I think the problem with Tsubasa is it isn't good until they start the intermingling of the xxxholic and tsubasa storylines. With the 2 anime series as well not actually providing any of the main plot as well as being rather slow paced, it proves to put a lot of people off. Well, if the 2nd xxxholic series brings in the tsubasa story, you may wish to have a look at it again.

Watched the first 2 new shows:
Rosario + Vampire - Good god it's fan service. It's quite a nice adaptation in terms of the animation from the manga though but I might give up on it from the service and silly sound-effects the voice actors/actresses keep making.

H20: Hmm. Very...interesting. Definitely seems to have something other than a regular ecchi harem show. Was quite interested by the whole

main lead a blind person. It would have been good to seen how they would have continued it if they left him blind. The violent attacks against Hiayami) was unexpected too.

    Edit: Missed this;
How much did you try of Paradise Kiss? It took me a while to sink into it, none of the characters came across as likeable straight away to me but I enjoyed it in the end.
I watched the entire series but just felt frustrated by it, mainly by the development of the relationship between George and Caroline. Their interactions with each other just seemed too...nonsensical is the best way I can think of. I didn't believe they were working the way they should have although this may be down to how they ended the anime.

First ep of Spice and Wolf is out then. Not too bad I thought. Bit funny to hear the realtively youngish voice of Lawrence(Lelouch from Code Geass and Horo being Karen from the same series) come from someone with silver hair and a goatee but he's only supposed to be 26 so I guess it works out. Nice opening track too although the ed is a bit hmm. Overall quite good.

Spice and Wolf ep1 - Really enjoyed that, kind gave me that Kino no Tabi feel if there goning to continue with traveling around the world. Nice art and animation and for the moment liekable main leads. Good op and ed. (also suffers from classic anime clich'e no-nipple'icitis)

Sketchbook ep3-10 - took me ages to get back into it, mainly cos im not fan of the lead girl or the comedy duo... like Aria but with out the fantasy backdrop carry the boring/lazy moments. The inclusion of the cats 'world' though kinder copied right out of Aria book is a welcome addition.

hayate ep39 - third season last episode packed full of animation style used for Tengen Toppa Gurran Lagann, including the Gurran Lagaan robot turning up in full colours, kickass eye catches(aka row'row'fight'da'power) and a ally stupid ending... but at least it contained lots of Hinagiku

Sky Girls ep24-26 - finally finished of, seems like ages waiting for ep26 to come out. Anyway fairly dull ending to the WORM battle which was quite a shame, ep26 totally given up for 'after the war' stuff for the girls which was good and kinder made up for ep25.

True Tears ep1 to watch and shaky cam bleach movie 2

tokyotosho.com is the ONLY place to look for downloads.

minimi-ke okawari was on the other night but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I am now up to date on D.Gray-man but still have to watch the eps of Bamboo Blade, Shana 2nd and Gundam 00 that got lost when my HDD recorder messed up the other week. But last night I finally copied Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (including ep5.5 and uncensored 6) onto my other laptop so I can watch eps in work now...though 13.4GB is a bit much...

True Tears ep 1: Quite a good first ep! Some really nice animation and a good soundtrack (Op by Eufonius ) and it generally seems quite interesting. Only bit I didn't like was the main guy's silly poetry-type lines near the start.

It's certainly a good resource but I wouldn't say it's the only place to look. It's not particularly brilliant if you are looking for some older shows for example. But it's good for the newer stuff. It's usually my first port of call when looking for any show.

              Anyway, new season shows...

Rosario ep1 - I quite enjoyed that although I'm not too keen on the panty flashes every few seconds. I'm hoping it'll have some epic moments like Karin. I thought it was decent and lighthearted so I'll be following it just for a bit of a change from the other shows I'll be watching. I'm not expecting great things from it, I suppose it'd be my guilty pleasure for this season.

h20 - more interesting than I initially gave it credit for when I did that mega post. Still found some scenes unintentionally hilarious with the way they handled them but other than that it should be a nice replacement for shows like ef which I am just about to finish up. Colour me surprised. I think I see where the series is going but who knows? It may surprise me again. There's certainly something there with that Kohinata girl.

True tears, Spice and Wolf and They are my noble masters to watch still...

edit: Spice and Wolf ep 1 - Loved that. Seems exactly like my sort of thing. Nice OP, ED is not bad either but I prefer the OP at the moment. Art and animation is decent to good at times, not a huge deal of fanservice (if you could even call it that), an interesting premise, likable characters and a nice setting (I do quite like the settings like this when it goes back to simpler times as it were). What's not to like? Probably my favourite of the new stuff as it stands. I just hope it keeps it up.

True Tears ep 1 - Agreed with Mr. Jeff regarding this. The animation was surprisingly good and other than the poetry he mentioned nothing much for me to complain about. It has the type of atmosphere I generally dig, in shows like this which is always a plus. Music was nice, no one too annoying in the first episode either, which again is a plus. Again pleasantly surprised by something I had initially written off. I think I prefer it to h2o as well, but I'll probably still be keeping up with both unless something ridiculous happens in either. Seems like Moetaku might be the subs to go for with this show. Lots of familiar names and in general their release was good.

I've been out of the loop for a loooong time as far as anime series go, but I'd quite like to start watching again. As an indicator of how long ago I'm talking, the last stuff I got was the first 13 episodes of Bleach as they aired and Matantei Loki Ragnarok.

I could do with some recommendations from folks if they'd be so kind. Anything with a bit of mystery in it is right up my street. If I'm going to jump in at the deep end I'd appreciate a life belt of some kind to aim for .

Hmm... the first post has a few shows that might be good starting points for you. Some stuff with mystery that you might like such as Detective Conan (very long, about 400+ episodes and a fair few OVAs/Specials/Movies) or Detective Academy Q.

Some other recent and not so recent stuff that I've enjoyed:
                  Planetes
                  Mushishi
                  Genshiken
                  School Rumble
                  Aria
                  Dennou Coil
                  Seirei No Moribito
                  Darker than Black
                  Honey and Clover
                  Nana
                  Twelve Kingdoms
                  Yakitate Japan
                  Nodame Cantabile
                  Black Lagoon
                  Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
                  The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi

I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting (which hopefully others will add to) but that stuff is mostly what I consider the cream of the crop as it were since I started watching fansubbed anime. Should be enough to get you started. Bear in mind that some of them don't really have any mystery elements to them, I've mainly tried to go for a nice mix of stuff.

                  ----------

And back to more new season stuff...
They are my noble masters or Kimi Ga Aruji De Ore Ga ****suji De (I think I might just call it KimiAru from now on ) ep 1 - For some reason I had got it into my head that it'd be a more serious show, no idea why though. It seems to be the total opposite although there are one or two hints of some more serious stuff in that first episode. The quick way to describe it would be as Hayate No Gotoku with a lower budget and more dirty jokes involved. It does seem to parody quite a bit of stuff but not as much as the average HnG episode it would seem (there's even a reference to HnG at the end during the preview due to one of the VAs being the one that does Hinagiku). All I can say so far is I love it. Particularly funny moments for me include

The guy in that restaurant(?) that tries to come onto Ren by stripping half way to reveal his "surprise" shall we say. Then there was the maid who has a name very similar to Penis which I couldn't help laughing at. Not to mention the appearance of pedobear in that little sequence. Then there's the little comments they make about each other's personality traits like the sister reveal herself to be a bro-con to a passerby that hits on her. I was expecting her to say something like "I'm meeting my brother here". There was the whole hotblooded, manly butlers thing copied from HnG pretty much but still funny I thought, especially the mention of butlers having handbeams.

Worth checking out, although the jokes are cruder than Hayate and so far one character hasn't done it for me

The third sister who seems to be really forgettable

. The animation isn't particularly good either, music's sort of forgettable too at this stage but perhaps it'll grow on me. Still looks set to be a keeper for me and perhaps even reignited my interest in Hayate (which I should get back to after hearing about the latest episode).

Been having an anime evening, watched lucky star upto ep 11, although it dosen't seem to revolve around anything in particular, it's compulsive viewing & really funny in parts, love spotting culture references. Love the ending credits when they are at the karaoke bar

Naruto ep 42 wow what a battle Naruto vs orochimaru, naruto's powers are off the charts when he

transforms into the 4 tails kyubi

some of his attacks had my jaw on the floor, i seem to be in a minority but i love this series so much i even loved the filler stuff

So I bought the first volume of "Welcome to the N.H.K" and "Azumanga". I found the latter to be a bit too feminine and childish for my taste, and the only male (I can remember) has perverse fantasies about the school girls (of course), but I guess that's the norm for all guys anyway

"Welcome to the N.H.K" seems more "emo" as it deals with a guy considering suicide and somehow gets tangled up into making a hentai PC game. However, I find it somewhat mature without getting raunchy, in the lack of a better term. And the premise for volume 2 is promising : "Satou has set up the perfect plan to fool his mother into thinking he's a normal, responsible young man, but will it work? [...] And once that's settled, it's time to create the greatest porn game of all time!"

The bold word is the one to look up.

Tokyotosho is run BY fansubbers/scanlators (like me) who obey the unwritten rules of the community.
Older shows are easier to find on animesuki.

boxtorrents is full of torrents upped by people who don't care about the industry. Don't download series from there, go to the fansub groups site and get it from there. That way you are guaranteed consistant quality.

I downloaded School Rumble from Boxtorrents a long time ago to find that whoever put the torrent together had used subs by 2 different groups, one of which was shockingly bad quality.

                        I learnt my lesson.

Naruto ep42 - really good, just wish it had carried on abit longer to get sakura's full reaction. Truley was a fight between monsters than ninja

Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ep1 - Increased animation, even better art/style and even more insane stuff happening. This was more or less a reintroduction of all the girls focusing on normal nami, and the stuff with Kafuka insane evilness briefly surfacing through her postive talks always brings a smile to my face. New OP song ok, but not as catchy as "Twist" but the ED is ace in art and music.

Clannad ep13 - not much going on outside of getting kotomi background, seems there setting up an end for the kotomi arc in 2/3 eps.

Jeeez. What is with They are my Noble Masters? It's like Zapp says; It's HnG with smut. Mental. And yet I need more.

Edit: Persona looks quite interesting. Story-wise at least. Music is a bit hmm in places for me and I dunno if it was the raw or what but some of the voices were waaay off with the lip movements. If anyone else tries a different sub than ainex, let me know if the subs are coherent please. Couple of grammar errors left be wondering.
