Oh man. I'm downloading eps 1-10 of [ANBU-AonE] Naruto from gotwoot. Now, it's still only 50% complete in the dl but i've tried playing the 1st episode. It plays but is utterly unwarchable as the image turns into a mass of distorted yellowy colours. This is happening on them all so far.

Is it because i'm still dl the later eps whilst trying to run the earlier ones or are they completely shagged and i should be going elsewhere to start dl'ing Naruto?

      Ngurgh.

First of all, have a check if the file you're watching is actually complete. normally on a bitorrent client, you can right click the torrent and check the status of it, and somewhere in there is an overview of the progress for each file. You might find that the file you're watching is only half done, as it just grabs needed data from whoever, whenever. On Azereus, it's Right Click > Show Details > Files Tab.

If that doesn't work, It might be that you have the wrong video codec, download the latest version of FFDShow (A quick google search will show you the way) and have a go with that.

It shouldn't be corrupt though, I recall getting all of my episodes from gotwoot (including the 10 episode packs) and having no problems.

Can someone help me? I'm interested in watching Naruto because everyone round here keeps talking about it. I'm not heavily into anime but by that I mean I've watched the 'main' ones e.g Neon Genesis, Cowboy bebop, flcl so I'm not new to it either. Anyway I'm trying to get some episodes on bittorrent but am I right in thinking theres a bazillion (approx.) episodes of Naruto?? Wheres a good episode/place to start?

The latest episode of Naruto is 96. 1 - 90 are here in packs of 10 each. Then another subber (whom I prefer to AonE-ANBU) still has seeds for episode 91 - 96 on their page.

i only got into naruto recently, and didnt really want to leave my computer running constantly for a month, so i bought a DVD set, which contains the first 76 episodes...then downloaded the ones up to present.

i know some people will think thats stupid, but its worth mentioning if you want them a bit easier, and maybe faster

YES, more Maria-sama, left it downloading before i went to work, with Samurai Champloo ep 11. Top stuff.

Fuddle: Well, it's not stupid at all, but given that the series hasn't been licensed and that Japanese DVDs seldom contain English subtitles (not to mention they're awfully expensive, running up to 40+ euros for a single DVD that sometimes contains /one/ episode), you've probably bought Hong-Kong DVDs, i.e. bootlegs.
And I know for sure that I will never, *ever*, pay for pirated stuff.

oh yeah, i know they're pirated, but they are decent quality, so i dont mind paying a bit.
40 quid for 70 episodes in a nice box seems perfectly fine by me, and certainly preferable to downloading that amount of stuff...especially on top of all the current series that i'm downloading every week as well.

How very true I've done the same thing with Naruto - as with Initial D, X-Men and Spiderman (the Fox Kids cartoons). I intend to do the same thing with Chobits and Berserk.

Nicks talking about buying dvd sets I think.

What, you mean there are HK DVDs for American animated series too?
                              Man, they're everywhere!

Fuddle: How are the subtitles? HK DVDs are notorious for their subtitles of dubious quality, ranging from (bad) fansub rips to Google translations.

I used to only buy FX sets, everyone else (especially manga international) were truly appalling. Download all the way these days.
