Sitting in a lecture right now (Network Gaming module) where the lecturer is going through the history of gaming/online gaming. From the Commodore 16 to the Xbox 360, brought back a few good memories.......just thought I would share that.

I've been taking a steroid called prednisolone and a stomach acid suppressant called omeprazole that were part of the treatment for what I had. Even though I know longer had the illness, I had to keep taking the tablets at a gradually reduced dosage as stopping them suddenly would've been fatal.

Anyway, the former tablets, have insomnia as a side-effect, which was nightmarish for me at a higher dosage as there were times I just could not sleep at all even though I knew I was tired. This eased a little as the dosage was reduced, but was still a problem. Just after Christmas, I was told I could come off the meds altogether and slowly... I feel my sleep pattern returning to normal. And you can't possibly know how good this feels after months of going to bed tired only to wake up a couple of hours later and remain awake until around 7. This was especially problematic when I returned to work, as it meant I was screwed for the whole day.

My wife has just come off of prednislone as well - her asthma was extremely bad over Christmas and New Year (life-threateningly so scary times) and I had to take her to the hospital on 3 occasions in as many days (on the last occasion I had to call an ambulance and the hospital kept her in which put my mind at ease as I knew she was in the right place in case she flared up again), so I can sympathise mate. She spent the whole time resting and only went back to work on Monday just gone (14th). I hope you're all better now mate

I feel **** for the day if I get too much sleep. 6-8 hours is the sweet spot for me (Almost always closer to 6).

Nothing beats a weekend lie-in though. Sleeping until wheneverthef*ckyouwant on a Saturday and /or Sunday is just heaven! I'm trying to convince myself that I am trying to build up a deep reservoir of sleep for when me and the wife have kids but unfortunately, I don't think it works like that!

The only thing I can't do in relation to sleep, is catnap during the day - once I'm up, I'm up - but the missus can fall asleep wherever or whenever she wants to (and no, not then)

Same here with regards to napping during the day, unless I'm ill or properly exhausted for one reason or another. I get up at the same time on Saturday as I do in the week so that I can get to the gym nice and early and I try and take my eldest daughter swimming early on a Sunday morning.

If I don't have anything to do though at the weekends and they let me I can sleep until midday. But I always feel like ****e when I do (Both physically and mentally), not to mention incredibly guilty too.

I don't sleep, because sleep is the cousin of death.

                          Death being the TINternet Seany.........

naps are good, i think i read that a 15 min siesta is very good at rejuvenating you, anywhere close to 30 mins and you risk getting groggy and stuff. So im lead to believe.

Lately, i have not enjoyed going to sleep and not enjoyed waking up from a sleep. Its the during that i only enjoy, and thats only because im out for the count.

Horlicks btw works wonders! Does aid a restful sleep!

I slept for about 14 hours one night over xmas, i think i lost my will to live nearly, sigh...........

Cant nap either, if I try to, I end up comatosed for hours and wake up feeling groggy as hell!

But proper sleep when its bedtime on the other hand is just awesome!! Really cant beat it, and the more tired you are, the better it is.
