Isn’t Raya sitting on Disney+ which has a stupidly large number of subscribers globally? Guessing Tom and Jerry isn’t.

Yep, Disney+ will definitely be having a bigger impact with Raya but I guess that in of itself sets of panic about cinema attendances.
Personally I can't wait for them to reopen again. The difference in experience is all the more obvious and irreplaceable when going after a elongated period.

In addition to the above delays:
EXCLUSIVE: Cineworld has set plans to reopen its Regal cinemas in the U.S. for the first time in six months. The phased process will start with a limited number of cinemas opening for WB/Legendary’s Godzilla Vs Kong on April 2 (note the movie opens on March 31). Regal locations will open more widely on April […]
WarnerMedia has signed a new deal with Cineworld agreeing a new timetable for cinema releases that means from 2022 onward all new theatrical releases will have a minimum 45 days exclusivity window in cinemas before the studio can release films on streaming services or home media. This reduces the window but re-confirms that films from Warner will cease launching on HBO Max from 01 January 2022 (brace for a Matrix 4 delay). Despite what much of Era thinks it doesn't guarantee a films release on the 45th day, just the option too if the studio feels its in their best interest.

At some point the global cinema industry had to show some sign that it was going to reignite and that audiences were developing an interest in returning to the big screen rather than spending all their time streaming and just as March is wrapping up that first flickering ember finally ignited and it literally took two big screen titans to accomplish the feat.
Godzilla v Kong opened at international theatres and clashed its way to a $70m opening in China alone, a tally that more than doubled that accomplished by Tenet last year. The global take ended up as $121.8m with the US still waiting to receive its theatrical/streaming hybrid launch this Wednesday and with many markets still closed. In Australia the film has opened to enough money that it has already overtaken the lifetime gross in that country for Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters had underperformed back when it launched and for a long while a question has hanged on whether more films will come after this latest one that was already in the works at the time. Opening to a third of KOTM's lifetime haul during limited pandemic theatre availability bodes well that Godzilla will rise again.

The pandemic skews the results but given Disney threw Raya to the same market, which would normally make a lot more than GvK, just three weeks ago and its still trailing well behind 'zilla helps show how there's still room for the experience. It'll also help cement how the last 12 months experience of big budget streaming launches isn't going to last much longer either. Outside of Warners, who have already committed to their 2021 plan (and are much more limited anyway when it comes to streaming availability) it's increasingly hard to see streaming launches happened for these types of big films as the second half of the year comes up especially if more examples come up of the theatrical money being lost by doing them.
I can't wait, for all its flaws watching WW84 was a much better experience at cinema than on TV and was a long coming reminder of why I go so much (normally)

Godzilla vs Kong opened in the US where only 55% of theatres are open and most at 50% capacity and... exploded onto the screen. The five day taking was $48.5m which utterly destroyed the hauls of Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984 further extending the films success and adding to its second weekend international takings to lift the film up to a new global tally of $285.8m.

Thanks to a rerelease in Chinese cinemas a great wrong has been committed and Avatar has once again become the highest grossing movie of all time and looks set to be the first movie to pass the marker of $2.8bn at the box office.

It's a very close race but Mortal Kombat looks to have taken the top spot this weekend with a global haul of $50m which is on par with the first film in 1995. Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train came in very close behind Mortal Kombat in the US as well delivering the largest domestic opening for a foreign movie of all time.
Meanwhile Godzilla vs Kong overtook Godzilla: King of the Monsters and landed on a global taking of $404m adding to an incredibly successful pandemic run.
The next cinema release on the schedules isnt' until 14 May when Saw IX: Spiral will arriveLast edited by Neon Ignition; 26-04-2021, 07:00.

Jason Stathams new action film Wrath of Man has opened to a solid $8.1m in the US. Previous strong opener Mortal Kombat has followed Godzilla vs Kong by opening big and tailing off fairly quickly, that said its global haul now rests at $72.98m though its international takings have been much slower than Godzilla's potentially showing that Warners may want to walk away from the franchises big screen ambitions now than face a Fatality after Round 2. Godzilla vs Kong though now sits king atop a $422m treasure.
