Finally got round to watching bleach 26. Really good ep, Ikuku is way too similar to vagabonds Inshun IMO, but a good character nonetheless.

Having been away from Anime for a while (well with the exception of Gankutsuou) I'm trying to get back into this seasons new entries.

Speed Grapher Ep1 was excellent, any anime that has Duran Duran's "Girls On Film" as the OP is bound to be a winner! The 80's stylings carry on (not in a cheesy way either) in the car design and semi-Bladerunner style saxaphone sound-track too. The plot is very reminicent of Film Noir, and if it can keep up the tone without slipping too far down the fantasy route. it may continue to shine.

Anyone else catch this? I know that Tobal and Fuddle have been hyping it a little, I wondered if anyone had caught the full episode.

Speed Grapher, was very enjoyable. It was like a interesting version of Monster until that freak bloke turned up killing people (an that bit with the young girl dancer made me rince). Animation was super and the ?Girls on girls? song I think was just part of the subber opening and not actual part of the show(which would have been f?in ace if it was)

Law of Ueki ? another new show but its art style is very old, seems kinder interesting but the plot is pretty stupid, why in gods name does normal town have Evil Doctor with henchmen beating up little kids and has huge drill attachment to his car. Apart from that think Gash no Bell with Gods instead of demons.

Tenshi no Konamiki(sp?) aka Cheeky Angel ? its finally finished ^^, after 2-3 years of downloading this show we finally get the last episode subbed, sad its ended though I was sure at the end which theory to go with

?Was she a boy until the demon magic changer her? or ?She was always a girls but the demons magic fooled her into thinking she was a boy?, either way Genzo finally got what he wanted and samurai boy to.

Just been watching Ep1 of Aquarion... Well, animation is top-notch (typical for an episode 1 -- we'll have to see if it stays at that level), but why do all mecha anime have to be freakin' Super Robot shows!? Dammit, there's a reason the genre should have died at the end of the '70s!

Gonna have to have a look at Speed Grapher, now. Who's subbing it?

Aquarins more of a fast Eva than a Super Robot Show.

Anyway you still have Gundam Seed.

Wild_cat - Speed Grapher is by Shinsen subs, the did an excellent job too.

Tobal - It would seem that Girls on Film is the official opening, as Duran Duran are credited on the official site

The no-nosed assassin guy looks cool! looking forward too more of this.

I've watched all of Witch Hunter Robin (which no-one else seems to have even heard about) and I'm astounded by the amount of work that has gone into the art and sound. That really whet my appetite Full Metal Alchemist at the moment, hear it got licenced half-way through so keeping an eye out for the DVDs soon (hopefully).
I agree, WHR is very under-rated, but it is one of favourites of recent times. I think the ending was a little misjudged (and it's shame that saisan(sp?) turned from a uber-cool manipulator to a ranting bigot in the last episode. I'm glad he gave Amon a good kicking though!) WHR was a very relaxed and mesured anime style-wise, which added alot to the atmosphere - it was reminicent of the style of 40's Film Noir (a term which I'm overusing now ) A special mention goes to the opening, which was excellent. I'm not sure if this was actually included in the DVD, but if not its worth hunting down a copy. I always enjoy OP's where the seqence is orginal and made with the music in mind (the song was Shell by Bana BTW)

Are you just buying or torrenting anime at the moment? If you liked FMA and WHR I'd also highly reccomend, if you've not seen -

Last Exile (out on DVD in the UK now) Wolf's rain, Gilgamesh and Gankutsuou. all of which have the same darker tone that WHR has.

Gankutsuou has been licensed by Geneon now, look out for the R1 releases later this year, I'm really looking forward to it having heard good things about this series

Gankutsuou is well worth it, in fact it's become one of my all time favourite animes. I've just got the penultimate and final episodes - always a tricky time for any series, but It's not let me down yet

Mai-Hime may have the happiest ending ever.

If its what i think happens at the end then im not surprised ---

haven't watched it yet (got it on d/l, should be rdy wheni get back home tonight)

because when their MIP 'dies' and then that pole appears, i reckon there all currently trapped in there just waiting to be let out either by Mai new found power or robot girls outside help. Though im not sure if white hair boy and the demon king guy man it otu alive.

Just watched Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles. It's seems to be a pretty good adaption of the manga with awesome Yuki Kajiura music. Not to fond of the op/ed though. Still I'll keep watching and stuff.

Speed Grapher is next on the list.

mixed feelings about speed grapher really. i thought the begining with the stretchy guy was very cool, but that slight pervy-ness at the end of the episode put me off quite a bit.
still, i dont expect it'll be like that every time, so i'll definately stick with it for a while.

i wont with law of ueki though. rubbish.

i did start downloading Tsubasa Chronicle, but i'm not sure i want it, so i've stopped it for now

All right... I've just watched Speed Grapher episode 1, and it looks extremely promising. Very strong film noir ambiance, with a charismatic main character, nice supporting cast and some Cowboy Bebop influences in the soundtrack... I like it.

(although I feel kinda disappointed, as the title of the series had me expecting an anime about mathematics -- oh well, I'll live )
