Sorry mate, wasn't trying to offend. But, on my screens at least either its not in 100% perfect focus or the image artifacts are causing the problem.

    What lens are you using?

      I didn't think you were.

Artifacts? You sure your monitor isn't on the blink? On my 17" LCD at home it looks very vibrant and sharp. On my second DELL 17"" CRT it's not quite so vibrant, but looks sharp. On My 22" screen, it's quite drab, but that has the brightness turned down a little given I have to use it for programming all day.

I guarantee it's 100% perfect focus - you can see the veins in the leaf even. The lens can sometimes make shots look a little soft but not in this instance. It's a Tamron 28-200 with something like a 1:3.4 on the macro end, so it's by no means a great lens. I plan on getting a dedicated macro as soon as I can, just need some magical funds from the money fairy first

Has anyone tried producing some HDR shots? It's something to do with blending an over\under and correct exposed shot into one. Do a seach on Flickr for HDR group, some of the results are wonderfully unrealistic - dreamlike.

I must admit that's something I'd never heard of before. Just had a look on flickr.

As I understand it then, you take a number of different photos exposing for the highlight, midtone and shadow, and then merge them to make everything look saturated. Hmm, I'm not totally convinced looking at the results.

          There's a n00b group here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/65141193@N00/

Yep, it looks very hit and miss. But when it works:

I can honestly say that the body and limbs of the insect are soft and blend a little. And, yes, I can see the veins in the leaf and they are a little soft too. As I said, its not a criticism as such, I just assumed its a lens limitation or its a softening caused by saving.

Caught this teeny bugger today murdering an unidentified insect (anyone care to tell me what it is?)

And I took these two this morning with my new lens (not the macro one - that hasn't arrived yet, this was taken with a 70-300mm Nikon lens) at its maximum focal length. Not bad quality for a cheapish lens I reckon. Its this one:

Today was the first time I used it and I'm really its flexibility for outdoors shots. Can't wait for the new macro lens though!

Very freaky, good though. I must get out and do some photography.

Ish, I like the Loch ness swan you've put on Flickr!

The Garden show was crowded so not great for photography, got a couple of shots but nothing great.

Melissa's mum has a film EOS though so I borrowed her 75-300 f4 for the w/e. It's an old lens and not great but it was nice to have a longer reach than normal. I did find the 'shake' very intrusive at anything below 1/100 though as I didn't take my tripod (wish I had). I need to buy a lens with Image Stabilizing like my dads new ones, they rock.

Been on holiday so got a few snaps. Some good wildlife and scenery:

Was a walking holiday. In that last pic, I walked up 1.2Km to get up there. Took 3hours40mins. Was a lot quicker coming down mind....
