Re the winehouse, she was actually looking a lot better at Glastonbury and performing better than the last few times I'd seen her on TV. That says a lot about the way she was a few months ago though as she was still a state at the w/e. I get the feeling that she'll go downhill again when her fella comes out of jail...

Rather odd that Mandella banned his 'spiritual granddaughter' Naomi Campbell from appearing onstage at his bash, but Winehouse was allowed to perform. Sure Naomi is a nasty piece of work, but Winehouse isn't exactly a beacon of virginity, she should be locked away, not just for her drug problem, but to save us from her awful catawalling and the hideous eye pollution she inflicts on us mere mortals.
Either that or test her, because I fail to see how she could still be alive, she must have some Bruce Banner **** going on.

Time for another Health and Safety GONE MAD!!1 story.

I just visited my local scrapyard looking for some bits for my motor, and found the place strangely deserted. It's usually teeming with knuckle-draggers and grease monkeys. The gates were locked so I went into the reception and the guys inside were sat around doing sweet FA because, apparently, nobody but staff are allowed into the yard to look for stuff because 'Health and Safety have put a stop to it'. It's only open to the public on Saturdays. Not terribly helpful for me since I work Saturdays. When did this come into effect?

Seriously though, there's been no change in the law. That line gets trotted out more times than I've had hot dinners with no real explanation as to why, other than the pretence of being under some magic new H&S law that never actually exists.

You should have asked them why specifically. It's probably because the place is such a state that there's a very real risk that someone will get crushed by lots of heavy stuff hanging over the walkways etc.
