Gundam Seed Destiny 14 is out.

Archangel is back! YEAH! I had that huuuuuuge grin across my face during the entire launch sequence

New OP and ED as well. I'm not too keen about the OP (it's IMO as average as Ignited was), however the ED is brilliant. Yuki Kajiura does it again, folks!

from what I remember, OAV1 is completely seperate from the series (you basically have to have watched about 5 episodes to know all the characters involved, if not less).

As for OAV2, not too sure, but I'm downloading it right now, so i can get back to you on that one.

Can someone possibly briefly explain the Ghost in the Shell DVDs out now. I've got the film, but I've seen some other things popping up and don't know what to make of them... good or ****e spin offs?

                Whats an OAV?

I'm upto date on naruto, so is it worth seeing them?

The DVDs are probably from the TV series, Stand Alone Complex.
I watched the 10 or so first episodes when they were being fansubbed. Animation quality is excellent and the music is by Yoko Kanno, but story- and action-wise I found it average.

If you want to buy some DVDs, get the Read or Die TV series, which is a Best Thing Ever(TM).

The main story doesn't start till about ep 13, until then its character development, history setting and with some one off stories and some eps that breifly relate to the 'laughing man case' which is the main story. As for action, Gits has always been infrequant with it, when it does come its brilliant and there's alot more of it later on when they get deeper in the the 'laughing man case'.

Finished watching Fafner, omg.. it kept up the high tepo finish started back in ep 22.

I was so happy to see those 4 pilots return, specially Tomi and Canon who i thought brought the farm back in ep 23, i was totally shocked to see that guy die in such a way, what a total bastard that festum grabbing his escape pod ft: , dam shame for for mamiru dying as well .

from what I have read, OAV = Original Animated Video. Basically, episodes that are completely separated from the television/anime series. Most of the time they're prequals, but in Naruto's case they're just separated from the main story.

They're not essential, and from when I saw naruto's OAV1, it's not particularly worth seeing, either. Might be a different case with OAV2, though. pity the download atm is a fooking sloth >_<

A more accurate description would be that they're direct to video (or DVD nowdays) releases. As you've said, they can take the shape of prequels, side stories, or even sequels which do further the story. And best of all, they're usually of a much higher budget than the TV series they usually spawn from so they tend to look great!

Unfortunately both naruto OAV's are pretty poor, the second one being the poorer of the two, it almost feels like its been done by a completely different team than the main story :/ Give the first one a watch, it was ok from what I remember, but the second one isnt worth a download.

Well there not 'real' OVA's being they were made for Jump festa Convention in 02 and 04, hastly put together for the fans to be screened at the event.

Watched some more Uta-kata ep8-9, I'm glad i stuck with it it not has an almost narutaru vibe without the killer pokemon. I recommend watching it now, its starts of innocent almost magic girl style but and more times she's used her powers to 'fix' things its always been a quick fix that could have been sorted another way should she have taken the hard route of 'hard love' by grasses up or not lying.

But now the problems are getting bigger (love cheats, jealously, broken dreams, suicides bids, and now rape) and dealing with means more djinn power being used and its slowly killing her will/control over what happens, to point of plain revenge tactics hurting lots of people, while the girl that gave her the powers can only watch on helpless as it consumes her, its a brilliant setup.

I rather like the new Op for GSD, much better than the previous one. I was rather disapointed by the Yuki Kajiura's ED though. It wasn't up to her usual standards and I love most of her stuff.

Slightly disapointed by Fafner's ending as well, not much was explained at all. Heck I don't even know what the final outcome of the war was.
