Lots of snow here today. It's been a slow, but steady downpour. So much so, they shut the college early and sent all us staff home. Best of all, I should've finished at 7 today as I'm on a late shift, but I left at 4. Woo!

All being well, the snow will continue overnight and I won't need to go in tomorrow...

Around -9 to -15 here, my car said it was -9 and that's the lowest it goes! Door lock was frozen solid and I had to use numerous cups of hot water on it.

Don't be! The estates are appalling and it's a nightmare having to go out to work in it.

It's like that here in Aberdeen too. No more snow last night, but it's very very cold. I done some more clearing last night, and I went into my back garden, and the snow was up to my knees. I think this snow is even worse than last years.

You could do what a lot of other people seem to be doing and not venture out, even when you know you really can get in to work.

It was so cold this morning my whole face was hurting walking to work. Not good waking up and seeing your phone displaying '-10'.

No Snow here (S Wales) but the temp has well dropped, heating on up to the max...its brrr...!

Decided to clear all the snow (8 inches) that was on the car and make sure it could still start. At least that went successfully. The wipers are superglued to the windows, and I can't scrape all the ice off the windscreen, so I imagine I'll be back out tomorrow with a bucket of warm water to see to them...

Not a huge amount of snow here in NW London but the temp has been minus 2 or lower all day and the problem has been ice and particularly black ice.

The main roads are fine, the pavements along the main roads are fine but in all the residential areas it is mine field of ice and compacted snow on pavements and roads. No salting/gritting at all.

Nearly wasn't here - walking back from my supermarket main shop after almost going A over T a couple of dozen times I was within 100m of home before I was well and truly 'done'. It was so cold one my (reused) plastic bags bottoms just dropped out, the weight change threw me off balance and as luck would have it I was in the middle of an ice sheet. Bam, no chance of softening the blow as I was carrying bags in each hand, flat on my back and head hits the pavement with considerable force.

Here's the good part - before I went to the supermarket I'd bought a ski hat (Debenhams sale ?4.95) and was wearing it so most of the impact was absorbed by the turned up rim. A bit dazed and embarrassed but that's it, no bump or bruise to show it had even happened. The hat was a spur of the moment purchase and the first time in 30+ years I've worn a one outside! Lucky or what?

Current view from my bedroom window, looks kind of magical. Reality tells me it's **** out there though lol

                              All starting to melt now.

lots of dripping noises and the occasionaly louse noise as snow or icicles fall off the roof

The 6" of snow here has disappeared over night.
