Haha - still loving these architecture shots - heard about Open House at all ?
Spags - good stuff - is that Hadleigh Castle in the background ?
Mr Ono - great panorama. I do like Hong Kong. Would love to go back..
Few from the other day - you can see the detail in these better when viewed a bit larger.

Help needed guys, went on holiday to Italy for two weeks taking thousands and pictures, alot I must say were just on auto as I didn't want to turn it into a photography holiday as my girlfriend would have killed me. But coming back and looking at them, they all have a mark in the same spot of the image. I can't tell what it is or where is it as I can't see any visible marks anywhere on the camera to cause this. Where do I go to get it fixed or cleaned or whatever? I'm going to Paris in two weeks and want it sorted by then so as not to tarnish those photos too.
I'll upload an example when I'm home tonight to show what I mean.

It could just be a small bit of dust which is either on the Camera lens or the sensor in the camera itself. I've never experienced this myself yet, but it should be quite a simple problem to rectify, as I think there's some sort of blowing device that uses compressed air or something that you could buy, or take it to a camera shop and they may be able to do it for a price.

Sounds like you've got some dust on the camera sensor - fairly common if you change lenses outside.
It's a pain, but hopefully fairly simple to fix.
Get yourself a rocket blower (I have a Giottos one that cost about 7 quid), and blow the dust off the sensor.
Best to do it indoors. Make sure you have a full battery charge. Remove the lens. Set the camera to mirror lock up, and hold it with the lens opening facing downwards. Put the blower into the camera and puff some air in (Make sure you DO NOT touch the sensor with the blower). When you turn the camera off, it will drop the mirror down again.
Should do the job (for a while - it's almost inevitable that you'll get dust in there from time to time). Sounds a lot more daunting that in actually is.
There are other, more effective ways of cleaning dust, but they also cost more. I'd start with a blower first. Don't get a really cheap one - they tend to actually blow rubber particles into the camera.
Finally, as I recall, you have a Sony A200 - I think that has a built in dust removal option as well - might be worth a look..

Cheers, I'll try a wee air blower then, the A200 has a shake/vibration feature which it does every time you turn it off to get dust off it but obviously that hasn't made a difference this time. I never take the lens off as I don't have another one so god knows how anything got in there. I'm praying it's not a scratch on the lens but it can't be as I have a lens filter which never gets removed and the mark still appears when I take a photo without that on.
I'll try the air blower first anyway and see where we are after that!

It may not be a scratch. If you've already cleaned the lens and it hasn't fixed it then it's more than likely some dust on the sensor.
Maybe if you've got another lens you could try on the camera? Then you could tell wether the problem is with the camera's sensor or the lens.Last edited by Malc; 07-09-2009, 12:08.
