Hmm, biscuits. I've gotten through a whole box of broken biscuits this week and only 20 miles on the bike, two weights sessions (the second was pretty funny 'cos the missus starts shouting at me 'cos I'm sweating all over the place, middle of the living room). Back to the gym tomorrow, wonder if I put any weight on?

I've decided I'm not going for the ultra-muscular look. Toned is fine for me I reckon. I'm weak for the biscuit

I've given up until next year now. Done a little experiment Thurs and Fri, I can definitely drop 2kg of [almost entirely] fat in 2 days with proper calorie cycling, mainly depleting glycogen and dropping carbs to less than 50g a day. Done me some good, first time in months I've stuck to a diet.

May only have been 2 days, but psychologically I know I can do it.

Figure there's little point trying to be sensible with a week until the Yearly Binge (aka Xmas), so I'm going to try and relax and actually enjoy my food [very hard for me] and as of Jan 2nd, I'll be looking to drop quite a bit of fat.

I doubt you'll put that much on though, given how quickly you can loose it. I'm down to 81.2kg today, the biscuits couldn't have been all that bad (ace). Although the week off didn't do me that good 'cos rowing was hard today (5k, 19:11.2). I walked around a bit, did some abs and I just felt weak, needed to sit down and recover. Phew!

Well done Stuey - now put on some muscle!

Seriously, that's great. Lost the weight pretty fast (5 1/2 months!), too fast if you ask me, but so long as your heart is OK and your kidneys are functioning, that's the most important thing.

Done a little training so far this week, nothing ground breaking but 100kg is starting to get easier - only 2 reps, so a way to go to my best, but getting there.

Next week, no lifting at all. However, thinking of having a little go at press-ups. Anyone interested in a little competition? Who can do the most consecutive press-ups?

I've not done any in AGES, used to get 60-80 so hoping to hit the 100 mark. However my back is still pretty ****ed so I may not manage any

Man, I can't do press-ups to save my life I can do about 50 properly. Not tried in a while, I tend to avoid them 'cos they kill me But sure, why not huh?

100kg man, christ Chain that's crazy weights. I'm up to 50 like, can do almost three sets but man that's crazy. Sure it's not pounds?

After a few weeks slacking off and only going twice a week I'm hammering the gym again. Got another big ol' tub of protein, N.O. Xplode and Training Paks in the post this morning to aid aswell. Once again I instantly noticed the difference with the N.O., great stuff, managed an extra 15lbs on most of my lifts for my back/shoulders today and even the other guys that are huge were impressed with what I was lifting too. Its all coming along nicely recently. Along with doing a good bit more CV too, lots of cycling and running and can already see a great deal more definition in my leg muscles.

Really going to tank it for the next month since I've got a good few days off work and no uni at all, just pushing myself to the limit and chucking as much weight on as possible.

Not sure about the press ups for me, can do about 30-40 until my joints get too sore, dunno why I cant do stuff like that, I'm fit enough for it, just my elbows and knees give way alot of the time doing things like that. I'll give it a go tomorrow after my cycle and see how many I get and let you know!

And on my bench press I done 8 reps on 60kg, but that was at the end of my workout and after lifting alot of stuff, I really need to start doing benching at the start of my workout to see what I can properly lift. Reckon I could push out 8 reps on 75kg, I'll just add 5kg every week for the next month and see if I pull it off!

Marklar, before I blew my back, my training was getting really good. I'd hoped to be up to 120kg bench by Xmas, but everything kind of went downhill following the injury. I did 110kg 6 weeks back, but since I've had the kid I've dropped so much strength. At my peak I'd have hit 5 or 6 reps at 100.

The thing that upsets me the most about my back going is I can't squat anymore. Was up to 110kg*10 reps, rest a few mins, then drop to 90kg*20 reps <- now that's hard

Different people have different things going for them. I train with heavy weights. Get me outside doing some cardio I'll keel over before you fitness guys have even worked up a sweat.

So who else is up for this press-up challenge? Should just be a laugh, we'll set a day next week when we should all give it a go.

Just make sure it's either Xmas eve or a good few days after the Xmas binge!

OH and not to rub it in Marklar, but we had a comp at the gym, benching 60kg. I stopped after 30 reps 8)

Man, you guys are throwing some serious weight around on those benchpresses! Me = impressed.

I went to the gym for the first time in about 10 days yesterday, and it nearly knocked me for six. I had been doing uni work solid for around a month, but for the last week before the deadline, i literally didnt leave the house, sat on my arse all day drawing CAD work.

Before that, I had been going everyday for about a month, and have started getting back into that rythmn, having been tonight too. My weights are also noticeably increasing in ...well, weight. And im almost doing my dips and chin ups with no weight assistance now.

Im getting there, and it feels great.

I'm up for that. Anyone wanting to try, but who don't do this sort of thing regularly, should make sure you do 5mins warm up before, otherwise you'll mess yourself up.

What's a press up though? Down to 90° on the elbow? Or lower, like nose to the floor to make it easier?

I've no idea how I will do in this. Never really do press-ups.

                          Comment

I go chin to floor, or certainly within an inch.

Just thought it would be fun over Xmas to see how many I can do, glad there's some good response here.

Yeah, I usually go for nose to floor, never really thought of any other way.

I dont know how anyone can do 100, that just seems crazy to me. 100 reps of anything is just mental, I'll be happy if I can do 30 come to think of it as I haven't done them for a while. But I'll give it a go and see what I get after a nice warm up.

                              No cheating mind!!

100 may be overly optimstic, but anything over 80 will do me.

Advice for everyone - don't hit them all quick in succession! Do say twenty, catch your breath for a second, then do them in 5 or 10 reps. Don't hold yourself up for too long though, that'll tire the muscles out. It's just enough time for an extra breath.

Bet I fall flat on my face at 50 now 8)
