Luffy is both the funniest character ever, and the most plain annoying character, depending on the situation. There are times I find him hillarious... there are times when his attitude really bugs me. But you'll see that for yourself.
One Piece is a great series though once it gets started. Don't let the earlier 'silly' episodes put you off.

Just saw the first episode of Honey & Clover II and it brought such a huge smile to my face - it was like a reunion with some old friends who I'd not seen in ages. Was the animation always that good? It really did show up some of the stuff currently floating around for the cheap tat it is. Roll on episode 2!

Interesting how Girls High (aka High School Girls) is becoming pretty decent now. It started out really terrible (especially the preview), totally lacking in substance and being fanservice goes too far, but the last batch of episodes have been much deeper with greater focus on the characters themselves, and the fanservice is much more sutle and less cringe-worthy.

Anyone who was put off by the first few episodes of the series might wanna give it another go.

I haven't seen it yet. It slipped through amongst all the other shows I started watching from the last season. I guess it also doesn't help that I'm not the biggest fan of Lime Anime's subs and to my knowledge no one else is subbing it. I may check it out after it's been finished.

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni eps 5-6 - Triad finally released up to episode 7. I've seen 5 and 6.

It's basically a reset and a retelling of the story from a new perspective. I wonder if this is what the rest of the show is going to be like. Episode 5 was very similar to episode 1, in that it started of with a very disturbing scene and then procedes to some cutesy stuff. This time it's focusing on Shion who is basically Mion's twin sister. There was no sign of her in the last arc though. But some stuff remains the same. Ep 6, those two outsiders get killed again. This time they seemed to be a lot more cocky though. The inspector as well seems much more suspicious this time around. Doesn't seem like there's any suggestion at this point that Keiichi is mental or drugged up like last time or that's what it seemed like to me.

Very good so far although I guess I'm the only one following it.

Blood+ 33-34 - Just adds to my feeling that this is how the show should have been from the start. I guess this way we see the development of the characters.

I like the new Saya and Kai personalities. They're both a lot more kickass and I guess Kai is filling in the David role of being the badass normal human. Though it does look like David might be getting back to his old self. I guess that's the only disappointing thing with the timeskip, the way David's turned out. I hope Saya stays this way, she was one of the more annoying characters after a while, during the first half of the show.

Those corpse corps guys seem pretty cool too. Although it seems to me they're an accident waiting to happen. I've forgotten but weren't they in development for Solomon or whatever that chevalier with the beard was called? Also from the end of episode 34 it looks like the Diva-Rikku offspring is about to be introduced or maybe I'm mixing it up with Diva.

Some of the new shows have been subbed. Off the top of my head there's subs out for Coyote Ragtime, Tsuyokiss, Muteki Kanban Musume and Zero No Tsukaima.

I saw Muteki Kanban Musume ep1 by Doremi. Their usual standard really, not the best but adequate. The show itself seems much more like a gag show, frenetic and really random I guess. The first episode at least had very little to do with the actual cooking of food. It's basically about this poster girl working for her mother's ramen store who is supposed to attract customers. There's also a bakery across the road with her rival voiced by Koshimizu Ami(Nina from Mai Otome). Not the funniest show I've seen but I got a few laughs from the first episode, particularly the mother daughter relationship, so I'll stick with it for the time being. 12 episodes long so it shouldn't be too much trouble to keep up with. Lots of SD faces and stuff and the main girl is really violent. Not one I'd readily recommend at this point unless your a fan of comedy animes, even then it might not be your cup of tea.

            Blood+ 33/34 ?

enjoyed the ep?s, wish the time skip had been 2-3 years gives Kai a chance to bulk up abit, still sad to see the normal human?s are still to weak to even take on a single Mouse, and the change in personalities has come as welcome change, Kai is now David and Saya?s no-nonsense attitude but is strangely indifferent to Kai, I can only guess Rikku death?s effected her quite a bit and doesn?t want to see other get hurt for was her mistake/fault. Love the new outfit to, makes Saya look hot instead of cute even with the drop in a animation.

Honey?n?Clover ep2 ? return to form(not that it ever lost it),

some top stuff with the Hic-cup theme, seems it based around Morita/Hagu/Takamoto thing again for those 3, but im expecting Morita to dropout of that triangle as there was the hint in the episode at why he?s earning so much money. Still it funny him counting hic-cups to Hagu ?death? and Taka?s brutal lariat. Also looks like the Rika/Mayama things sow up now which would hopefully let Yamada move on after 26eps of fruitless endeavours to get Mayama.

H&C2 ep 2 - Good stuff again, although it's better than last week for purely because it's some new stuff.

I do wonder what's going to happen with the Morita/Hagu/Takemoto triangle. Morita seems like he wants to drop out anyway for Takemoto's sake. Hagu obviously(IMO) likes Morita but her feelings towards Takemoto at the moment seem to be that of just friends. Looking forward to finding out regardless. Loved Takemoto's clothesline on Morita . I've missed this show

Saw two new shows in the form of Tsuyokiss and Zero No Tsukaima.

Tsuyokiss ep 1 - Subs were ok, I think there's only one out there at the moment. The episode itself was ok, it had it's moments and was fairly lighthearted. Can't really say anything at this point apart from not much else happening in the first ep, save from character introductions. Slightly disappointed but it could get better so I'll stick with it for the time being.

Zero No Tsukaima ep1 - Main two VAs are the same as those of Shana and Yuuji, and they have a similar sort of personalities and relationship. I enjoyed this more than Tsuyokiss and I'll definitely be sticking it with it for the time being. Continuing my useless comparisons, it's basically Harry Potter meets Shakugan with a more lighthearted feel to it(at this point). A bit of fanservice in it as well. Good first episode, as they introduce the characters and set the ball rolling for the story.

There's obviously something special about that guy Louise summoned, especially with the guy looking up his rune in that old book. I'm guessing he's some uber powerful familiar or a chosen one or something

It could be a crap story but being that it's basically adapted from some novels I'm hoping it turns out to be decent. Most novel readers have said it gets better later on, with a war breaking out IIRC. Wonder if it'll get that far since it's down for 13 eps at the moment. If you hadn't realised it's quite cliche, so if you're expecting something different look elsewhere.

saw the first episode of 'welcome to the NHK' today, seems good so far.
looks to be about a guy with agoraphobia(?), he's hardly stepped out of his apartment in over a year, but now some girl has turned up to help him out.
doesnt really look to be an out and out comedy, but had some pretty funny instances with weird dreams and a particular nun fixation among others. i'll definately follow this one.

coyote ragtime show looks really nice too. first half of the episode is a little slow, but it really kicks off later. quite a lot of interesting characters introduced but little in the way of story, baring the cop after escaped prisoner, but i assume there will be a few twists to come. certainly seems worth sticking with too.

Nana ep 12 - Oh my! great little episode, and the ending was fantastic.

Am i the only person wanting Sachiko and Shouji to get together? Loved the little sences in the classroom, with her eve's dropping and Shouji trying to think of something to say on the walk home. I like Sachiko character just a bit more than Nana and it could make for a get back-bone building reality check Nana needs and would make a great story. Could this push Nana in to Nana arms? let hope so .

Don't like the new graphics for the ending song(which is still the same), which hopefully be a one off because of how poor it looks.

                          Nana ep 12 -

I wanted the Shouji - Nana relationship to work out but it definitely seems to be over now. Sachiko and Shouji make a nice couple and they seem suited to each other. Just don't like the way things happened, which makes me dislike Sachiko's character. "I will never get between you and your girlfriend" and then she's in bed with him the next minute. It takes two to tango as they say and so Shouji is as much at fault as well. I guess at this point I dislike Shouji more, simply because he must realise at that point that he's in love with Sachiko. So why not break it off with Hachi first and then get together with Sachiko. Sure Hachi will be hurting but not as much as if/when she finds out about the situation as it is now.

Put it this way, I wouldn't shed a tear if Sachiko and Shouji were to break up(if indeed they have got together), I'd probably applaud it at this point. I guess you could say Hachi doesn't help things with her relationship with Shouji, but so far at least she hasn't cheated on him(IIRC) although she's been really flirtacious with a few people. Not looking forward to the effect it's going to have on Hachi

. Great stuff as I've come to expect from the show so far.

Girls High (High School Girls) is at episode 12, and that's the final episode for this series.

As I mentioned before, this series got to a pretty rocky start, but it really started to pick up around episode 5-7 and improved ever since.
I think most of us were initially put off with the fanservice, or rather the way it was implemented... it's really some of the strongest stuff I've come across in a series that's supposed to just be plain anime. It holds nothing back, and isn't afraid to do whatever the writers are thinking of, there's seemingly nothing they're afraid of. Dispite being partially funded by Geneon, I can't see this getting a western release.

But once the characters are fleshed out, it doesn't seem quite as mindless, and the series becomes much more enjoyable. They seem to get better at making it actually fit into the plot as the series goes along too.

They've left it very much open for another series, and I do hope for one.

saw the first episode of another new show earlier today...chevalier.

wasnt really sure what it was suppossed to be, and nearly turned it off half way through because i wasnt liking it much, but thought i should stick it out. and towards the end there is indeed a bit of a twist

                              vampires and posession

...certainly not what i was expecting, so i'm quite intrigued to see where it goes now.
i think it certainly has promise, just have to see where the next few episodes take the story.

edit: finished up watchinng jigokou shoujo today too, the last few episodes were really nice. you finally get to see some of the overall story, how she became the hell girl and how its connected to the reporter and his daughter.
would have been nice if it had all been intertwined into the individual episodes a bit better though, but still a series i enjoyed a lot.

Got Chevalier downloaded. Have yet to check it out though. It was one of the new shows I was looking forward to. Hopefully I'll enjoy it.

                                Blood+ 35&36 -

Some good fights in there. Although the whole thing about having a perfect stage to kill Saya on just smacks of the whole stupid villain thing. They could have ended the show right there with Saya being offed. She did do some damage to James so I'm guessing the next time she'll take out one of the chevaliers. The Corpse Corps kicked arse, admittedly against the relatively weak Sif, but it was good to see though with the reveal it shouldn't be too surprising since they are a more complete version of the Sif.

One of the best bits of the two episodes for me has to be David. He's back to his old self would have been lovely if he'd offed Van Argeno, with the pen somehow. Not checked the preview at the end of ep 36 so I've got no idea what's coming up.

. 37 left to watch and I'll have caught up.

Aria the Natural ep 3 - Been really slow with this one for some reason. Not to say I haven't enjoyed it, just that I've not really gotten round to watching the episodes. Wicked episode all the same and perhaps a contender for my faourite episode from both seasons.

Best bits have to be the Aika-Al moments throughout the episode. Hopefully coming episodes might expand on that relationship, if there is one as Al seems oblivious at the moment. Nice to see a softer side to Aika as well for a change. Shows loads of things that I enjoy about the show in this one episode. The humour, the relaxed pace, slice of life nature and now to add to that they seem to be throwing in a romance. Just makes it better for me.

. Maybe it's just me but the animation seems lower quality compared to last season. Still doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show since the animation quality isn't really one of the reasons why I loved it so much. Better animation would obviously be lovely, but I guess it's one of those shows where I can forgive it for the drop in quality.

Best news of the day - Black Lagoon season 2 has been announced. No tentative episode counts or air dates yet. But just the fact that it's coming is good enough for me. Hopefully they take their time and reproduce the same quality shown in the first season. Wouldn't mind waiting a bit for it. Now if we can get similar confirmations for a Genshiken 2nd season, haruhi 2nd season and a new FMP season that would make my year.
