right time for a upgrade contract is over on my samsung galaxy ace thinking of the next phone thought the galaxy ace was ok but was pretty slow and battery life really was not that good
So for the next one looking for something that really does not slow down if i have a lot of web pages up decent battery life good for watching vids
toying with the galaxy III and the note 2 (due to the screen size and the cool stylus which almost acts as a mouse) or the iphone 5 but if anyone has any ideas would be greatful
Interested in gaming on the phone to but as far as android goes not really looked to much into it iphone infinity blade has me temptedLast edited by eastyy; 26-12-2012, 20:41.

I had an interesting chat with a guy who did a 2000 mile walking treck though Asia for charity. He was using a note2 for maps, music, pictures and videos in the afternoon and said he was going to bed with 50-60% battery life left, that was with 3g on and gps on all day checking google maps on a regular basis to orientate himself. Pretty impressive battery I thought.

Got my Nexus 4 yesterday and was instantly in love.
Slight negatives:
The lack of an induction charger in the box is a shame, but not surprising given the pricetag. I'm used to the new features of Jelly Bean 4.2.1 as that's what my n10 is running. I've not swapped my SIM card into it yet, and am not really amused you can't open it to pull out the battery. At some point I've needed to do that with every phone I've owned.
The better hand:
Slim build and barely bigger than my current Nexus S. Funky, shiny back. Got the 16GB model so lots of storage. 1080p video recording with "touch screen to take snapshot" is still awesome.
There are many features that are a staple of 4.2.x that don't spring to mind right now.
When taking photos there is an "HDR" option that I need to look into a definition of, all I can tell is that it turns off the flash options.
Looking forward to trying out GTA Vice City on it later!

Hi chaps, need some advice. I am a complete mobile noob - I have upgraded my phone three times since 2002! - and am looking to pick up a new mobile. All I'm after is a phone that I can use to download all the latest apps (some amazing features on the current gen phones and I feel I'm missing out) on pay as you go.
How much is a reasonable price for one that does the above and where is the best place to pick one up?

Speed I would imagine is not an issue (playbooks don't care how many apps you have loaded and it's the same core OS).
Battery life I'd like to know but I also see that the spare battery + portable charging pack is $47 so that's always an option. An option you don't have with an iPhone or my Xperia S.

Agree on speed, i was referring to the wingy power users more than anything, or sites that insist a device has to run 1000 apps at the same time.
Is the battery sealed in on this or accessible?.
I really like the fact that one swipe to the left brings up all your linked accounts to access with notifications if there, theres some nice usability touches going on in the OS.
It will be interesting to see how it pans out for RIM and what sort of reaction it garners, they still have a lot of loyal customers, and of course the business sector still much prefers its security. Will it be enough though, time will tell.

Yep. To my mind, they have done pretty much everything right. Bulletproof, proven RTOS. Slick UI. good security, business apps covered, personal apps covered. If they fail then it's because people haven't given it a chance really. I've never had a blackberry phone but the hub thing you mentioned where all the account updates are in one place seems brilliant.

I've used the past blackberrys and I have to say I absolutely hated them. The os was/is a total mess, slow, difficult to find anything and access, and I despised those tiny clicky clacky keys. The touch screen models were no better either, horrible touch experience, slow, poor batter life and the hardware seemed unreliable too, an ex went through 4 storms before demanding a different model, she switched to the just released wp7 and said it was like the storm was 10 years older even though they wernt that far apart in releases.
However the new os is definitely what rim needed, a good shot in the arm and from what I've seen of it running they should be confident in competing on an os level, its the sort of os that you can look at in a video and say yep id be happy to use that, looks smooth and everything is nicely accessible when I need it. So on that front they should be commended. Its always nice too see a company who so many had already written off as dead come back with a new and interesting product.
