Oh I loved it personally. I think Gouda is a parody of the typical mecha anime hero, most notably the guy from G-Gundam. From what I've been told, its both for fans of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and a promotional piece for the other Age h-game, MuvLuv, since it features characters from both.

I kinda like Lacus, story-wise. From what I've seen of her (i.e. Seed eps 1 -> 15, Destiny), she has a purpose in the story (beyond Seed's, er, love pentagon), and her kind, naive personality is a nice counterpoint to the boys' (justified) angst and sadness. She's a good singer, too. ^^

That being said, she's living proof that Coordinators are not all "faster, stronger, better", but can also be extremely naive and dumb as bricks. She's also a bit too out of place, and her cluelessness and obliviousness are a tad annoying (she is indeed a lot like what writers call a typical Mary-Sue). The one thing about her that really gets on my nerves, however, is that bloody pink Tamagochi she carries around with her, Haro. I know that it does too serve a purpose in the story (give us a point of reference concerning the Coordinators' abilities) (unlike, say, all the small animals Naruto with the exception of Akamaru), but I have a nearly-allergic reaction to pseudo-kawaii, forcibly-inserted "pets", especially in serious anime.

Anyway, the song sequence in Destiny ep. 7 was indeed quality (what can I say, I'm a sucker for Yuki Kajiura --

I didn't expect them to allow the damage to be that important, though!

). However, there is one thing that I have trouble understanding ATM:

Okay, so that Lord Jibril dude is from Blue Cosmos, right? If he hates Coordinators and wants them all to die, how the hell can he have a Coordinator son (he's *very* obviously Sting's father)?

In response to your second question: Sting isn't a coordinator, he's a natural thats received some sort of biological enhancement which we saw in episode 3 or 4 (him, Auel, and Stella are seen in incubation tanks).

As for the Haros, they're borrowed from Gundam 0079 where they're much larger, albeit less annoying.

Yep, just to add to Taka when you get far enough into Seed you'll come across earth's 1st gen of druggie pilots which are ahella-lot more unstable than the new ones

Ah, okay. I thought they were Coordinators with further "enhancements" (well, if you call brainwashing, split personalities and Pavlovian reflexes enhancements, anyway). Thanks for the clarification.

I finally got around to watching the GunBuster dvd i had for close to 2 months, brilliant stuff, the blend of science fiction, mecha, decent characters and fighting is done so well. I can't say there much out that beats it and i can only hope Gunbuster2 lives up to it.

Also what do you lot think of the choice to have the last episode in black and white? i found quite pointless arty act that at first had me wondering whats happened to my pc , i'm not a fan of it thats for sure but it didn't get inthe way of the good end episode.

Gundam Seed D ep8, no action this time round but,

a nice ominous meetin between shinn and Kira and the 2 ships captains(did she use her real name, when she spoke to ZAFT's lady captain?), and Arthun getting engaged to Kagilli, looks like the next ep is all out war again.

Looks like im going to have to keep alist of names and spelling's this time round

I'm a huge fan of GunBuster, cracking story and some OTT mecha action. I did actually question whether my TV and DVD player were playing up when I first watched it, though the subtitles appearing in yellow quickly answered my question. I did like the quick flash of colour towards the end when Noriko and Amano head back to Earth.

As for GunBuster 2, I wasn't as impressed. I'm an old skool Gainax fan and all of their recent offerings have left a bitter taste in my mouth so to speak. FLCL, Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade etc - all look superb but they all seem to go out of their way to be ludicrously silly. Whatever happened to the harder stuff they used to do like GunBuster and Evangelion?

As for Gundam SEED Destiny 8, Captain Ramius didn't use her real name, more a pseudonym since she and her fellow crew mates are essentially wanted war criminals seeking asylum in ORB. With them wanting to ally with the Earth Alliance again, I can see them all skipping town fairly quickly.

I enjoyed Gunbuster2 1st episode i liked the characters and Gaint Robot Vs Space monster action, i know the fans of the original wanted continuation of what happened or something similar but that would mean reteading steps the 1st gunbuster took with better animation, which would seem pointless, plus the story went as far as it could just like its spiritual sister Macross series, theres no need to continue it on. Plus its not 'really' gunbuster2 its the fans and internet that have done that, its just 'Aim for the top2 - Die Buster'

also i love gainax's insane offering in FLCL and Abenobashi

But wasn't the original GunBuster known as "Aim For The Top" in Japan? Surely "Aim For The Top 2" would therefore be GunBuster 2. I realise the two don't need to be linked to share the same name but from the first episode, it does seem like a retelling of GunBuster, give or take a few elements. I'd have much rather had a real sequel furthering the story (and I'm sure it could have been done), rather than the same story told in a more comical nature.

I wouldn't say its more of the same with comical twist, it seemed the only link was the buster machine itself fighting an giant alien, apart from that its all pretty much on its own.

I just finished watching the new Appleseed movie, not mind blowing, nore was the CGI up to squares level but it an enjoyable watch if not looking for anything deep. Few Armored Suit fights and matrix slowmoe, but seemed it was missing plenty from the film story wise (specially the history between Knute and Briareos) which effected the original movie as well, but i knew you pretty much have to have knowledge of the manga to know whats going on, shame never read it, as most info onthe net about appleseed point to the manga being pretty good.

One little surprise inthe intro music when they get to the city. basement jazz - Good Luck, that bbc olympics theme
