Looked very bleak that day. I just got a rocket sensor cleaner to blast my dust off. Seems to have almost done the trick. Just the odd one i missed

Any fellow Flickr users played with fd's flickr toys?
Do fun stuff with your digital photos. Create and print free personalized motivational posters, calendars, movie posters, magazine covers, badges, mosaics, collages, and more!
Great for wasting some time and a very easy way to do 'stuff' with your photos.
You don't have to be a Flickr user to use the site by the way, you can just upload a shot from your HD.

Isn't PP great!! I basically shot it on a white card background but for the Lego I forgot to overexpose a little to make the white actually look 'white'.
I thought I'd have a play in PS to see what I could save but couldn't get it looking good white. What you see above is the best I could get from the shot I took, I think it turned out well.
'Studio' lighting consisted of natural light from window coming from the right and a torch held just out of shot on the left giving the big shadow on the right, about 4 inches from the figure.

I do like it a lot though, the eye is drawn to that one drop of water. Very nice.

Macro Ring Flash...meh, just use a window
Just kidding! I've had to do things on the cheap having spent all my money on a macro lens, so use a large window for light, photographic paper under a subject, behind and sometimes hold another to reflect light back. My 'studio' cost about three quid. The lighting isn't professional by any means, but you can get some nice results.
Main problem I have with my 100mm macro lens is actually getting far enough away to get in enough of the subject. Particularly difficult when I'm actually holding the back piece of card. Concidering I do not have a remote release on the camera it creates an interesting situation where I have to stretch with both arms full length - one to fire the camera and the other to hold the background up.
Are you convinced yet?
Just come back from taking some shots, not checked them yet but nearly had a very expensive fall! I tend to get carried away when shooting and forget that I have fairly hefty kit with me...but off I go climbing an extremely steap slope, camera in one hand, tripod in the other plus a bag full of kit. I get to the top, audibly say "meh" then realise I can't get back down! I spent a good 10 minutes just standing there worried about my camera. Eventually I started inch my way back down when I slipped, and slid must the way down on my arse. Classy.
Luckly none of my camera kit was damaged in any way (somehow the bag landed on my beer gut), but it could have been bad!

That's cool. Macro lenses are officially the best thing ever!
Two shots from me taken tonight. Please excuse the watermarks, still haven't decided if it is worth buying the software (Photomatix) or not. If you've missed it from a page back, the effect is known as HDR, which is two or more differently exposed shots merged together.
Still undecided on the whole thing really, you can get images looking very unreal which is cool (almost like they were ripped out of Oblivion), but certain things almost come out looking 'dirty'. Skies in particular! Still, you can transform otherwise bland shots into something a little more interesting.
