Nowt but an inch or so today - all the roads had cleared up by this evening but it's going to be bloody lethal tomorrow.

I tried to set off from work at 3:30pm but got stuck in a traffic jam for nearly an hour, so decided to head back to the office.

Trouble was, traffic backed up to the car park and I was not even able to turn in! I abandoned the car in another office car park and walked back to my workplace for a good cup of Tea.

A few of us are sitting it out till the road has cleared and will then attempt to break out. I tell you, the road was bloody nasty driving back down, hopefully I can get the car up the hill!

Couple of inches here, not caused too much trouble, but it'll be a complete bugger tomorrow with all the ice after it goes below freezing tonight.

First snow is due here tomorrow afternoon.

Icy pavements here and just popped my up-arseing cherry for the winter.

All the crushed snow will turn to ice over night.

Conveniently my office is being redecorated so I'm working from home.

Drove back from Birmingham to Sheffield this afternoon, twas deadly. had to go 30mph for about 20 miles on the M1 because visibility was awful and the ABS was kicking in

I notice the snow item is very high on the news agenda now it's in the Saaahhfff. The weather bint on the beeb immediately zeroed in on the tiny splat in the southeast, ignoring the massive spread across the entire northeast. <cynic>

The ****hole is shut again because there's been another 5 or so inches overnight there, on top of the 4 days-worth already dumped. The fire exits are blocked, the car park inaccessible, and the boiler knackered. haha

Someone needs to build a video game related snow sculpture.

Exactly, the same every year. Took me an hour to walk to the train station this morning (15 min walk normally) - all trains cancelled even though the train I was catching actually passed through the station.

Stuck at home again - going stir crazy. Working from home is OK in small doses but I need my office comforts (and the eye candy).

While I totally agree that the news does tend to treat the South East as being more important, the total number of people affected by that small splat is probably a lot more than the spread across the north east.

It's shoulder to shoulder down here mate...

It's more the fact that it was the 6th or 7th news item earlier in the week, when there was nothing much in the south. There were millions hit in Scotland, the NE and Yorkshire, yet it was fairly low-priority for the newshounds. All of a sudden it's the lead item on the news now that it's hit the south. OK, maybe there are more people affected in the SE, but it doesn't excuse the fact that up here we've had it for 6 days, shoulder to shoulder indeed, and there's been really half-arsed coverage up to now. If it hadn't hit the SE, would it be the lead news item that we've had over 2 ft up here? Would it ****e.

I suppose the bottom line is this: I'm not downplaying how the South is affected, but I am complaining about the apathy of the media towards up here.

                          Hoorah!

It's just how everyone reacts to the snow here, it's like a hysteria

A: Loads of workers over playing it so they don't have to go into work
                              b: Everyone just complaining

As soon as it hits the media outlets that then get affected it becomes bigger news because they fall into both of those categories plus they can wind people up even further.

So true. My bird always lols at the way we treat snow. She spent a year in America and couldn't believe how efficient they are at dealing with falls four times as big.
