Mokke is probably the best of the bunch, haven't seen it yet, but read the manga; nice horror-based stories, featuring many Japanese myths and spirits.
Myself Yourself is a romance anime, a boy returning to his old city after five or so years away and dealing with new and old friends; and love polygons, of course.
Kaiji is very similar to Akagi: yakuza, bets and lots of money. Same author, same pointy noses. Kinda slow, but interesting.
Haven't seen Night Wizard yet, will never see You're Under Arrest.

Watched Night Wizard ep. 1 yesterday. It appears we have a second contender for the "season's most dreadfully average urban fantasy show" award. Looks half-serious, with a few attempts at humor that fail miserably. It's blatantly adapted from a video game (probably an RPG from the looks of it) -- random fights, clichéd characters and level-up plot galore. Also, one episode in and there's already 3 lolis and a miko. Come on, can't they at least show some restraint?

In other news, Rental Magica still sucks. I knew I wasn't in for the most original show ever, but it keeps getting worse. Storytelling's as bad as ever ("oh, by the way, the entire episode is a flashback, but we'll let you figure that out from the yellow-ish tint"), and the plot... Words fail me.

"We used to be childhood friends but you lost your memory in the tragic monster-involving accident that made me decide to train hard and become powerful so that I could protect everyone"

: that's right, folks, it's only episode 2 and they've run out of ideas already.

Also, I've started downloading Hero Tales, after learning that the manga was made by FMA's author. I hope that this show at least will be good... :crosses fingers:

Dam and i downloaded to RM ep2 as well.... think i'll just dump it.

Minami-ke ep1 - really, really good. Pretty much as zap says it is, little bit of Ichigo Mashimoro and little bit Today in class 5-2. love the interaction between the 2 younger sisters as its like watching Miu and Chika going at it. Must watch for me and the animation is easily on par with Clannad.

EF ep1 - whats the plot for this then as it left me total clueless as to whats going on but also very interested as the mini stories and the characters in them are quite good so far. Also helps that Shaft are animating it, spotted there style straight away

Dragonaut ep1/2 - it ok up until they morphed it into horrible looking CGI dragons... i'm gonna give it another ep to see if it improves.

Genshiken S2 ep1 - quite enjoyable return, nothing outstanding in ep1(though did like Saki, trying to match up Ogiue/Sasahara) and im sure it parts it turned into part of 'the Office' style embrassement .

Myself; yourself ep2 - bit better, though the 'quality animation' is already showing and Aoi voice is still terrible. I think had flashbacks to Soul-Link at one point, but i think im gonna stick with this for now as going by the ending credits Aoi not even considered to be inthe Harem which is quite strange.

Hero Tales is not wriiten by the same person as FMA btw. She is connected somehow - I believe it is in the drawing of the manga. I have the first manga actually but not read it. Still indulging FMA love. I am sad to say that post FMA, I have not been able to get really into a single anime. Or anything on TV. FMA has spoilt my life!

Just watched Gundam 00 ep 1 (waiting for Shinsen's hardsubbed version of ep 2 to come out -- the Macintosh is an absolutely wonderful computer, but none of the otherwise excellent media players available for OSX can properly play multitrack softsubs), and so far it doesn't seem that bad. Loads of characters, and some of the main ones look overdone (seemingly emotionless main character, religious fanatic) or flat-out ridiculous (the dude with glasses and purple hair, my first reaction about whom was "hey, she looks fit"), but thankfully no disaster of Shinn proportions.

Definitely no Kira Yamato either -- a shame, really, as he, La Flaga and Ramius basically carried Seed on their shoulders. Man, those were awesome characters...

Anyway, a few of the usual Gundam stereotypes are already emerging, sometimes in multiples... I guess I'll need a couple more episodes to get a better picture. Plot-wise, I'm willing to bet that Setsuna and that dark-haired CO gal (possibly even the rest of the spaceship's crew) will realize, roughly halfway through the show, that Celestial Being is actually an attempt to create a worldwide totalitarian state (I mean, monocle-gramps is so obviously evil I was surprised he didn't manage to sneak a "for the sake of our pure, blue world" somewhere in his speech). Following that, they'll join the Lacus-lookalike brunette in fighting it and half the cast. Probably losing a couple MSs in the process (look out for the "left for dead" cliffhanger at mid-season break). And there will be much crying ('cause it wouldn't be modern Gundam if the main characters didn't go emo every once in a while).

Fights-wise, I sure hope they'll change soon. Because even though they look lovely (high-budget animation and CGI -- then again, it's an episode 1), there's about as much suspense in them as there is in a typical Initial D race. Which is another way of saying there isn't any, ever. The balance of power is ridiculous, and large-scale massacres aren't going to keep me entertained for long. Especially when Gundams look rubbish (has there ever been a show where the hero *didn't* have a mobile suit whose contrails look like angel wings?). The rest of the mecha design, however, is excellent (with the opening scene being a nod to MGS4).

Yeah, can you tell I don't think it's going to be great. Series that start with lots of pretense and pomp tend to do that to me. I'll keep watching though, at least for a while, to see how it develops and how many of my predictions are accurate.

Ep2 of Gundam 00 just drove home how awfull all the main pilots are for me... anyway your predication of CB being bad will be bang on the money.

              on to something better

Seirei no Moribito ep26 end - Finished as well as it started, ep25 saw the last of the action regarding releasing the spirit, so ep26 was the tie lose ends up ep. Did good job of bringing closure on the Balsa/Chagum relationship, but i knew we would get a proper ending as there plenty more novals from the universe to be animated yet and hopefully inthe futre will be.

Hero Tales ep1 - it's ok, reminded me abit of Shura no Toki until they started release Ki/Spirit DBZ style , going to stick with it for now as the fights seem interesting and theres not in the way of fighting anime atm.

Clanned ep3 - More good stuff, mainly a Nagisa/Tomoya ep with sprinkes of the other girls to provide extra comedy and a couple of new secondary characters are introduced. Youhei gets ass kicked again in another amusing outburst at Tomoyo

Naruto ep31 - Nicely animated, new intro pretty good(certainly better than the new bleach one). Looks like we might get a filler next episode as the preview is nothing i remember from the manga

Dragonaut ep. 3 -- $deity, does this show have schizophrenic influences. Over the course of a single episode, there are scenes that seem lifted straight from (in no particular order) Gundam Seed, Macross (this one's blatant -- if, like me, you love missiles, there's one sequence that'll have you grinning from ear to ear), kaiju eiga films, oldschool super sentai shows (gamer fans, be on the lookout for Howling Star's transformation -- there's a nod to a certain popular Capcom character) and Pokémon (some of the dragon designs, esp. Toa, give out a *huge* poké-vibe).

I still have no idea what to make of this show, really. The fight sequences look good for the most part, but the dragon CGI models don't meld well with the rest of the graphics (there's no effort whatsoever to hide their obviously computer-generated nature, some cel-shading à la Initial D would have been appreciated). The premise (human riding dragons) has been known to be a Cool Thing since the dawn of time, but it's made to look rather silly (and illogical -- if dragons have human-level intellect and obey orders, why is there a need for dragonauts in the first place?) in that episode. The plot looks like it's gonna develop in interesting ways, but my yaoi alert radar keeps lighting up (some parts made me think of Aquarion >.< ). The show's dead serious, yet female character designs are among the most ridiculous I've ever seen (they look like rejects from ICE ).

                  That's... Puzzling, really.

Oh, and singing "la la la" tunelessly is only eerie, dreamlike and beautiful if you have a crystal-clear voice (good example: Within Temptation singer Sharon Den Adel). Toa's seiyuu doesn't.

In other news, a theater in my town was playing "Tekkon Kinkreet" and "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" (both in Japanese with subtitles, of course) as a double feature yesterday. So of course, I had to go. Both these films are brilliant. Watch them as soon as possible.

Dropped Night Wizard halfway through episode 2. Boring plot, boring characters, boring humor... Boring show. Don't bother.

Still to many new shows i not watched or seen past ep1

Myself; Yourself ep3 - well i didn't expect that to be his secret,

although its not mentioned at all the episode it gave heavy handed hints he's tried to suicide via wrist sliting. Always thought something was up but not that, as by the way his mum kept calling him every day to check up on him.. i thought it was bullying or family member problems. Anyway looks like it could provide some good drama when it friends/women find out.

Genshiken s2 ep2 - Bit dull to start with, with them arguing over the doujin, good better once it involved Ogiue/saki/Sasahara combo again. Still lacking though, i think its down to a lack of screen time for Madarame.

Bokurano ep22-24 end - Well, from all my dissing about half way through with it changing the manga story to make children have 'better' endings. It turned out pretty good in the end with the final 30 hr deathmatch, liked how it wrapped the littles things i had forgotten about (like certain families not knowing what happed to there loved ones) but certainly neglected further mention of the Universe that setup this whole fight up... i was hoping for some payback or at least a swift death for the man in the grey suit acting like a nobhead.

HunterXHunter manga 261-263, although most have forgotten about it now. oh my... i think its close to year since the 260 was released, not much going on in 261/2 just more of the technical/detective stuff the manga direction been going in since greed island, but we get our 1st bombshell in a while with 2 certain uber people jumping in to what i assume will be vs the King.

                      edit---
Night Wizard ep2/3 - didn't think it was awful, certainly not rentica bad , and the collect the dragon ball plot isn't that stupid specially compaired dragonauts or sky girls. Its a decent fluff show with some funny bits for me (mainly the main guys reaction to being put back year, his fights with the boss girl and his 'falling man' rep being upheld in ep3) and decent fights (the broom gun girls pretty cool)

Anyone else had a look at Moyashimon? Basically about a student at an agricultural university that has the ability to see bacteria/microbes. (They look cheerful and spritely really). Quite odd but quite entertaining really.

Clannad ep 3 and Genshiken ep 2 were both good as well. ^^

i thought that genshiken 2's gundam style opening would take some beating, but moyashimon's is amazing. looks to be quite an interesting series...but i cant imagine whats going to happen.

ghost hound 1 is out too by shinsen, so i'll be checking that one out.

For anyone watching Nyoro~n's version of gundam 00 you may want to change to another group. I had no idea they were this bad, but someone even showed me an example of a line where Babelfish gave a more accurate translation than Nyoro~n.

Thanks for the heads up, I had been using Nyoro~n's versions but I wont any longer.

I'm getting the Conclave/Mendoi 1280x720 HD subs. Anyway ep3 was alot better, still dislike all the pilots although the Sniper guy improved himself. Its got me routing for the enemy aces specially when it involves the emo twat in the melee gundam, laughed my head off during the Chinese general vs Emo twat fight when he grabbed his head, just proves he's a crappy pilot in a machine that way outpowers anything the aces have, not even Shin as bad as this guy. (One day i will remember their names)
