Just watched Sumomomo momomo, god I needed to watch some funny anime badly.
Really enjoyed it, though I'm not sure quite how long the joke can stay funny... but the introduction of new characters in the forthcoming eps should make sure it keeps entertaining.

I think Sumomomo, alongside Deathnote, D. Gray-Man, Pumpkin Scissors and Ghost Hunt will be the shows I'll be keeping up with this season, unless you guys reckon there are other special shows I should be keeping up with. This is alongside Naruto, Bleach, One Piece (KF ones) and Powerpuff Girls Z anyway. A good balance there I reckon.

As for Naruto filler... no need to say it's gotten beyond a joke, of course. I'm still watching it myself mind. That said, the most recent batch of filler has been of much higher quality than the tripe we've had for most of the year, though the sooner they move back to the manga, the better. It's giving the show a much undeserved bad reputation, and I fear it's going to loose face with many people like DBZ did. Which is criminal, as just like DBZ, Naruto just doesn't deserve the critisism it gets... but at the same time, it's their own fault by milking the filler to exhaustion. The Bleach method of one long, reasonable quality filler arc was a much wiser decision than these little ones.

I was going to lol, but it just wouldn;t feel right watching it without checking out the original first, and I've not got that kind of spare time! I'm happy with the set I'm watching though, considering I'm also trying to squeeze in Lyrical Nanoha, Sasami Mahou Shoujo club (when they finally get round to subbing ep 2 that is) etc.

I seem to be the only person here watching Powerpuff Z though... flippin' ingrates! I look forward to every new ep. Then again, it's more my kinda thing.

Sod the original, i've never seen it as so it feels fresher than most of the show out there andi don't feel like im missing out on anything.

I can't believe i forgot about Yuuichi "uguu" bit, that is the best bit of the episode, the combo of the sarcastic tone and screwd up face just make me laugh everytime.

Sumomomo momomo ep1/2 - bejesus its a bit riske', not seen the likes of this type of anime since Rizelmine but with stupid kung fu instead of a robot girl. Still i laughed quite a bit and enjoyed Rizelmine fiflth to so i can see me liking this..

Tenpo Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi ep 1/2 - Samurai'esk edo japan anime for the season? Reminded me of some Ghilbi stuff with the 'gods', enjoyable.

Black Lagoon ep15 - great ep, shows the difference between two psycho's and a military outfit like Hotel Moscow

and inthe end those kids just got owned bad, the 1st twin took it pretty bad, knee cap blown out and then his hand blown off, crazy. And then the 2nd twin with Rock doing his injustice stuff(as normal) which was kind of touching he got through to her alittle bit and then she got finished off in a unglamious way, nice they both got there own ending credits to.

Looks like its back to the comedy after all this seriousness.

Negima ep3 - Wow, totally reworked fight between Negi and Eva, asuna got to wear the outfit she only just got in the manga, and gets to start with her kickass great sword instead of the paper fan. And that was it, they've totally shed all the character development inbetween the eva arc and Kyoto arc(which looks set to be next going on what people have side about the 4th episode, which also get a new ending), leaving all to showing a few things that happened inthe manga via a montage of 2d paper mario style cutouts, so i can't see the this being to benefit of those you haven't read the manga or original tv show. I hope the summer OVA subbed soon, seen the screencaps and it looks fan service-tastic

any of you read the latest chapter of one piece(432)?

it looks like oda is finally starting to answering some questions left unanswered.
i wont spoil it (unless you read the spoilers) but my god... after all the drama from the water 7 arc you might have expected a 'chill out' period but no.. this one chapter is a massive turning point in the series and is so unexpected yet brilliant.

we pretty much get luffy's family tree in this chapter.
1st garp is luffy grandad and 2nd we find out who and what his dad is.

... its Dragon ( remember all the way back in rouge town, when he appeared from no-where to stop smoker catching luffy). hes the world Gov. no1 most wanted.

also nice return by a powered up Coby

story started to make sense and alot of characters got payoff's especially Anemone face turn which although seemingly mostly against her character for most of the show until the final couple of espisodes you could see them teasing it and her final battle with theEND was ace(swear i've heard the fight music elsewhere) and she got the live . Everyone got a happy ending which is like to see but, very final bits made Renton and Eureka look like forest pixies which just looked totally stupid, they should have ended it with them turning up and end it there with everyone welcoming them back..

Just finished it myself and gotta say it was a good ending to the show IMO.
                  Final episodes -

Didn't really have the same problem with Renton and Eureka in the end as you did. I thought it was all quite fitting, although perhaps they could have done an added scene for them returning home "properly" like you mentioned. I'm glad about Anemone too, I didn't like her all that much for most of the show as she seemed to be your standard psycho enemy pilot but watching the last couple of episodes you see all the crap she's been through(e.g. that bit where they are in the lab and those three test subjects die) so I'm glad she got her happy ending.

They pretty much wrapped everything up really nicely and explained all the important plot points(I think) and as you said it all started to make sense. One thing I would have liked to see is maybe Holland visiting Talho in the hospital after their baby's been born or something. I'd have liked to have seen the other characters for one last time, I'm thinking a planetes-style montage at the end. Oh well, other than that I've got no complaints with the way it ended. The last few episodes were extremely cheesy but in a good way(if that's possible) and extremely colourful.

Finally I'd say that the animation and stuff in the final few episodes was awesome, there was some stunning stuff in there ep49 combat sequences for example. It was all really colourful too(e.g. ep 50) which IMO made it quite unique. Some of the sequences were almost as good as those in gunbuster 2 although not quite on the same scale. In fact for the most part the series had some fantastic animation, a few drops(which is understandable) here and there but other than that it was pretty consistent. Loved the music used throughout too. I loved pretty much all the op, ed and insert songs used plus some of the musical pieces that play during the episodes. Definitely gonna have to track down the OST. I think I'll probably be getting the DVDs of this eventually. Great show IMO and one of the best I've seen so far this year.

Went on for a bit longer than I intended too...

Got the OST for it couple of days ago, OST 1,2 and original 2 mix are posted on A.B.sounds.anime newsgroup onthe 20th of oct. Its got some great tunes and i also finally realized where i heard theEND battle theme, its the extact song used inthe ehrgiez intro way back on the PS1 (i own cos dreamfactory made it and they made the tobal series).

One Piece manga - null are behind by 2 chapters at the moe, but im reading the spoilers on other forums. ch430 -

made me shed a tear for merry, sad ending for it but it managed to save the strawhats one last time and its little speech about being sorry to travel with them only more adventures is heart wrenching, can't not wait till see that animated(always enjoy the emotional scenes in anime form more). And then to stuff about VA Garp and Coby and Hippo coming back even using sora(soro?) something only CP9 have demostrated so far sound ace. I love all attention oda gives secondary characters like Coby we haven't seen in ages, im hoping we'll see a return of a powered up Tashigi/smoker, Jango/Fullbody/Hina and Bono Clay, Buggy and the likes. Best shounen manga at the moe, Bleach has gone very stale and Naruto still good but OP is just so much better

                      Naruto - ch328 - Oh dear,

Asuma goes down. i thought it wasn't going happen until Hidan did his curse move again and totally owed Asuma, no amount of medical jitsu gonna save him. Loved his last words, with Ino, Chouji and Shika all teary eyed and Shiki smoking Asuma last ciggy for him

Gash Bell ep82 - good episode to move things on inte final battle.

Loved Patie going all out on the big guy knocking down with a little help from frog guy when gash and co couldn't even do that (though that cool bit where there all taken out by the big guys Gun spell with the huge metal rods rocked). And then Patie redeems her earlier bad ways, smashing the moonstone while her books on fire while expecting the big guy to kill her before she teleports back to the demon world for revenge was super touching when Gash summons up enough strenght to save her from a fatal attack

agree so much with you on the one piece front.

who would have thought that merry's last moments could have caused so much emotion. you just felt so sorry because merry couldnt continue its journey, especially as it was trying to apologise, yet the strawhats knew without merry they wouldnt be where they are now and are so grateful to merry.
Should be interesting to see how Franky builds the next Strawhat's ship.

I haven't been watching much anime recently but death note has managed to hook me again. I haven't read the manga but love the dark feel to it. Also interested in watching the movie now

Black Blood Brothers ep1-6: finally got around to watching some of it, animations and art is all over the place looks good to meh one second to the next, and the main vampire guy is way to powerful (Alucard style) at the moments for the normal vampires but hopefully that will changed when they introduce proper villians. Love the human women in it, she makes at great foil for main lead and has such a cool and interesting voice and personality. Looking forward to the rest of it.

Tokimeki ep2/3 - strange way to kick things of with him getting that girl as his girlfriend which he doesn't want, seems they'll introduce a new girl every week before we can get down to the match ups. i like the stuff with the popular girl 'legends', and that guy managing to get into trouble all day long.

                          Nana ep22-25 -

New opening really grown on me, like it alot. Love the drama between love triangle and Hachi being so weak willed thanks to her breakup and general attuitde at the moment, at least Takumi not being a total dickhead and not spending his time with other women, but you still get that felling he just using Hachi at the moment to get one over Nobu, and it doesn't help Nobu being just as weak as Hachi(which makes them soul mates in my book, there to dammed alike) so i can see this going badly for some time to come. The stuff with Shin and Reira is good with me, i think Shin fallen for her and Reira just lonely(i reckon), wonder if she develop love for him. Also poor Yasu no NanaO or Reira...

                          NHK ep15/16 - LOL,

had me in hysterics both eps i could spot all the mmorpg problems and spot all the ffxi parodies, loved Misaki dressing up to save him and Yamazaki playing as Mia all that time and the way he revealed himself to Sato about is classic.

Happiness ep1/2 - its like Maburaho, but the bloke hates magic instead of being useless at it(i reckon, he's hiding it for some reason). Not sure if i'll keep with it yet, not enough characters for something like this, seems theres just a single love interest. Also theres a 'trap'

Finished watching the first 4 episodes of Death Note; really loving the dark tone to the story about

how one student's mission to "fix" the world with the book is obviously starting to bring out a more sinister side to him.

                              Just watched Death Note 5.

Totally loving this show, love how there's no 'true justice' or 'good guy, bad guy' here, really refreshing.... just when you begin to empathise with Kira, he does something to throw you off wack

                              like killing the FBI agents

. Genuinely can't wait to see what the next eps hold.

I keep putting of watching Death Note latest episodes during watching other stuff. Try and watch ep4 and 5 tomorrow, i think a dreading watching Light version of 'Juctice' grow

Had problems this week with the new HD codec, been able to play them fine until Bartender and Pumpkin Scissors ep5, 2.4g machine and 1g ram can't play them , had to do some routing around to see if my codec packs where out of date but no, it appears the CCCP coded for .h264 is not good enough for the resolutions above 1024x576 so spent ?5 on getting a better codec which runs PS ep5 prefect, but Bartender only the animation functions well but the sound is well out of sink so i've totally given up on that series. I hope this isn't the start of how things will become... means buying a new PC.

Negima! OVA - been waiting for this since it was released a while ago, just like the new TV series it's patchey in animation(many in the still scenes and the sky-diving bit but that more due to the speed) coming strong in action parts. Anyway there's a crap load of Fan service and a nice simple story of Negi and Asuna patching up there relationship after misunderstanding. Some next outfits, lots of jiggle, Set-chan totally preving on Konoka ass(to the max) and Asuna looking totally hot, specially in that since near the end when she forgives Negi the anaimtions goes through the roof. Anyway SHAFT really know how to animate hair

Pumpkin Scissors ep5 - decent comedy episode with plenty of lol moments, mostly the nurse and the peeing glass bottle that wouldn't fit.

Kanon ep5- fav show at the moment, even if i don't like the way the girls are drawn. Its all down to 'k'yuiichi being the 'man', total player and well funny when doing it, that trick with the porno mag was class(among other things) he's like a Super Kyon with Rin's pulling power

Bokura Ga Ita ep14-18 - finally caught up and im glad i did, right behind Kanon and Nana as top shows at the moment,

the interation during the break up is brilliant, Yano trying his best to get back into Nanami's good books and Take trying his best to win her heart to, but ends up being to much of good friend just when he can 'win' her over was pretty heart wrenching wasn't sure who i wanted to win as they do such a good job developing this characters that it can even show Honey'n'Clover a thing or two. And by ep18 Yano walls have finally broken down and i think we've seen the last of angsty Yano.
