Yassss! Only 2 years after my ankle injury playing football I will be getting my operation! 3rd December is the date I have been told now. So happy. Can't wait to get it sorted and get back to normality by next summer hopefully.

Still been doing lots at the gym and as much cycling as possible so should hopefully recover fairly fast. Cant wait to run again. I haven't ran for two whole years!!

\o/ Do lots of off-road to strengthen it up, whilst being careful to keep it all upright

Bought some new trainers today I never managed to fully cure the blisters in my Asics 2150s (their product feedback is awash with people with the same problem). I got rid of the one at the heel but putting my old insoles in, but the edge of the ball of my right foot is taking a battering. So I got some Asics Gel-cumulus AW10 from wiggle's 3 day shoe sale (starts today). No idea what aw10 means. Hope these are better.

Autumn Winter 2010 range I use 2150 n think they are fine although my toe goes through the front mesh after about 600miles which is time to replace them anyway. Love Asics though. I used to use Kayano's but they were just too expensive, 2150 are lighter n cheaper. Thought the cumulus were more neutral.

Yeah, I never really paid much attention to what the shoes were for until I started getting blisters with these - realised I don't need the 2150 at all. I'm neutral and under 11 stone so should have been wearing something like the Cumulus already. Doh.
Thanks for th AW tip. Does that mean it's designed more warmly or grippier? Or just to let you know when it was released?

Went MTB racing (XC) for the first time in 6 years.
I did the 2 lap fun race in just under an hour. I came twelth out of 77, so pretty pleased My god, it was tough though. I used to do the 4 lap sport race!

However, my technical skills were far superior to what they used to be and indeed almost all the other people in the same race. Bits of the course that used to terrify me I found completely natural and easy and enjoyable. Because they were super technical

I couldn't believe how slowly some of the people were going down hills (with corners). I was hammering them right on the ragged edge of traction.

The course was in Crowthorne Woods just off J3 of the M3. I'm used to the scary slipply chalky south downs from this year's riding so to be let loose there was a joy. Hilarious fun, even though the corners looked wet and slippy, there was so much grip compared to chalk that my tyres just dug in and railed round.

            Super stoked.

I thought I was going to sleep really well last night, but it took me ages to get to sleep. I was too hyped up after the race, running through it in my mind.

I'm in, again! My biggest vices are, I eat too much, I drink too much lager and I'm not exercising.

I'd rather not state my weight.

Started dieting Monday, not a crash diet or a fad, stuff I enjoy, smaller portions e.t.c.

I know how to diet sensibly anyway. Sticking to it is the harder part.

I start jogging Monday, My running shoes should be here in the morning, I got an MP3 sorted, and worked out my route. Just a small distance, I think its a mile tops.

If you knew the shape and mess I'm in, that is a nice challenge. As always when I run/jog, that will be daily, 7 days a week, once a bit of fitness kicks in, I'll enjoy it(been here before) and set a higher goal for the next stage.

Lager shouldn't be a problem, I drink heavily, but I don't struggle not to drink, I haven't drank in 5 hours now...see..I'm getting there.

Joking aside, I am serious. Posted here as any shouts of encouragment honestly help me. I always listen to others, my upfall and downfall. Hehe.

                Happy Christmas

Nice one. Can I suggest 4 or 5 times a week? 7 doesn't give you any time time to recover. And use mapmyrun to track how often you are going (it will also figure out how far and how many calories).

If you want to start running then check out the running plans on Runners World etc.

It's not how far you run that counts, it's how long you run for. The plans start with a run/walk pattern, until you can run without stopping for 30 mins. The biggest mistake to make is to run too much, too soon. You need to build up to it otherwise injury is just around the corner, esp in this colder weather. When you can run for an hour then you can start to think about improving times etc.

No just means you can see when they were made no difference at all. Also sometime you can see they are grey imports. I had some from one place that were the colour released in Australia. Only times things change is when they change model ie 2050 to 2150 or kayano 16 to 17 etc

Mapmyrun is good, if you've a Gramin then the garmin connect is awesome I often use it when i go on 50m + rides as its the only way to see where i've been!

I start my running tomorrow. From running every year from about age 21 to 32 around 10-11 years, I gave up around 4 years ago. I let myself go. BIGTIME!

                          I'll be okay, right?

As long as you don't expect to get back to previous form in 1 run, then yes

I expect to struggle a bit. I'll be okay, sorted out some running stuff and my running shoes are here, and I got my MP3 ready. I'm good to go

thats the best bit of running, you don't need anything other than shoes, then its one foot in front of the other and repeat

                                have a great one.
