Were you covered by the "seller protection" ? If not, you're screwed, and even if you were, there's a good chance you still are. I lost ?180 for eBaying a PSP and then having the transaction reversed a year or so ago.

If you have a tracking number you should be fine. I didn't know that transactions could be reversed though - as far as I know, Paypal are NOT allowed to take any money out of your account unless they've conducted an investigation which takes 30 + days. Did it say 3rd party hacking or something?
For something expensive, only send to a confirmed address, then you're covered.

Right okay htis is what has happend so far:
There is a 'Temporary Hold Pending Investigation' on the payment. I got an email from Paypal when I got home.
Here's what Paypal have said:
'It has come to our attention that you may be the recipient of potentially unauthorised funds. We have initiated an investigation into this event. In the meantime, we have placed a temporary hold on the funds in question until the investigation is complete. This temporary hold will show as a deduction in your available balance. In the meantime, you are free to continue transacting using your PayPal account.
To assist us in our investigation, please send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
1. The item, service or purpose of the purchase, and the associated value.
2. The name and address given to you by the sender (if an item was purchased);
3. If posted, the company used for postage, date of postage, and tracking number for the delivery.
4. Details of any other transactions related to the transaction(s) in question;
5. A phone number where you can be reached during the day and evening; and
6. Insurance information, if applicable.
Any additional information you have regarding this transaction, such as email correspondence, will further help us to expedite our investigation. Solving these cases helps us continue to offer PayPal as a secure and cost-effective payment service. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance.
Yours sincerely,
PayPal Account Review Team'.

I emailed the buyer asking why this has happened & he told me that PP wanted him to verify his bank details & he assured me that he was sorting out the problem out by last night. It still isnt sorted today & I got an email from PP telling me that because i have no tracking no. they have cancelled the buyers funds from my account. WANKERS!!.
What pisses me off is that the buyer has since been able to bid for & pay for (judging by the positive feedback from the sellers) 2 other items worth over ?70 since my auction ended!!
Why havent PP got a procedure in place that stops a transaction like this from being made in the 1st place?
I posted the item the day after payment was made & if PP had sorted it sooner then this whole thing could have been avoided & I wouldnt be out of pocket.
By the way, I've sent Paypal a nasty email explaining all this & that I'm not happy with their service.

Originally posted by charlesrWell, having been assured the ?5 would be credited to my account, today I got an invoice for it. Is there any way of removing the credit card details from my account so they can't charge me? I've emailed them to tell them sort their lives out, but I wonder if they will reply before removing the money from my card....
I phoned Barclaycard who have given me the money back into my credit card straight away and are going to duke it out with ebay. By the sound of it, they've had lots of problems like this before.
So: Barclaycard: KUDOS
Ebay: BAD KARMA.

Sending to an unconfirmed Paypal payment address?
Okay after I got ripped off by Paypal & a buyer (reversed transaction but payment was reversed after I had sent the item), I've now decided that I'm only going to send items by Recorded/Special Delivery & to buyers who have a confirmed address.
But what I want to know is what does the confirmed/uncomfirmed address actually entitle u to should something go tits up?
I ask because a buyer with 0 feedback has just paid by Paypal & has an unconfirmed address & I'm really weary of this one.
Also another buyer has paid with Paypal, has an unconfirmed address but has a feedback rating of about 600.
Can anyone give me some advice & answer my questions?
Thanx in advance

similar story
Sold an item (Japanese xbox 360 faceplate) to a US buyer, shipped it via airmail with proof of posting. Turns out it wasnt his card he was buying with (it was his brothers) and i get the paypal payment reversed. Soooo i'm now ?20 out of pocket and still dont have the item. Moral of the story ALWAYS SEND ITEMS (INTERNATIONAL) VIA A SHIPPING METHOD WITH TRACKING. Otherwise you dont have a leg to stand on.

Seller Protection.
Please understand that we cannot keep our sellers from choosing to
