Found a roll of film today so went and had a play with my Eos 50E. It's quite wierd after every shot i found myself looking at the back of the camera.

It'll be interesting to see the quality of a scanned image compared to RAW digital shot.

I've just received my new macro lens and I've been out taking a few pics. I have to say, this lens absolutely rocks; I'm very happy with my initial results, so I imagine they can only get better. Don't feel so guilty about spending all that cash now

Nice pics Marty. You've got some really nice sharp shots there. Love the ladybird

Thanks - it just goes to show that my other lenses have been holding me back because of their quality. The colours and sharpness of this lens just craps on them from a great height.

              Excellent shots, two questions though:
1)How are you finding so many interesting beaties to snap
2)How are you keeping everything in such good focus? You've only just got the lens, the first few hundred shots have to be a blurred mess!

                1) I haven't mowed the lawn for well over a month
                2) Either skill or luck

I'm using manual focus, f14 and a flash. I haven't been able to capture a number of butterflies very well. I'm not sure whether it's the flash or mirror noise that makes them flitter when you press the shutter button.

I wasn't using my flash when I first got my macro lens but on my later shots have been. It makes a big difference to the clarity I've found.

Using the flash definitely makes a difference, as you can stop right down and that gives you far greater depth.

I'm really quite astounded how much difference this lens has made to the captures I'm getting. The colours are so vibrant with it.

Nice macro's Marty. Sadly my garden seems to be devoid of life. Must be all the dead plants. I've tried to get a few insects with flash. Seems to give more DOF for me, still the little buggers are too quick.

Managed to get this effort (without flash). Would have prefered the focus on the head. oh well

Fantastic detail and colour on the thirsty hoverpid. I think those Aphid's are cool too.
