    Same.

I do understand that, sometimes, an old look or old effects can be a barrier to new people discovering a film. I'm not sure that would be the case with Terminator. I feel like, by the time you get to effects that might look particularly dated (like that head) you're either in or out by that stage anyway. Any wider future war flashbacks seem very similar to me in both T1 and T2. If he left the film intact (as in the same edit) and the original was always there to see, I would have no problem with him releasing some sort of special edition with modern effects. It's not needed though.

On both Terminator films and Aliens, as amazing as some of them looked, I do think Cameron always reached a little further than his budget or tech allowed. Aliens, for example, is far more ambitious than Alien but I think Alien has aged better as a result. T2 looks amazing in most places... but not everywhere. And yet I don't think in any of those cases that the effects made the films worse. They all work for the storytelling, as do the effects in T1.

To be honest, I like what that guy's done, but feel it's a slippery slope to making Greedo shoot first and changing guns to walkie talkies.

For sure. And those 4K editions that apparently were supervised by him wouldn't fill me with confidence about his judgement.

Cronenberg Brundlefly. On a related note, check out the most recent poster on this thread.

            Fantastic Four
The 2005 version as we continue taking the kids through the extended MCU lineage as it now stands. It's lightness kind of carries it mostly through all the many dated elements, especially given how the F4 generally suck to begin with

                The Never Ending Story.
I have two copies of this on BluRay. The first release then an updated one that came out 3 years later and features all the previous German exclusive extras including the making and a very interesting 1984 1 hour documentary that shows so much behind the scenes, clips from the original German release and so on. There's also a documentary on the remastering that goes in to how they had to scan the original 35mm negatives form the international release and splice in parts from the original German release because the international release was cut. Fantastic extras.

As for the movie, well it still holds us extremely well. As an adult it's clear to see that each section of the story isn't very long at all. Characters can be in one place then suddenly in another. There's a feeling of a large chunk missing at times but that's how it was made.
I still throughly enjoyed the movie. It also made me sad to know nothing like this has been made in the last 20 odd or more years.
There's no stupid comic relealf crap, no dumb jokes, no unwanted action scenes and definitely no adult humor.
It's a pure clean fantasy movie for kids that can appeal to adults.

If you've never seen the Neverending Story, I suggest checking it out.

                  The Dark Knight
The plot really doesn't stand up to scrutiny, it's still very much a film comprised of strong scenes and performances rather than coming together as well as Begins. Still overall a good film, but still over rated given the scale of praise.

Agreed. I've tried to get into it numerous times (I love Batman) ... and Ledger's Joker is brilliant, along with trilogy regulars Oldman and Caine ... but it never quite hits the mark as an overall package. And I hate to say it (probably over and over here, sorry) but Bale's performance spoils these films. He's a great actor too Nolan should have reigned that Bat voice right in.

Even on my first watch, I remember thinking that the movie would likely work better without Batman. Take him out of it and you have much more of a crime film with Gordon versus the Joker. The dude in a big bat costume with the funny voice sends it into the ridiculous at times.

Best bit is all the occasions when he has private one to one conversations with Lucius, Rachel or Alfred dressed as Batman but keeps the voice going

                            Glorious nonsense

                            The Dark Knight Rises
                            Reasonable nonsense

Enjoyable, I remember it being more funny than it is though

                              X-Men 3: The Last Stand
Flawed but watching it these days, it's nowhere near as bad as its rep

I thiiiink, FF13VI was my first one? Or maybe the one where he harpoons the guy in the nuts as he gets out the lake?
This is quite a pivotal moment of the series as it's the first time he becomes supernatural and unstoppable.
Not sure if this was a good or bad choice, but it's definitely a fun film.

That opening section of Dark Knight Rises with the plane heist is top-tier Nolan, but the rest kind of fades out. I'm convinced Bane freestyling is canon now.

At Camp Bestival, the fancy dress theme was "Time Travel" and I hoped to get some costume ideas, but in the end we neither dressed up nor saw the film beforehand, but I really liked the idea of us dressing up like Napoleon, Abraham Lincoln, Bill and Ted.
Anyway, I corrected the last error by sitting us all down to watch Excellent Adventure together.
There's some swearing (when Napoleon loses at bowling, "dickweed") and some bits that have aged ("fag", lighters in the air at a concert), but it's still an absolute gem of a movie that still makes me laugh and I saw new things on this lovely crisp new restoration Blu-Ray.
I'm looking forward to dipping into the exrtras too, especially Alex Winters' commentary.
