I didn't think the animation was that great ;/ It was smooth, but some of the actual shapes were just messed up. The hand stand kicks rocked tho \o/.

I found the animation to be better in the forest during the chuunin exams. Good times!

GSD 20 is disappointing. It's a recap episode. Not just any recap episode though, a Gundam Seed recap with some Shinn footage inserted.

so should i bother getting 20...is there any story progression at all, or can i skip it?

Beck was pretty good again, but i cant understand why koyuki trusted that tv show bast. seems a bit unbeleivable, but makes it interesting all the same.

and Air was really sad, but at least it explained a few things, which was nice.

Just a heads up for all Beck fans...Both soundtrack cds have been uploaded on tokyotosho. They are fantastic albums, and include 3 (yes 3) versions of moon on the water, one of which is the original by beat crusaders. Get!

Oh, and anyone tried Omyou Taisenki yet? Ive got the first ep sitting on my HD but havent got time to watch it at the moment. Any impressions would be good (I hear its in a similar vein to digimon/pokemon? So I'm guessing its full of potentially marketable IP.....or not).

Speaking of Initial D, I can't get "Fly Away" and "Right Now" (the tunes in episode, er... I think it's 9, Kyoko VS Keisuke) out of my head. Those songs rule. Does anyone know where I can find them?

Hi, I know this isn't about fan-subbed stuff, but you guys all seem knowledgable about anime.

I just want to know about Neon Genesis Evangelion. First of all, is it any good? It's been recommended to me so I thought I'd give it a try. I've ordered the first DVD in the new re-release of the series, which contains (I think) the first 5 episodes. How many episodes are there? And are the films part of the story?

Any info like that would be very much appreciated.

There's 26 episodes in total, and two movies. Death and Rebirth, the first movie, serves as a sort of recap to the audience and prepares them for End of Evangelion, the second movie. You can skip out Death and Rebirth all together now since the only reason anybody used to watch it was because it featured a few clips from the director's cut versions of episodes 22, 23, and 24 (which now come on the remastered DVDs as standard). End of Evangelion essentially replaces episodes 25 and 26 of the series, but I use that term loosely since there's many a debate whether the two endings are actually the same or not in theory... Its all pretty heavy stuff but it features some of the most iconic anime characters you're ever gonna see and is definitely a must-see IMHO.

As Tobal said, RahXephon follows similar themes and is a good alternative or follow-up if you like what you see in Evangelion.
