Jojo's been fantastic, it'll be shame when it finishes next episode(26), such a fun show to watch. For me winter seaons all about Jojo, Chihayafuru s2, Ixion Saga and Tamako Market.

Young animator Project kicks off for 2013 with another 4 OVA's starting with Little Witch Academia, I really enjoyed this as a kind of Harry Potter school with anime witches thing(no choosen fate **** though, which is good), definitely worth making 25 mins of you time free to watch it and i hope it get expanded on to a tv series.

AKB0048 end(ep26) - the stupidness ends how it started, completely bat**** insane dancing numbers with what amounts to dancing jedi's vs no-fun mecha in some sort of twisted macross parody, and reveal of what happens to the centre novas is pretty freaking dark,

to end your young life to do singing/dancing for ABK, for all eternity while providing the subconscious power of fun and entertainment for the universe and occasionally appear has ghost jedi or kira is a bad end if you ask me.

i look forward to maddness of season 3.

Boku Ha Tomodachi Ga Sukunai NEXT end (ep12) - bahhh that ending arc was really good up until then, with more laughs than s1, more of the other girls besides Sena/yoroza, in which Rika stole the show and Yusa/Kate put in a show showing to.

I just wanted them to be done with pretending they didn't have friends attitude they all had(which at least Rika sorted out) and the MC not wanting to end his harem for fear of losing the only friends he's ever made which made him look like a total pussy. Be while before we seen how this conludes as they've caught up to the light novels.

Ixion Saga end ep25 - such good show, kind of like Jojo with a knowing attitude to how hero stories unfold in anime and playing on them, and that ending is fantastic. Just shame it'll never get a 2nd season and the game its based on has nothing to do with this adaption.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha end(ep12) - a decent show that failed to live up to its shared likeness with Wolf'n'Spice, mainly down to cramming so much in to 12eps with every plot element and character building feeling to short for the story they we're trying to tell. worth a watch if you like the tone of WnS as theres not much like it nowerdays.

Kotoura-san end(ep12) - the ending arc was pretty stupid with the woman beater stuff, im sure they could have had drama from something else but in the end it gave them the excuses to advance the characters relationships and repair those that where broken, and as the characters are all pretty likeble and the relationships actually went somewhere instead of ending on status quo i ended up enjoying it alot more than i thought.

OreShura end (ep13) - average harem show in the end, all the mystery from the "who's the winner" vanished half way through and it pretty much boiled down to do you like the comedy or not. Which for the most part for me was yes, the use of his former life as chuuni was cringingly funny as where some of the girls attempts to win, still as normal for unfinished light novel adaptions the ending was inthe last minute of the show changed back to the status quo route and with no chance of 2nd season it means you'll have to look up the light novel when it conludes to get the real ending.. so if you've not started watching its not really worth your time.

Girls und Panzers end(ep11/12), - 3 months of waiting for the last 2 episodes, pretty much all tank v tank all the way and the solutions to winning 7 vs 20 was just about believeable and the tank difting a sight to behold. Worth watching if you like high school slice of life with some tank tournament thrown in.

Minami-ke Tadaima end(ep13) - i think i said previous it mostly felt like going over old ground with this being the 4th series, and a retcon wiping out season2/3 from history. Still it was alright for what it was but as expected when i went into it, no character development which still disappoints me.. lets hope when they get enough material for season5(retcon season3) in 4/5 years time, life will have moved on and not become the japanese simpsons.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo end(ep24) - they just about saved the MC from being a total tit as it was nice to see MC whining and getting pissed off about his progress with his dreams(for work) but they totally miss the chance to do anything about million occassions he had with the 2 main girls.

they even chickened out sealing the MC couple route right at the end instead of going for some anime only end even though the light novels are finished from that i understand.

Maybe they hope to get 12eps out of it with the 3 new characters showing up.

Tamako Market end (ep12) felt i could have watched another 12eps of this, as normal for a short KA show the character relationships have bearly advanced since ep1 outside of the Bird and Tamako and with it being a flop with the japs we're unlikely to ever see anymore of it.

still way behind on psycho-pass, samsai@ and Zetsuen no Tempest, with last episodes for Da Capo3, Love Live, jojo, vivi op to go.

Jojo, ends ep 26 - having never read the manga(a sin, i know) everything is fresh to me so i did not see that ending coming... absolutely fantastic and its going to be at least half a year before we see part 3 animated

Love Live, ends ep13 - what this show taught me was friendship beats everything,

including your best friends dream job. The drama crap at the end would have best been served by letting Grey-hair go and the best carrying on.

It was a decent Idolmaster take, at least superior dancing CGI/2d mashups and the animation was well above average for a show like this. (but like all those shows, including AKB0048 i think idol j-pop is blandest music going), i would save watch only if you really liked idolmaster.

Da Capo 3, ends ep13 - seems to follow the 2 parts routine of Da Capo 1 and 2, as it seems we'll have a completely different setting for Da Capo 3-II as some harry potter rubbish i don't understand the reasons to not wrap up the current story like previous Da Capo's have unless they intend to hope between Harry potter land and present day. I felt fairly dissatisfied with the story not having much meaning to it, and the few cameo's from DC2 show they failed to link the 1/2/3 together , maybe that change when part2's out.. i would have avoided this if it wasn't for liking DC1 and most of DC2.

Vivi Op, ends ep12 - all i can say is it was done better by alot of other shows, about the only surprise was the origin of the badguys which i didn't see coming. The fightd boiled down to just using there "win button" combo supers while the tradegy of the normal people getting murdered like ants it fully ignored for ass shots and costume transformations, it was something that urked me all the way through... Black should have been beheaded for the countless deaths she caused. As least the animation was nice.

      ----

New Anime, the spring collection is here and looking really strong. So far we have,

Shingeki no Kyojin - this is something special if they continue to animate all the episodse like this, the art and CGI capture the manga really well and the music is mencing. Set in the future where humans have walled themselves against this giant mostly featureless humans that kill/eat humans, and humans fight back by using grappling hooks and swords in a spiderman like way, technology seems to have all but reverted to medieval times. Those not aware of the manga it has a very gantz vibe where no-one is safe, which creates some great tension. Keeper for sure.

Oreimo s2 - the other big show which more of the same, Kirino is still a bitch, Kuroneko should win. Probably not a good idea to watch this without having seen season1 but its mainly Harem Romance/comedy about MC's sister being popular go getter but is secretly super-fan of nerd crap and porn games featuring little sisters, he get roped in to her hobbies and oftened takes the flak for it. Keeper for me.

Aku no Hana - causing trouble where ever it is discussed, seems to be a high school slice of life but with some menacing undertones from the get go, i've heard the manga described as "punpun like" which is a pretty messed up manga so im expecting some crazy and nasty things to happen. What most stands out is the art/animation... best is described as horrendous rotoscope, there is very little shadowing on the characters so it makes every one extra ugly and fat and far oto few frames of animation.. i don't know it this is some kind of cost cutting measure or some artistic statement as if they story is suppose to get messed up then the art style strangely fits right with it. Definitely worth watching the first episode to see what its all about... but i think im going to stick with it (the op is complete ****, the background music feels like i i've heard it somewhere before but it fits really well, and the Ed is a bonkers glados like thing).

Devil Survivor 2 - there is not animated 1 and i've never played the games so this is all new to me, but as far as the anime goes this feels and looks like a better persona4, which bored me to death half way through with terrible art/animation and fights to drop it. This seem alot better from the go, kind of like gantz's set up where its death or play this game and you get to live.. but the game this time is popping devils from phone apps into real life to fight.

Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge - seems very similar to Cubex3 from last year, but the murderous items are equipment instead of people morphing into them. Apart from the super creepy hair touching and smelling that takes up most of the episode, it looks like it turn into a fairly gorey battle show.

Date A Live - Boy has to date Spirits to stop them rampaging and killing.. seems almost like Sora no Otoshimono mixed with the world only god knows. Seems alright as far as animation/art goes but i'll hve see where they take it in episode to if the spirits are suppose to hang around or we get a new spirit girl for him to date each week.

Red Data Girl - not alot given away in the first episode but from what i cane gather the Main girl has a spiritual power that can interact with electronics. She'ss set up to be bird in cage scenario, doesn't know much about her power and want to change, i don't know what direction the show will take as it seems she's been given a very reluctant fighting monk... so it might turn it something similar to InuXBoku from last year, mostly slice-of-life with some dram/fighting thrown in.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru - of the new high school shows this is the one i enjoyed the most, pessimistic MC with some wit about him is forced to join a Medeka Box like club run by what is pretty much Medeka with Senjougahara like personality. Good stuff.

Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san - mostly forgettable comedy about boy fishing while getting pestered by a mermaid.

Photokano - MC high schooler gets a camera, starts getting interested in photography, unwittingly seems to get into conversions with a harem of girls and ends up with photography club. Enjoyable and well animated, standard harem show.

Majestic Prince - mecha show from the Gundam Seed sameface factory comes a deviation with slightly wider faces. It started with alot of promise, a united space army fighting some alien hoard but getting railed on, que lots of space fighting with plenty of deaths, was thinking is this to be the next Fafnir or Heroic Age... then it focuses on Rabbit Team, abunch unlikeable of mecha trainnee cadets which all seem like austim babies with serious problems acting like adults or working like a team and are show to be the worst in the school, get picked to fly the latest in expsenive looking super mechs they have never piloted to provide cover for the retreating army. I just can't not get other the amount of brainless decisions that led to happening outside of them being used to scarifice themselves while the army retreated but there wasn't a single hint of that happening, instead they go and win the battle. The only salvageable parts where the mecha designs, i don't think i can stomach a 2nd episode.

Suisei no Gargantia - the other mecha show. Similar setup but without the retards, seems to be a very Starship Trooper society fighting off a superior alien force... fight for the cause and you can be citizen. Lot of people dying in the battle where shown in what seems to be latest in failed attempts to kill the aliens, on the retreat the MC ends up lost and the show seems to turn in to Eureka 7.. pretty interesting, would like to see where they take this advanced mecha in a primitive world plot device.

Picked up Oreimo S2 and Red Data Girl thus far. Kirino is still great, but I dunno how the series will pan out. Red Data Girl just interested me because electronicslol. No idea how it will go either. The other show I want to watch is The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat, no sure when that airs though.

Not seen anything about Stony Cat, whats it about/jap name.

          Couple more shows

Karneval - leading the wave of shoujo shows... but the kind i pretty much dislike when one of the MC's is spineless sappy shota like [K'] from earlier this year. It kinder shares tones with D.grayman's goverment agency vs monsters, the animation was pretty damn good but i don't think can stomach putting up with the 2nd lead... hoping they tone it down for the 2nd episode.

Arata Kangatari - looks and smells like a battle manga with shoujo designs, the MC seems like spinnless wiener so its going to have work to keep my attention as the art's not great, nore is the animation. Main plot point is wienner MC swaps places with some prince from another world, seems they'll have 2 stories running at the same time.

AIURA - 3 min show, high school girls doing moe things.. very well animated

Yuyushiki - pretty much YuriYuru with club room being a computer room and half the conversation starters being them dicking around onthe internet. Comedy was hit and miss for me but it seemed alright, certainly helped by the animation budget.

Haiyore! Nyarlko W- more of the same from this ecchi harem comedy, more parody gags from shows that just finished airing last season.

Zettai Bouei Leviatan - 3 girls form a bug/demon killing party, set against some magical elf world, was fairly boring.

Mushibugyo - the other battle manga, edo japan+hokey samurai fighting gaint bugs. Had a surprising amount of blood in it but everything else was run of the mill shounen battle drama.

Already have a couple standout shows after 1 episode: Aku no Hana, Shingeki no Kyojin, Hataraku Maou-sama! Hana has some crazy rotoscoped animation which is getting alot of stick but it's better than having another K-On copy/paste show. Kyojin opened with some epic action scenes, interesting opening episode but curious where they will go from here. Maou-sama was funny, so it serves it's purpose~

Soon to be dropped already: Devil Survivor 2 The Animation, maybe Photokano. Never played the Devil Survivor games and the show seems to assume you know what they are talking about but from a newbies point of view it was utter rubbish. Characters were thick as **** one minute, then suddenly know everything the next. Photokano I feel like I've seen it before, was there another show about a kid who got a camera? Most anime these days use recycled plots so not surprising if there is, and it will need more than cartoon boobs and panty shots to win me over.

edit: The camera anime was Ano Natsu de Matteru, so wouldn't be surprised if an alien girl pops up in Photokano heh.

Oh yes. I started watching Maison Ikkoku recently too. My bid to watch older shows. Liking it so far, nothing that I haven't seen regurgitated before though. Might start Urusei Yatsura afterwards.

Majestic Prince will make your brain hurt, even if you turn it off to enjoy stuff blowing up.

Finished watching Hataraku Maou-sama!, enjoyable romp and a keeper for sure.

Fairy Tail just randomly ended. Don't know how you guys feel, but i actually really enjoyed it regardless of the massive tits everywhere.

It had been coming a for few months now, they'd caught up with the manga and it wasn't as popular as One Piece to warrent making more filler(which FT had at least 3 long filler arks in its "short" 175ep run). I enjoyed it despite its over reliance on friendship power pulls over tactics, helped by the best females in shounen (Erza and Ultear) . At least the manga's still going.

I've been away from the anime scene for a few years but decided to indulge in Film4's recent Studio Ghibli season. I was most impressed by Arrietty, despite initially writing it off as a Borrowers rip-off. Lovely animation, likeable characters and great music. I also checked out Ponyo and really enjoyed that as well, despite blatantly being aimed at kids.

Not watched a Ghibli film in a while myself after the boring Earthsea, if you have the latest codecs and an average pc/laptop look in to watching Little Witch Academia.

Round 2 of the new stuff

Majestic Prince ep2 - i like the setup, like the mecha and the sentai style setup.. i just don't like the MC's or why we should believe any adult would make any of decisions these military folk have. It almost like Tiger'n'Bunny but without the charm and farrrr more stupid.

Hataraku Maou-sama ep2 - in my list to watch as soon as its downloaded, good 2nd episode the keeps the comedy up and introduces some plot.

Valvrave ep1 - 3rd mecha show for the season, has aloooong setup for most of the episode before everything blows up and that after the credits bit... it reeks of the same smell Guilty Crown and Code Geass had, so i expect an enjoyable trainwreck. For the moment it best summed up as super robot gundam vampires.
