Really? So far from what I have seen this guy (if I'm gettng the right one, the one in the Exia gundam?) has got nothing on Shinn for me. He hasn't said much but in terms of character likability he far surpasses Shinn for me who was just way too arrogant and hypocritical for his own good. I do agree about the aces though. I've been willing one of them to beat the Gundams. Gotta happen sometime soon I reckon. Seems that Tamaki(Ouran) lookalike is the most likely to me make the breakthrough.

Got through the first three episodes and it's been alright so far. There's not really a particularly stand out character, scene or anything of a standout nature to be honest, other than the animation which is nice but will probably be recycled soon. The OP has grown on me as most of L'Arc en Ciel's anime OPs tend to. Pretty slow burner so far. But I've seen nothing that'll turn me off like particularly annoying characters, lack of interesting stuff happening. Having said that they've had very little time to annoy me. Pick of the Gundams for me so far in terms of looks is the Exia. As for subs I might be biased but I have also gone for the Conclave-Mendoi ones.

Not been able to watch much due to some various internet problems but I had to watch Clannad. Loved the bit with the straw and it's quite good to see how they're fleshing out the characters although I was a bit shocked when

none of the main leads get involved with the drama club. Would have thought it would have been a logical conclusion but they must be trying to avoid that. Also, bit wierd how there might be a conclusion to the ghost story this quickly. I thought they would have milked that for ages.

Love the series already though. I'm such a sucker for the art style and the key storylines. Also, the opening and ending are out!

aye Clannad has been alot better than i expected, better than Kanon even. Ep4 was a treat, loved the on going battles of Tomoyo and Youhei

couldn't stop laughing when he walked her into men's bathroom

. The scene between Ryou and Nagisa with Youhei/Tomoya looking on after purpusly making the misunderstanding

Caught up with eps 2 and 3 of Gundam 00, and while some of them look ridiculous (not to mention the names -- who in their right mind would ever want to call their child "Lockon" or "Allelujah"!?), so far none of the main cast is as annoying as Shinn. Setsuna looks like he could get there pretty fast, though. He's got a regular emo-fest inside his head, this one.

And it's a bloody shame how poor the Gundam designs are (come on, guys, making the Michelin man into a mobile suit? What were you thinking?). It's even more obvious when the bots they're facing really are well-done -- hulking, angular-shaped, armored blocks of metal that do look like they were built to ****ing make war. Tanks aren't sports cars for a reason.

Dragonaut ep. 4, also... Seems they realized how crap a singer Toa's VA is: her "la-la-la" song is now heavily post-processed (Activate reverb! Flanger connected! Autotuner up! Chorus is go! Let's go untalented idol force!!). And I'm having flashbacks of Mazinger Z. The more this show goes on, the less sense it makes.

Unless something catches my attention (and by that I don't mean the 230 Z boobs all the girls seem to be sporting), I'll be dropping this soon. Can't be bothered. By the way, if you couldn't find GSD's Shinn in Gundam 00, don't look further: that's because he's landed in Dragonaut and now calls himself Kazuki. That ball of teen angst looks remarkably punch-able.

Genshiken 3 - Do not want! sums up this episode well. Great stuff though. I loved how most of them went throughout the day with a semi-permanent blush on them.

Sketchbook 02-04 - What a lovely series. There's some great comedy sketches (lobster janken was great) but most of all it's the slow paced narration done by Sora that I like.

Moyashimon 02 - Needs more microbe action but I guess they're setting it up. Still a great set-up though.

I can only echo the thoughts on Clannad so far. Lots of little funny bits in the episode.

Totally wrong on the Ghost thing then.

In addition to the stuff that's already been mentioned, I also let out a chuckle at the chain combo which I didn't think anyone else mentioned yet. Edit: and there was the RPG bit with no option to let him join your party

I'm liking Clannad too, its looking like i'll watch this all the way through. Other than that i've been enjoying Genshiken alot and i quite like Bamboo Blade for some brain dead entertainment, plus it looks like it might get more interesting in episode 4. I have tried the first episode of Moyashimon, which i also liked so i'll watch a few more. I can't be bothered with Gundam 00, it looks too much like Wing for my liking.

GenshikenS2 ep3 was pretty funny, i honestly though the surprise was going to be Saki doing cosplay but what we got instead was funnier and there blushing faces as there disguestingly turned on by it was

now for the 2nd best show of the season (after Clannad)

Minami-ke ep2-4, keeps getting better and better, the more side characters they introduce to flesh out the comedy the better the 3 daughters get, the fights between the to youngen's is always funny and ep4 introducing that sweating psycho was proper lol!(as well as the videogame montage including the very funny resi evil clone, plus i certainly remember that 'loser goes to the shop' i was younger between family )

Dennou Coil ep 14-18, wow, wow, wow the story is really getting going now with it finally letting out a few secrets its almost stepped into the thriller genre and ep18 cliffhanger is a OMFG its coming for you moment!!! "also im begining to think Yasako was one of the original kids that crossed over to the other side and Isako's brother helped her back, which is why she can hear obsolete space"

Couple of new shows I missed:
Mokke 01 - Semi-interesting. Younger sister gets possed easily and older sister has power to see the things possessing her. Could be quite good if they manage to avoid a generic weekly format.

Ghost Hound 01 - From the Bloke who did Lain I think. First off, this looks stunning in HD. Really incredible stuff. Storywise it's...puzzling. But interesting. Not quite the mind trip of Lain but enough random non-explanation to make you go "huh". I'll stick with it though.

I really need some help here. My laptop has gone a bit crazy and has, for unknown reasons, deleted the media portion of its' hard drive

Don't ask me how, I'm no PC genius. I switched it on in my hotel room after work (working away from home 5 days a week) and after Vista booted with no problems I have gone to watch a bit of anime before I go down for dinner to find that there's nothing there!! Not the folder called "video" where everything was. Not a sausage. I have lost it all.

My main problem is that I only get access to my broadband on Friday night - Sunday afternoon (the time when I am back in my flat) and I am fully prepared to sit there and download as much as humanly (and bandwidthly) possible in this time. Trouble is, some of it was off of torrents and I don't know how active they are going to be.

I was wondering if there was ANY chance that anybody could help me out by sending me any of the stuff detailed below on data DVD? I am fully prepared to pay for the cost of the discs and postage (or arrange some sort of "you send me 1 disc with anime on it, I'll send you 2 blank discs and some chocolate in return" type of schemes) but I desperately want to get the stuff I had back as soon as possible (ideally before I go back up to work on Sunday night but that might be pushing it).

I have Sky Girls (everything available so far) and Lovely Complex on back up DVDs (so the missus could watch them on the TV) but I thought Vista was supposed to be this super stable OS. Besides I've only had the laptop about a month so surely it can't be FUBAR already

Anyway, I had, if I remember rightly, the following:

                      Baccano 1 - 8
                      Myself, Yourself 1 - 4
                      School Days - Complete
                      Hitohira - Complete
                      Clannad 1 - 3
                      Umishou 1 - 12
                      Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun 1 - 4
                      Doujin Works - Complete
                      Zombie Loan - Complete

I am so angry right now that it has taken me a good 25 minutes to type this post. I fully intend to break something once I've posted this (nothing too big, maybe a pencil to try and let of some steam).

If anyone can help me out I would be eternally grateful and will happily reciprocate the kindness if the need should ever arise. Plus chocolate

Many thanks to everyone who reads this and managed not to laugh at my misfortune.

                      Back-ups a-go-go from now on!!!

If I could get my dvd drive to work so that it can write discs that will be read on other pcs I could have probably have helped out with some of that. I'll give it another go and see if I can fix it tomorrow. Not sure how successful I'll be though.

                        Anyways;
Minami ke 2-4: Amazing stuff. Really enjoying this. The video-game in ep 4 being a particular highlight.

ef - a tale of memories 2-4; I hate the purple haired girl that's after the manga artist. She's such a contradictory selfish bitch. The other storyline I'd enjoy much much much more if it didn't have Raki's voice actor for it. Still watching it though.

Edit: Bokurano 14-24. What a good series. Like Tobal I was alittle worried about how they'd manage after changing the storyline from the manga but it certainly turned out a lot more...bearable. Makes you wonder how depressing some of the original scenarios were. Regardless, great series.

Clannad 5: Amazing scenes. I almost bust a rib from laughing at the Fuko/Okazaki scene. Loving this show so much.

Edit 2: Overdrive 18: What an episode. Makes up for a lot of it so far.

Woo!! I'm getting there. Got in at 10pm yesterday and stayed up until 3am. Woke up at 8am and have been sat here re-downloading everything I lost. Pretty much there now, only need Baccano and Doujin Works and I'll have everything I remember having back on my hard drive.

Never fear, I will be making back ups this time

Clannad ep 5 - surprising how strong I'm finding the comedy element to be in this. Okazaki surely surpasses Yuuichi for jokes. Like the bit Mr. Jeff mentioned. I particularly liked the way he'd started laughing before anything had been said. Also I think a large part of why I'm enjoying it is because they all seem to interact with each other whereas in Kanon the scenes would be with Yuuichi and one of the girls and they'd very rarely all meet up.

ef- been pretty enjoyable too. Can't say I've disliked what I've seen of any of the characters so far, although I've yet to see episode 4 so that may change.

Should really get caught up with Overdrive, which I was loving whenever I watched. I'm mainly in it for the antics of Shinozaki but also because I've become a bit of a ShinozakiXFukuzawa shipper. Okay a lot of a shipper. The sports side of it isn't too bad either I suppose. Shinozaki is more than likable enough to be able to pull off the underdog role (IMO etc..)

Keep on falling behind on some of the shows

Clannad ep5 had me in tears at the Xchange rib

Overdrive - up to ep20 myself still in the same race but man, does Shinozaki really put on a show, just when you think he's done for he bounces back. So far it all be highs - lows, highs - lows with the team in disarray after the 2nd mountain climb and there still 1/2 a races to go with Shino looking buried...

Finally caught up with this today. Didn't really mind Toa's song really (mainly since I have a thing for the va ) but it's miles better than the abomination of the ending song. I still chuckle at the final long of the song being "Let me shower you with my adoration". On the whole, the storyline's just remarkabley nonsensical. And yet I'm still watching. Maybe this is the series of the season to just sit and watch with no brain activity required.

Ghost Hound ep2: Another interesting episode exploring more of the main lead's past. Bit less confusing than the first ep now but it still looks stunning.

Baccano 9-11: 2 episodes left, I have only the vaguest idea of how it all wraps up but it's still amazingly enjoyable. They really don't spare with the gory scenes. Isaac and Miria provide superb comic relief for it though.

Moyashimon 3: All the fun of science lessons but featuring funky little microbes. I love how they all have their own individual characteristics.

Edit: The preview at the end of Myself;Yourself 4 was pretty lol-worthy.
