Nice stuff from all as usual.

I did my first model shoot last weekend. First time I have had to use so much as a flash or softbox in 15 years (and then I had a studio technician doing all the hard work).

Great fun though but lots to learn! Will put a load up tomorrow once I get them processed and on to flickr...

Super lighting in those shots Gareth.

Cheers Marty. I did some processing obviously as the colours aren't exactly natural. It's more obvious in some of the others that I am in the middle of working on.

Wow amazing work Gareth, what was used for the lighting out of interest?

It was all a bit tricky as my Leica doesn't really work properly with most flashes so it all has to be set to manual. Also it has no sync socket.

The solution I came up with was to use a Nikon SB800 mounted on the camera which then controls the softbox light. Its less than ideal as the range of shutter speeds that the Leica will operate at and still fire the flash is very limited.

The way I did most shots was to rotate the flash to fire backwards so acting as a trigger only and then rotate the softbox up more than usual to work as a large bounce light (fill).

Anyway, it kind of worked but does probably rely on post processing as the shots were very flat straight out of the camera.

I'm shooting with the same girl tomorrow to continue with the theme so will use the same set-up but later in the week I am shooting another girl I met recently who i will try something different with and see if I can get better results straight out of the camera (and more like conventional look).

Did that answer your question at all Pete? I'm guessing not...sorry!

Not had a lot of time to frequent the forum in the last week or two. Here's a recent shot from me. Took it this evening but have had it in mind for weeks.

                    Aye - nice shot Ish.

I went on a walk around Stamford yesterday ( and to time how long it would take to walk to my new place of work ) - I took quite a lot of shots close to 200, but there wasn't much worth posting

                    I did get this

                    and this one

The new place is along the river, so I'll see if I can get anything better today

Found some shots that I took at the Eden Project in January of this year on my little Samsung compact:

Eden's a great place eh Dan, loved it when I went years ago. Good results there from the compact.

Yeah, it's a wonderful place. And thanks, although those were just lucky shots more than anything else! I'd like to go back with my D200 one day...

There are so many places I wish I could go back to now I've got more of an eye for photography and a much more capable camera!

Some great pictures over the last few pages guys. I haven't had the chance to go out and about recently, but the fair's in town next week, so hopefully I'll bag some shots then.

I've been taking tons of pics recently, but simply haven't had the time to process them and stick them up online.

I was at a gig last night, snapping away, when a photographer with a big red circle on the front of his lens came up and started chatting to me. After a bit of banter, he let me try out his 85mm F1.2L, 35mm 1.4L and 70-200mm 2.8L IS on my 400D.

Suffice to say, I'm wondering where I can find a few grand to drop on some proper glass.

The 35mm is beautiful, absolutely silky smooth. It was quite dark. I'd love to be able to try these out somewhere with a bit more light.

Edit: Just to mention that I really enjoyed some of the recent photos. Gotsta gets me to the Eden Project, methinks!
