I have just noticed that an item I've sold to someone thru eBay (& was paid for by the buyer thru Paypal) has been sold as 2 items. I used Buy It Now as the auction format & the buyer has paid for this item thru Paypal twice eventhough there was only 1 for sale.

I've already sent out the item but only just noticed it. I had noticed a double email from Paypal notifying of the payment received but thought nothing of it as this sometimes happens when I get other emails. Obviously this must have been an error by eBay/Paypal but am I going to have problems refunding the over payment?

    Comment

No, just go to the payment and at the bottom it'll say "refund buyer" . click it and it'll refund.

And that ebooboo is ****. EVERYTHING I've searched for has come up with "0 found". I've done xbox 360, armani, lacoste, clothes. Nowt.

My ebay account was disabled (used my own link not any in the email).
Top of the message read 'eBay International AG sent this message to Stephen Cooper (username removed by me)'

So looked official, i've contacted ebay to ask how these details got out. Not expecting a 'Sorry we was hacked/had dodgy employee' email back.

And the same day got this.....

I'm trying to get a cheap 360 for Gears of War and I found this on eBay:

Sounds... odd. What does everyone else think? If I pay by paypal will I be covered if this goes tits up?

            Comment

Does sound odd but surely the usual PayPal stuff about faulty or non-delivered will apply.

I'm wondering if maybe they just haven't approved any bidders and that's why it's not been snapped up yet. If I can get approval before the auction ends I'd be very tempted to risk it and get a bargain.

                Comment

Maybe they've sold it elsewhere/decided against selling it and wont approve anyone so it can't sell?

                  Comment

I've been on the "Waiting to be approved list" for 2 days now and as far as i know have not been apporved yet.... and i have 50+ feedback all good.

As Alastair say i bet they have sold else where and are just not gonna approve any one.

                    Comment

when i sold my spare xbox360 last christmas i also made it pre-approved

                      mainly because
1/ the amount of d**kheads going around with fake ebay accounts and ruining people's auctions
2/ it was a local pickup sale only since it was so close to christmas and i didnt want anybody who lived more than 50 miles bidding on it
2/ so i could sell it for ?0.99 to the gentleman who gave me what i wanted for it, basically i made sure it was somebody local rather than post the item, i would meet them close to my house and deliver in person, then they knew exactly what they were getting and my ebay fees were very small for it as well

funny the amount of emails i was getting near the end begging to be added and everybody was trying to do each other over with excuses trying to get added - using children and all sorts, and when i didnt add them because of 1 of the 3 reasons above the abuse i got was incredible

so it worked for me, i got retail for the xbox (what i wanted) and the sale was completed in 1 evening rather than fanny about with postage and the though of the sale getting wrecked by some fecker

Just found a suspciously similar one:

                        http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-Xbox...QQcmdZViewItem

And then the icing on the cake was this:

                        http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Premium-X-box-...QQcmdZViewItem

they're all ostensibly by different sellers, and maybe they are genuinely different people, but they all seem to have some sort of involvement with those referall site scams.

Also I called a friend of mine who has a lot of ebay experience and she reckons that a lot of these auctions are never intended to sell to begin with - they either approach you after the auciton has ended but not through ebay (obviously a bit sus) or else they use the free re-listing but approve only those bidders who asked to be approved the first time around, and a bidding frenzy ensues.

All in all I've changed my mind!

                        - EDIT -

And here my friends is the cherry on top, just received from one or other of the three above:

                        "Hi there,

Sorry but my friend actually gave me ?200 for it last night as I needed the cash quickly. I removed it from sale but eBay doesn?t seem to have removed the listing as I?m still getting questions about it so sorry for wasting your time.

I?ll probably have another one up in a few weeks anyway as I get them for free. I should have a PS3 for sale on release date too as I?ve almost completed the referrals on www.freeconsoles.co.nr. Worth taking a look if you want to get one for free with not much effort, all you have to do is sign up for a free DVD trial and get a few friends to do the same.

Otherwise just check back in a few weeks when I have received another one. I?ll list as a 7-day auction as I won?t be in as much of a rush for the cash!

If you?ve any questions just let me know
                        "

What a fecking wheez. Don't think I'll bother looking on teh bay of flea anymore.

I think he is just using the auction to advertise himself on a referal site, since the item doesn't ever sell he can relist for free and people keep clicking the link...

Could I trust an ebayer with 99+ feedback when it comes to buying a used modded-ps2?

Guys be very careful with all this approval crap - 99.9% these are fraudsters.

Its buyers on ebay & paypal that are doing my head in at the mo.

This guy bought an item off me, then says he bought it in error & would like to offer me the cost of listing the item back because of the hassle. I thought that it sounded pretty good to me. So I said yes & told him I'd still have to file a dispute (in order to get my FVF back) but that I'd state it was a mutual agreement, meaning he wouldnt get neg strike.
Its been a week & no payment has turned up so I file a dispute anyway. He's replied to the dispute & says I wont action this any further when he tells ebay that I made him an offer in order for me to not leave a negative feedback for him & for claiming the FVF. What a cheek!! He's basically blackmailing me now!, & I stated this in my response. He just wanted to keep me sweet but now he doesnt want to pay out for the listing of this item.
The problem is now I know he's gonna make up some bull**** in his feedback to me & I'm gonna have my 1st negative. And all because ebay is full of twats like this guy.
