Cheers HaHa - he does look quite funny..
Liking those - I also like taking close up shots of buildings/structures etc - I'm tempted to look at getting an UWA lens - maybe the Sigma 10-20..
Given that I work in the Square Mile, I have great architecture all around, so there is lots of potential there.
I've always been a fan of the Gherkin, just love the impact it has on the skyline. That said, I like most of the other stuff by Sir Norman Foster as well..

UWA lenses will give you mahoosive distortion. They're best used for getting really close up to a something, and giving you lots of background detail. I can't believe I'm going to link to a Ken Rockwell post, but here we go. Just make sure you know what you're getting into! If you're really into architecture, a tilt-shift lens is the best possible buy, as it allows you to shift the lens up to get a full building in without getting that diminishing distortion.

Yeah, tis an amazing piece of kit. I'm currently trying to get a gig that's worth renting one of these for...
Also, look at this: http://www.zoerk.com/pages/p_psa.htm Uses the larger image circle of 6x7 lenses to allow you to shift on a 35mm camera. Pretty smart if you ask me.

Think 2k is way over my limit. Probably by 1999 at the moment.Last edited by Ginger Tosser; 31-08-2009, 12:55.

I've just bought Canon 70-300mm IS Ultrasonic lens and it's a beaut. Can anyone give me some quick pointers on how to best utilise a large telephoto lens and when to best use one? Mostly been using it for portraits and closeups the last few days and would love to be more experimental with it.
