Destroying the universe is all well and good for the kinda girl who'd appreciate such talk but I'd have to use a dictionary to come up with something like that, just like I had to to read it. Plus she'd know straight away that I nicked it from somewhere
In other news, I went hmv and picked up UHF for ?4. Aww yeahh

Soooo...
I've posted snippets of my latest romantic shenanigans in other threads(mostly the working in Japan one) but, seeing as 2012 is drawing to a close, I've decided to consolidate it here:
One of my best friends who I've known for the past five years is now my girlfriend. Yes, she's Japanese. No, I don't go for Japanese girls at all. Yes, I realise that doesn't make sense but (George Carlin voice) she just happens to be Japanese, that's all.
We got serious a few weeks before she was due to return to Japan (via a week's stay Paris) when we went to see our favourite DJ, Breakbot, as I decided to tell her how I feel and she stayed round mine for the night. In the time between then and her leaving I stayed at hers helping her pack and get rid of stuff (including helping with her market stall), and cleaned her flat from top to bottom. After completely and utterly devoting myself to her for ten days I came to the conclusion that I could happily carry on doing that for the rest of my life. I went to Paris to spend a few more days with her and say goodbye properly and that was really, really difficult because we still weren't sure where the relationship was heading as it was early days. The day after that I told her we couldn't just leave it like that and I was going to do whatever it takes to be with her but she was concerned that I was being rash. I spent a week planning before giving her my presentation after which point she was happy but still worried.
After that we were just skyping and stuff but she managed to come back a few weeks ago to visit. We needed this time to properly cement the relationship and that's exactly what's happened. Also, she arrived at a point where things between us were getting really shaky due to the distance and her frustrations at the situation but that all melted away once we met again at Heathrow.
In the meantime I've been offered a job as an ALT, most likely at a primary school based on the wage they're giving me and how much of the interviews revolved around teaching young children. Don't know exactly where but it'll be in Tokyo or the surrounding areas. They asked where I'd like to teach and I told them as close to my girlfriend's area as possible so I'm hopeful they'll manage somewhere near enough but I'll take whatever I can get for now. Sent off my documentation for a work visa so fingers crossed.
While here she got to meet my parents and grandparents and loves them all, and they all love her. Last week my Mum took her for a girly day out and now they're buddies, which is nice.
She left for Tokyo this morning, all smiles.
Bring on 2013.

@Wools: Thanks! Company said it'll take around a month or so.
@QualityChump: Noooo I'm still gay! Funny you say bisexual, though, because she thought she's bisexual until I explained that all girls fancy other girls. It's standard fare for them. She really, truly, deeply loves Monica Bellucci, though. Even had a sexy photo of her on her wall. I told her Monica is the only other person I'll allow her to sleep with.

Thanks guys, means a lot.
I tell you what, though. She's proper depressed me about leaving London. Before she arrived this month I was all "there's nothing for me here" and now I'm gutted to be leaving. From little tiny cafes to vintage clothes stores in Brick Lane to the chocolate shop in Liberty, there's so much I didn't know about.
Yesterday she was talking to me about imperial Britain and how the certain central London roads are so wide(to illustrate the British Empire's power) and said "we did X and Y". I asked if she meant the Japanese but she meant the Brits. She's such a Londoner!
