I assume it does have a battery. But by the time it eventually dies, I'll probably want something else. How many years did yours last?

    Comment

Oh good question, around three years I think.

Fair point though by the time the battery would eventually go you'd need a new watch anyway, remember the face had taken a bit of a beating on mine so was due a replacement.

Hmm 3 years doesn't sound great. I was expecting at least double that.

I might but an AW08 from China to piss off the Apple fanboys.

            Yeah, that's pretty bad.

Watches should last for a lot longer than that.

I like the look of the Pebble Steel and the various Android watches, but I really don't like the constant charging.

This is pretty cool. It looks like an analogue and digital watch, but it's actually just analogue.

I think the Withings Activit? looks pretty nice. Not sure it's for me, but in terms of classic watch design and tech it does a good balancing act between the two - http://www.withings.com/uk/withings-activite.html/

The cheaper 'Pop' version isn't too much of a step back either - http://www.withings.com/uk/withings-activite-pop.html

Interesting watch QC, bit chunky though.

They have squeezed a train timetable screen down into a watch!

The whole Apple watch smartphone thing has made me appreciate mechanical watches.

That's quite nice, smouty. The clear back lets you see the intricate workings too.
The problem is, anything made in China is going to look like it's a knock-off of somebody else's product.
Turns out it wasn't a "Rolex" I bought, but a "Rollox"...

The great thing about the 1963 military watches is that they were an all Chinese design albeit the movement was from reverse engineered swiss ones.

It is a good time to buy with the current € rate - http://www.watchunique.com/seagull-1...gull-1963.html

Aargh! That made me look through the family pics to check, it's actually four, I bought in 2004, was still wearing in 2008 but in 2009 had a different Casio on.

Still not great considering you can buy watches with these long life batteries I suppose.
Hope you get good life out of yours anyway.

Was having a tidy up this w/e and found an old digital watch I used to wear back in the '80s. Bought a new battery for it and I was surprised to find that it still works. Seems to be a Casio690 DW-240 made in Japan.
