Canon-Strike XII: Rocky

The one entry I haven't watched yet is the director's cut of Rocky IV that came out not long ago. I've heard good things about it, especially how it cuts some of the more eye rolling elements of the original so that version may possibly sit better alongside Creed II

I'm getting the psychic vibe that it removes the robot, which is unacceptable

Film 09 - Creed III
The first entry in the franchise that doesn't feature Rocky and barely makes reference to the character also as Creed finds himself at the peak of his career only to be challenged by a childhood friend who is fresh out of prison. Scoring solid reviews and performing well at the box office, the film cemented that the series could continue without Stallone even though he disagrees with that.




A Knock Out or Standing on the Shoulders of a Giant?

With Creed 3 I feel like it shows that the basic formula of the Rocky franchise is pretty clear. The main issue being that despite how much the character clearly appeals to younger audiences, Creed has always felt like too much of a blander greatest hits tour of Rocky. Whereas Creed 2 passed itself as almost Rocky IV Part II, Creed 3 might do Rocky dirty to a degree but it does still feel like elements of Rocky 2-4 reheated. If these weren't continuations of the Rocky franchise I'm still not convinced they'd have been nearly as well recieved. With each one they're becoming less essential, whereas Jordan plans a rapid expansion of the universe based on Creed I feel the time to wrap things up is near.
