Sounds nifty(ier) - as I've still to get off my arse and buy a DSLR I may wait and see about the 400d.

Something tells me it'll cost a pretty penny mind

LOL - Sony thought they had the winner in the Mid range DSLR market. First the D80 now this. Welcome to the SLR Sony!

As for the price most likely will be around the same as a 350D body as i assume this the model to replace it. The 350D i think has been around 18 months, thats the norm for a canon replacement.

        Also announced:
        50mm f1.2L

        70-200 f4 IS

Quite tempted by the latter. Not at all by the 400d though, not enough has changed. Would have been nice if it was full-frame, particularly for under ?1000.

Aye, i'm quite tempted by the latter. However after only just getting the 70-200 f4 i couldn't justify the replacement. However it looks as compact and hopefully as light as the non IS lens.

Pete, i'd probably stay with the 350D. Maybe replace it when the 450D is announced in another 18 months.

The 50 1.2 looks nice but no doubt it will burn your wallet, a bit like its brother the 85 1.2!

400D looks nice and initially peaked my interest (as a 300D not 350D user) but I think I'd want to go a bit higher up the ladder as I'm not that bothered with the massive MP count but would be interested in better than 3fps. Will be interested to find out the price though.

Went down to the beach to catch the sunset on Tuesday evening but I was too late, ended up doing more long exposures. Am much happier with these ones, used my polariser this time and opened up the aperture a bit more and cut down the shutter times, more like 3-4 secs rather than 20+ this time

I really like them shots, particularly the one you posted and this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/agentl/223529727/

                Great job.

It's funny you like that one Pete, it's probably my least favourite (of the half decent ones) from the night!

You're starting to get good macro results consistently now then? Some good efforts on flickr.

I'm getting them more often for sure, but my success rate is still under 10%!

                      From Eos-Magazine if anyones interested.

The EF 70-200mm lens will be priced around ?689.99 RRP VAT inc. (?1429.99) and available late September 2006.

So real price might be around ?600. Not too bad, anyone want a buy a Non IS 70-200

I think I'd rather the 2.8 non IS for that price to be honest...I dunno, still tempting.

Advantages and disadvantages to both - IS gives you a couple of extras stops but it doesn't give you faster shutter speeds.

                          Pays your money etc

I liked your night shots Alastair, not sure what that blokey was going on about brightness though. Some people are never satisfied.

And now for something you don't see every day:

                            A ladybird eating an ant.

I didn't bother sticking it on flickr because the shot is pretty **** - being a ladybird it was tiny and I didn't even notice the ant until I stuck it on my PC. Wish I spent more time trying to get it!

                              He was probably jealous

What would you realistically sell the lens for GT? Not that I'll be able to afford it really and I'd ideally like longer than 200mm but I'm always interested in offers!!

Its only a month or so old probably around ?300, thats if i sell it. Its a good lens, most likely will wait to see how good the new one is first.
