So much flavour though. I always have plenty of celery round my gaff. It forms the basis of many soups, stews and sauces, and indeed: life itself.

Change of plan tonight - missus needs cheering up so will get her a chinese. Bearing that in mind would be rude not to have a chinese chicken curry with chips, tbh

Spot on! My missus is a proper chef type person and when she raised the issue of carrots in spag bol I was, to be honest, disgusted and a little offended. "Just try it?" she continued, I did. Legendary. It's always in the dinner now.

Also, a superb way to get the children to eat their veg without them knowing. Though I concede it may be a bit early for that yet for Chris.

Beef caserole tonight as my wife is working. Double cooked casserole...

I had home made burgers and tried to make some potato croquettes. Not a 100% success but not a failure either.

Doing some serious cooking today as I have the in-laws coming down.
Making slow cooked shoulder of lamb with rosemary and garlic, sauteed mixed cabbage and potato and celeriac mash. For pudding I am making asteamed treacle pudding with butterscotch sauce and home made custard.

                        Sounds lovely - really does.

We are having something pasta based, with smokey bacon, herbs & some other stuff lobbed in.

Not up to your standard but I've sure it will taste ok.

i went to town last night and cooked a really nice meal. After a shopping visit to Waitrose I had my ingredients.

Ended up with 24 day aged rump steak medallions, served on a spinach and pancetta lardon tower, some really posh artisan miniature potatoes roasted with skins on, and a red wine and shallot sauce. Topped the steak with a small piece of high-quality goats cheese and finished off under the grill for a few seconds to melt it.

Had a bottle of Newky Brown with it.

Tonight am having Tesco Finest pie and chips.
