took over. There's the guy from Bloc Party, for example, and it would fit perfectly on a Bloc Party album. While that's not a bad thing in itself, it means it doesn't quite fit with the tracks around it.
And the same is true for so many tracks here.
I love the single, I Will Be Here, but there's very little like that here except for a few tracks without guest vocalists where Tiesto actually seems to do what it is he does well. The rest is like an indie compilation album.

Now listening to We Love Machine, the new album from Way Out West and I am absolutely loving it. What happened to release dates, eh? Both this and the Tiesto album were listed for the 6th of October. But the Tiesto one was already on iTunes and I saw earlier that the Way Out West one was available directly from their site - CD plus instant download, which is great.
