Another good one is Alien in the stomach scene - anyway I'm digressing.

The authorities have ruled out carbon monoxide or a gas leak. There's pills discovered near the missus. It's sadly looking increasingly likely Gene died, wife discovered him, and offed herself in response.Lie with passion and be forever damned...Comment

Apparently they owned three dogs, two were seen wandering outside as the door was ajar. They'd been there for two weeks
The leading theory seems to be that there were some loose pills and the dog ate some. Though, a few hours ago a gas leak was the lead theory so I imagine there's a lot of online speculation making that the narrative atmComment

I don't like speculation of this sort but in this case the evidence provided, so far, does point to the simplest explanation likely being just what has been suggested here.
Gene Hackman, who was 95, died in sleep; devoted wife finds him in the morning and in grief takes an overdose either accidentally or not. Dog finds her with the pills and greedily snaffles a few and dies too.
Sad, very sad for both families and friends but what a legacy of films GH left behind. An unquestionable film acting legend.

Turns out, according to the US coroners, that truth can be stranger than fiction and confirms, as I thought, it does not do to speculate about things like this.
Apparently Gene Hackman's wife died a week earlier than he did and of an obscure virus most often picked up from rodents. Their deaths are now both being recorded as by natural causes, his due to heart failure and other conditions associated with his age.Last edited by fallenangle; 09-03-2025, 01:49.Comment
