Winky those are really great. The composition on both is just fantastic. Seriously good work man (and there's a slice of cake on it's way to you )

I was loitering around the landing lights whilst a few went over. Was wanting something bigger (like one of the 777s that land at brum), still happy with the result. Both images taken with the 15mm Fisheye.

Nice sharp doggy nose btw, great pic

Steve, love the fish. Nice and colourful

Some good pics yet again - I like your B&W conversion Winky

I didn't really get anything great on Sunday - I went to Ferry Meadows, but it was all a bit boring, open and featureless ( and cold ). I got a couple, but the trainline one must have been done to death by pretty much everyone.

I know what you mean about the moon - it's a pity it's not a bit larger :/

Great pictures guys. GT: Love that first shot of the plane!

Oh my god, is that actually Thomas? That's amazing!

            Great pictures everyone!
I love both of those underwater shots MonkeySteve, especially the second one.
I really enjoyed both of those shots Winky.
Marty, the canal one's quite nice, and I really like the Thomas train. The conducter gives it a really nice air.
HaHaUK, all three are nice there. The last one has really nice sharp detail in it, with lots of interesting lines, and I lurrrve the escalators one, with it's pleasing degree of symmetry, and decadent touch of voyeurism. Nice work!

Like that last pic Haha - very nicely composed.

I just d/ld the photos from my Samsung G800 phone - I can't say I've been very impressed with the results from it, especially considering it's sold as the "photographer's phone" - the pics are usually blurred or grainy or both. I've had one usable pic from it.

Edit - the photo had corruption, replaced it on flickr

I slightly relieved to hear that, as I almost upgraded to one simply for the camera. Still, that's a seriously excellent photo, quite clear and generally interesting to look at. Any technical shortcomings are a bit of a moot point.

Edit: You've fixed it. Everything seems to look better on Flickr though. I don't think this grey background does our photos any favours.

This is the best of your bunch but not really feeling them. They dont seem as sharp as your other stuff.
Love the shot of the steel balls though. That deserves the fully Marty treatment as the reflections are great.
And the picture is not bad compared to my camera phone, pretty darn good actually.

HaHa the last two shots are excellent, the first is good but overshadowed by the last. Great detail and great colour with the window at the end of the mall.
The plane trail in the building shot is fabulous, a great capture.

That's why they're not on flickr

They're taken with the 10D and a manual 35mm M42 lens - I had it set at infinity focus with f5.6, so that probably explains it. I should have stopped it down a couple more stops I think, but I was helping my brother out with his new ( and my old ) D50, so I wasn't really concentrating on what I was doing.

Edit - and why isn't your peg shot in this thread?

Yeah I guessed that as they were not on Flickr that you felt they lacked something. I hope I didn't offend. Is your brother just starting? hope he enjoyed his day out.

I added this disclaimer type thing to my profile the other week, I am always worried that by commenting on something I upset someone.

I wasn't sure of the pegs picture to be honest. I love adding grain to these black and white type images but worry that I over use it. Also I wasn't sure if it was an interesting picture, mostly an exercise in depth of field.

                          Of course not

Yeah my brother has just started out, so I think he'd appreciate any encouragement.

Some good picturess for his first time. The abstract of the jukebox is great. Great colour. I added him as a contact so if he is curious as to who I am you can let him know :P.

As a newbie myself he can feel free to have a chat with me if he likes, although I am sure you can keep him right

Just for the record, if any of you folk get added by an Adrian Purser on Flickr, that'd be me. Annoyingly right now there's a lot of tripe that goes on my stream as I'm doing a project that has me taking a photo every day for a year, and funnily enough I'm not always inspired enough to even make the effort to try for a good shot. Only 2 months away from finishing now though, and every now and again you'll see a couple of good ones crop up hopefully

Nice planes GT, nice fish Steve, nice shopping centre HaHa (had to go to flickr and look what camera you were using as I was certain you'd got a DSLR, that's some great quality), nice shiny balls Marty (damn good for a phone but sorry to hear it's not up to scratch generally. Nice pegs Winky. I think the grain is just right, take a look at some film images on Flickr to guage how much grain actually comes from film, it's a lot more than I was expecting even on an ISO 125 film when I got back into film.

Forgot to mention to you all that I have upgraded the 70-200 f4L to a 100-280 f5.6L, can you guess how?

Also, where's Richard.John gone? All that gear and some lovely photos and I've not seen anything of him here or on Flickr for ages
