The Grand Tour: One For The Road
Two hours long and very far from their best, it's a pretty uneventful episode though it is scenic. It's carried a lot though by the event of it, regardless of the over scripting it's a melacholic special because it's the final one and it and the trio can't escape it being coloured in that light.

I started watching The Grand Tour, but struggled on that first episode. I might watch the specials instead.

More Race Across The World (iPlayer), which continues to be a great show and some astonishing sights.

Got about 3 episodes left of Mr Inbetween (D+). I did not need to know that a vagankle exists.

The missus seems to have seen most of McDonald & Dodds (ITVX) but found one we hadn't seen and it was really good. We didn't guess the murderer and it was proper twisty turny and Dodds is a particularly likeable character that actually does some detecting.

I've been wanting to watch Mr. Mercedes for ages and I clocked it's finally on Prime (after it disappeared from Disney Plus after about 5 seconds). It's been a while since I read the Bill Hodges books (Stephen King's retired detective/serial killer trilogy) so probably a good time to dive in. First episode was very good ... looking forward to watching more.

The thumbnail made it look a bit generic, so is it worth a watch?

Well, the two caveats there are I’m a big Stephen King fan AND I’ve only seen the first episode. But it made a great first impression.

              Deadloch
Australian series that is pitched as a comedy mixed with police drama. The first ep has a couple of amusing moments but we were waving by the second episode, there's certainly a lightness to how the characters interact but comedy is a stretch term. However, actual intrigue started to kick in by the third episode and from the fourth onward we were hooked. By the time it was wrapping up we were fully knee deep on trying to work out the who-dunnit, really good show.

I have been watching Kaos this week on Netflix its a modern day retelling of greek mythology, that’s very funny and dark in equal measures.

The series revolves around Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) a paranoid eccentric who's lost his way. Brooding in gaudy mansion on mount olympus trying to work out why his kids never visiting and the lack of faith he’s seeing on earth. He’s both funny and unnerving in equal measures it’s like the roll was made for him.

It’s got a massive supporting cast with some top class acting talent in and amongst the diverse line up with a lot of british talent that are normally only on the big screen.

The twists and turns keep you on your toes and with so many stories about the gods to pull from it’s surprising nobody did this sooner.

Yeah, same - though it didn't immediately grab me, but I think that's just the baggage of having to introduce a full pantheon of mythological figures and the pain of having to listen to that Orpheus song. Later on when it does actually just get on with spinning a yarn, yeah, it's pretty good!

The Perfect Couple (Netflix) - ensemble cast whodunnit thing that goes through some rather predictable motions of making you suspect every one of the arsehole suspects one-by-one before rug pulling and moving on to the next. Alright?

Aaaand the latest season of Celebrity Race Around the World (BBC). The same light-touch reality meets travelogue formula that I figure we're mostly familiar with now. Think my biggest celeb "what the ****" realisation in this season was that Kelly Brook's stint on The Big Breakfast began when she was 18. EIGHTEEN! The thought of putting someone of that age into that situation seems absolutely insane to me now.

                    Gannibal: Season 01
A Japanese series about a hot tempered cop who is stationed in a remote small village after his predecessor went missing. He quickly begins to realise that that G in the title name can be swapped out with a C. There's actually very little edible action but it's interesting enough and doesn't out stay its welcome.

                      Highly enjoyable crime / comedy

                      The Old Man season 2
National security, Afghanistan, tale with Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow. Very good mix of action and politics.

Only Murders in the building season 4
Has long outstayed it's welcome but we still mostly enjoy it

The rings of power season 2
Great stuff. You know what it's about

Celebrity Race Across The World (iPlayer)
Another lovely series. If you accept that it is "cultivated" to make it interesting, you'll enjoy seeing the sights, meeting the people and seeing the contestants come out of their shells.

Loved this. I'm constantly bemoaning that cosy murder shows are either too silly or no crimes are solved, but this has a great structure of Murder of the week/Mystery of the series. Highly recommended. Not sure I can be arsed with S4 of Only Murders.

                        Nightsleeper (iPlayer)
Really enjoying this. It's got the guy from Gangs of London (which is now on Netflix if you've not seen it) and it's a great technothriller with loads of twists and turns.
Totally ridiculous, but plenty of fun to be had. Watching this with the wife and son. Plenty of effin' and jeffin' but if your kids are fine with that, it's a good watch.

                        Citadel (Prime)
Watched the first episode of this and I should love it: Secret bases, hi-tech weapons and espionage gear and a massive conspiracy to unravel, but I just felt a bit cold after the first episode.

                        Colin From Accounts (iPlayer)
Loved S1 until the penultimate ep pissed it all away with unnecessary conflict to resolve.
S2 picks up with that and the couple have nothing in common but the dog and without it, they have no relationship, which is the opposite of why I loved the first half of S1, they fell in love despite their differences and learned to embrace them and become better people.
She just comes off neurotic every episode and we probably won't finish the series. Gutted.

There's a few highlights in S2 of Colin from Accounts, but deffo loses a lot compared to S1. Shame.

10 minutes into episode 1. Nope. Unbearable

If you had given it more of a chance like I did, Brad, and stuck it out to episode 2, you’d find that actually it manages to get even worse than unbearable. After getting through the chore of 4 seasons, it should have been an easy sell to get me to finish it. But nope.

I loved Strange New Worlds though.

I'm so behind, I still haven't watched Season 4 yet. I'm in the boat that I didn't find anything wrong with Season 1, Season 2 was alright too. For me the time jump to 'fix' the show was a bad move, did nothing but detract from it in Season 3.
