Damn. Vettel takes it. Redbull 1-2. Button 6th. Barrichello takes 3rd for another Brawn Podium though.

Good job Vettel! Nice to see another 1-2 for the Red Bulls. Thought Fisi had a particularly good drive today.

Good to see that James Allen has a new job,

Significant milestone today - Vettel's first win in the dry.

He is absolutely the number one driver in Formula One now in my opinion, with Alonso and Hamilton a smidgen behind. I would love to see Vettel and one of those two in the same team next year.

I thought whoever was doing the camerawork today did probably the best job I have ever seen for a televised GP - nobody does it better than the British. It was spectacular, and I enjoyed in particular the Alonso/Heidfeld and Hamilton/Kubica battles. More of the same please!

Yet again Raikkonen gets beaten by Massa. He should exit stage left at the end of the season - a disgrace that he gets paid ?30 million a year.

And did anyone hear James Allen asking the questions in the press conference? I thought we had heard the last of that man.....

The after race coverage was really decent. I so desperately wanted to be there.

As Brundle said, will give Jenson something to ponder later on tonight, think he's built up enough of a lead over Vettel to be safe this year, but today just shows how much can change between races/tracks. Hamilton, Kubica and Alonso scrapping for the tail end places just confirms that.

Nurburgring in three weeks time is the next race.

Anyone who thinks Raikkonen is in any way a bad driver doesn't know what they're talking about.

Some great shots of the Ferrari and Red Bull cars today, they're beautiful.

The race itself was a bit meh, slightly a foregone conclusion. It could have been different at the start maybe but once the Red Bulls got away cleanly it was race over.

                Funny comments from Brundle today:

"I'm gonna go on the Internet tomorrow and buy one of those [race predictor] computers."

[On Hamilton going off track] "That's through Vale and Abbey...uncharted territory."

Well, I am back from Silverstone. Did I enjoy it? It was alright. Do I know who finished where? Haven't got a clue. Did I pay a fortune for my ticket. Yep. Did I actually see anything interesting? Nope. Would I go again? Nope, definitely not. To top it off I have sunburn... on one side of my face.

Told you to slap on the factor 50 !

That is the trouble with the F1 field at the moment, after about twenty or so laps the tail end are almost being lapped does make it hard to see who is where when you don't have the benefit of a TV in front of you. Really noticed (and enjoyed) the amount of stats the BBC showed today, seemed they had either the timed positions or number of pit stops scrolling along the bottom of the screen 90% of the time.

That sort of info would have been very useful. I did see people had paid £80 to rent those portable TVs. Didn't see the point to be honest. If I wanted to watch it on TV then I'd have done it at home (which I will do next year).

Oh, and if I hadn't seen it then I wouldn't have believed it... but Bernie Ecclescake is the smallest man on the planet.

Just got back from 3 days of Silverstone, my first GP and quite an experience - I can't wait for my next race

For the F1 race we were stood down at Club and had pretty good sight of the track from Vale to Abby, though every time something interesting happened that sight was decreased as everybody stood up in the way (and someone had a huge Brawn flag up which was RIGHT IN THE WAY). Most of the interesting stuff in the F1 actually happened around that area so we picked the right place, just didn't get in early enough.
We had paid for Bronze tickets at Copse, but despite getting in at around 08:30 the place was rammed so didn't get a good look at the track. For the first GP2 race all I could see was three marshals, a double fence and two ****ing idoitic ignorant woman.

Silverstone tip of the day - either pay for grandstand tickets, or get in early WITH SEATS so you can 'reserve' your space German style.

The race itself was great for the first 10 or so laps as Vettel put in one of the best performances I've ever seen. In qualifying and practice it was almost impossible to see who was running the quickest, but in the race each lap we could clearly see Vettel pulling away from Rubans. Even on the first lap he was over a second ahead. Incredible.
Once Vettel started to lap the backmarkers and the pitstops started, I completely lost track of what was happening. I had headphones to listen to Silverstone radio, but could only hear when there was nothing going by (which was rare!).
Heki getting destroyed and Lewis spinning happened right in front of us, which was pretty much the only incidents in the race, but it was good all the same.

To be honest I enjoyed the first practice on Friday and the support races more. During the Friday and Saturday we had great seats ranging from the pit straight opposite the Mclaren garage, to a particularly cold granstand at the end of Hanger straight to a perfect view at Club overlooking Vale for the awesome Classic car qualifying. Despite not having a clue about the support races, I did enjoy the closeness of BMW, GP2 and especially the Supercub (Porsche).

Good stuff, I'll definately go again and although it cost a lot I'll be back with even better tickets next time!

I took a lot of photos but it's taking forever to copy to me PC...I'll post them later either here on in the photography thread

Just to add to that.. my tip... don't get grandstand tickets in Pit Straight (where I was). You get to see everyone milling around before hand, but you won't see much (any) of the race!

Oh, I enjoyed the porkies racing around too. Especially the guy bringing up the rear with the back corner of his car missing

                          Comment

The grandstand seemed to have much better atmosphere than anywhere else we were, helped that it was actually confortable unlike standing in one spot for half a day! Would have loved to have a press pass and get in close, beyond the barriers!

The guy with rear missing was quite funny, good on him for not giving up despite being miles behind

I couldn't believe how expensive everything was. Got a program and a baseball cap and I was suddenly £35 down! A hog roast bap (which was tiny) cost £5 too. The amount of money they must take in is incredible - saw hundreds of people wearing complete replica kits of certain teams (well, two teams in particular...) and the coats alone cost £200.

A pic of Kubica in qualifying:

Unfortunately most shots came with a free fence
